(Q) Has my living in the home with Mr. [...], ..., Va., who
is suffering with a severe case of lung trouble, been
detrimental to my body? If so, to what extent, and how may I
relieve same?
(A) This is not a contagious disturbance. It may be an
infectious disturbance. But the greatest detrimental
condition to the body in this environment has been the
weakening of the general physical resistance through the
improper use of its own vital energies.
The environment is nothing to be feared, if there is the
refraining from coming in close personal contact with the
body, and keeping the general precautions as would be
naturally kept in respect to such a condition.
Keep the room in which the body sleeps well aired. Keep a
good antiseptic, - preferably this sprinkled about the room,
or about the environs of the home, - any good antiseptic,
see? These as we find will be the only precautions
necessary, - that is, so far as the infectious condition is
concerned.
BUT, for the individual body here, [
2186], DO those things
indicated, if we would bring the better forces!
(Q) Would it be wise for me to teach in the same school
another year, or would some other prove more beneficial? If
so, what school?
(A) If this is agreeable, and if there is the giving out of
self for HELPFULNESS, stay where you are!
As we find, there needs to be a better correlation with
spiritual atmosphere, spiritual reactions within self. Be
not only good, - be good FOR something!
Know as to what the purposes are within this present
experience, and so live that these may be manifested in the
life day by day.
This is a well chosen vocation to be of helpfulness to
others, but practise that ye preach in the experiences of
those about you!
We are through with this Reading.

BACKGROUND
5/06/40 Her main concern was exposure to severe case of lung
trouble in home where she was living.
REPORTS
5/16/40 Sister, Miss [
357], wrote: "[
2186]'s reading was
very good, not so hard to carry out. She was real pleased
with it and I think later on she will get her Life Rdg.
"The man who was real sick at that time is very much better
and I hope he will continue to improve. She was worried
about living there but I think she feels better now."
8/16/40 Miss [
2186]'s reply to Questionnaire:
"Yes, the analysis covered the condition. The reading was
more of a warning. There was no physician's analysis
beforehand. I have followed everything except the
osteopathic treatments, which I will begin in Sept. or Oct.
1940. Wonderful improvements have resulted. Edgar Cayce is
a wonderful source of help."
9/23/42 She [2 yrs. later] submitted questions for another
reading, saying she had an aching, uncomfortable feeling in
chest cavity; bad digestion; pimples on face, neck, chest and
shoulders; frequent headaches; left earache; tired, aching
feeling in legs. She asked to be given a hobby, and for
spiritual guidance.
9/27/42 Sister Miss [
357] wrote that Miss [
2186] had wanted a
reading since last summer; her heart had been bothering her a
great deal. She went to see Dr. Waller L. Taylor [M.D.] who
told her it was not her heart "but so and so (can't say just
what as he told her so many little things). She went home
and got out her last reading, which was a warning more than
anything else, and just what the reading said would happen is
what Dr. Taylor told her. You should have heard our sister
[
1688] bawl her out. [
2186] carried out part of the
suggestions in the last reading, but the osteopathic
treatments she did not take, and I believe the reading will
give them again."
9/29/42 She obtained
2186-2, which indicated tubercle
infection. [Subsequently she obtained
2186-3 and
2186-4,

See Par. R7--R9 below for good reports on 2186-1 inhalant
used by others with sinusitis, hay fever, bronchitis, etc.
10/12/71 Report on the 2186-1 inhalant from A.R.E. Member,
David Birr, Box 22, 116 McCullough, 2315 Sheridan, Evanston,
Ill. 60201:
In the fall of 1970 I noticed mild sneezing which my mother
immediately attributed to Hay Fever which my brother, sister,
and father all have. I dismissed her solemn pronouncement
until once again this fall my muco membrane system showed
definite irritation and I had intermittent sneezing fits.
The irritation of the throat and nose was especially
noticeable after riding in a car for any distance.
I ordered the general inhalant as prepared [from Edgar
Cayce's 2186-1] and used as prescribed in the I.R.F. and on
the container. There was a definite improvement in the
course of a few days. I have now used it about 4 weeks
consistently and as noted in the reading
261-8 (I.R.F.),
"you can forget you ever had any hay fever..."
P.S. About 10 to 15 days after starting use any indications
of hay fever were so minor as to be unnoteworthy.
9/15/72 Report on the 2186-1 inhalant for cold, cough,
sneezing, from Mrs. David Herrington, % J. Bain Furniture,
1690 N. E. Expressway, Atlanta, Ga. 30329:
"Mr. Raskin (my boss) is always talking about Edgar Cayce.
One day about 2 mos. ago I came to work and casually
mentioned that my husband 'has a terrible cold, that makes
him cough and sneeze, and that he called two doctors in town
to get an appointment but they were too busy.' Mr. R.
suggested the Cayce general inhalant [2186-1] which he
happened to have in his desk drawer. I took this home to my
husband that night. He read the instructions and tried it a
couple of times that night before he went to bed. The next
day he was fine, no coughing or sneezing. I couldn't believe
it, but there he was, no cold. He said he felt fine. I told
him we saved money by not going to the doctor. My husband
works in construction, so he didn't miss any work."
3/28/73 Report on the 2186-1 inhalant by member, Mrs. Faye L.
Hill, 2641 Moderna Ct., Rancho Cordova, Cal. 95870, for
sinusitis:
"In 1950 I started having bad headaches. The Reese-Stealy
Clinic ran tests and found I was allergic to house-dust and
dry-grass pollen giving me chronic sinusitis. Started shots
at 3 days a week then 2, then 1, then 1 every 2 weeks for 23
years. I took 1cc of housedust 1/2 cc dry grass each time
plus pills.
"After joining A.R.E. I read about the sinusitis inhalant in
Black Book page 192. Also it was listed as items to be
obtained from a health store in Va. Beach. So I wrote for it
and they sent me the general inhalant [2186-1]. This I used
in A.M. and P.M. very faithfully. No more headaches, eyes
swelling, sneezing, or choking. So I never went back for
anymore shots or pills from my doctor."
7/03/78 GD's note: Miss [
2186] and members of her family have
remained interested in and supportive of Edgar Cayce's work
all these years. She has recently retired after 43 years of
teaching but says she refuses to become a senior citizen.
3/27/84 GD's note: Miss [
2186] died
3/21/84 in a hospital.
She is survived by her two sisters who also had rdgs.; Mrs.
[
1688] and Miss [
357].
