(Q) Mr. Cayce, What caused this body's swelling, and the
feet to swell?
(A) Mr. Cayce, what caused this body's swelling, and the
feet to swell. Just as we have described. The lymphatic
forces attempting to take care of and eliminate those
conditions that exist as being produced by the poisons in the
system. To assist this body and to bring it to its normal
conditions as near as possible, - for there are some
conditions that will not be entirely corrected, yet the body
may have many years of usefulness through the physical force
if these are applied in their proper manner, and in the way
they should be, we would take this into the system:
To one gallon of water we would add:
Sarsaparilla Root.............6 ounces,
Black Haw Bark................2 ounces,
Yellow Dock Root..............2 ounces,
Burdock Root..................2 ounces,
Dogwood Bark..................2 ounces,
Prickly Ash Bark..............2 ounces.
This would be simmered, not boiled, until reduced to one
quart. While warm, after straining, there would be added
four ounces of Grain Alcohol, with six ounces of Cane Sugar,
and three drams of Balsam of Tolu. The dose would be one
dessert spoonful, four times each day. After the first
quantity is taken into the system, we would then rest for
five days. Then take this in the system: To one ounce of
Toris Compound, we would add one pint of warm water, one half
pint of Sherry or Wine or Cordial, and one ounce of syrup of
Sarsaparilla. The dose of this would be a tablespoonful
three times each day. Let the diet be that of vegetable
matter, rather than of meats; all the time to eat what the
body calls for, but not meats, nor not fat meats especially.
If any is taken, let it be that of the sinew, rather than of
the fat portions. See?
FEM: Yes, sir.
After this is taken in the system, then we would make another
quantity of the first prescription as given. We will find
this will relieve this body and bring it to a normal
condition as near as will be possible on this plane. We are
through.
Now, Mr. Cayce, you will forget all about this reading you
have given. You are feeling all right, and all of the
organs of your body will function properly. You are feeling
splendid. Now, wake up in two minutes, feeling fine and all
right, and free from headache.
REPORTS

9/01/23 Daughter's ltr. to EC on Hotel Hillman, Birmingham,
Ala. stationery: "...Please answer at once. Last Dec. you
read & prescribed for my mother Mrs. [
2195], ..., Ala. The
medicine she thinks helps her but she still has spells of
rheumatism very severe especially in left side around heart.
They get worse & am afraid she can't stand any more. Can you
do any thing more or advise her. You said one prescription
ought to stop or greatly relieve - does exposure or work
cause spells or cause them in any way - spells come regularly
about every 6 wks. but last was so bad 3 or 4 mo. she has not
got over it & still has pains... I haven't a stamp please
write any way at once & I'll send stamp later - it's so
important please do it..."
9/14/23 EC's ltr. to Daughter of [
2195]: "...Yours of recent
date found me here in Selma. I have just returned after
quite an extended trip through the North and West.
"I remember you very well, and the reading for your mother.
If you will make the appointment, I will be very glad to take
up your mother's case again and see what can be found that
would be of benefit.
"Our hours for readings are 9:30 A.M., 3:30 P.M. Be sure to
give your mother's full name and address, so that she may be
located at the time the reading is taken.
"Trusting this finds you, yourself, very well, and hoping to
hear from you real soon..."
6/08/26 Daughter's ltr. to EC: "...Of course you do not
remember me but you kindly helped my mother [
2195] & sent her
a pamphlet recently that was very interesting and now I am in
need of help and am appealing to you.
"I must get some money for real estate and want to win some
of the 'Ad' prizes in B'ham News. You may read the paper -
I've told my sister Mrs. [...] to send you papers. Mr. Casey
can't you go to sleep and read or see the ad that would take
the weekly & final grand prize?
"Also can you while asleep see where I can invest in real
estate & make some money. I am not able to work now but must
make some. Please if possible do this for me and let me know
at once. Thanking you so much. (Miss) [...], ... St.,
Birmingham, Ala. Auto Tires - Trunk, Luggage Co. - Red
Diamond Coffee - & others are in contest All America Shoe
Store - 1924 - 3rd Ave W. G. Patterson Cigar Co.
6/18/26 EC's ltr. to Daughter of [
2195]: "...Yours of the
8th was forwarded to me here. I am certainly very glad to
know that I was possibly of some service to your mother in
the work that I tried to do for her. I shall be very glad,
if it is possible, to be of some assistance, if same is in
keeping with the kind of work I am trying to do. I am
sending you one of the pamphlets also. You will see from
same the kind of work and what I am trying to work toward. I
am located now at Virginia Beach permanently, and shall be
very glad to hear from you.
"I don't just get the idea of what it is you wish from your
letter. I possibly will know more about it when I see the
papers. As for investments in real estate, I believe that
this place offers some of the most wonderful opportunities of
anywhere in the country. My son is associated with a real
estate company. You will, in all probability, hear from him.
Of course it was a reading given on my own work - why I am
located in this place, and of course in the information there
was considerable said respecting real estate values.
"Thank you very much for your letter. I hope I may be of
some service in some way..."
6/26/26 Daughter's ltr. to EC: "...Your letter about real
estate etc was very interesting but it finds me too poor to
invest and I am not working as must rest a year. Is there
any way you can help me better my condition physically and
financially? I have wanted to go in real estate business
here but can find no way as it takes so much money to start.
How much do you charge for reading in B'ham real estate?
& do they always work out just as read? Please answer these
questions in your letter you may give no & then answer.
No. 1. Can you by reading give cold cream or formula which
will remove all lines or wrinkles of age & put flesh on parts
where it is used? No. 2. Can you in any way remove large
veins & circles from around eyes? No. 3. Will any thing
remove fat from certain parts of body? No. 4. Remedy for
grey hair. Will appreciate so much your answers. Can you
tell me where I can get best place in teaching or if I could
make more at something else..."
7/01/26 EC's ltr. to [
2195]'s Daughter: "...Replying to yours
of the 26th, I should think you would have gathered most of
the information you ask from the little pamphlet sent you.
It meant just what it said as to charges. The charges are
according to the abilities of the individual to pay.
"As to the formula for a cream, this may or may not be given
in a reading. It depends as to whether that's what is
necessary to remove the trouble or not. It would give you
the formula, if that is what is necessary to remove the
trouble. It would be the same also as regarding the veins
and circles - also the other conditions you ask about. Of
course, it will be necessary to give a reading to find these
out. I can't give them off hand, for I'm no physician. We'd
be very glad though to try to be of help, if you so desire,
and to make an appointment for you.
"On page 25 and 26 of the little pamphlet I think you will
find the information necessary respecting the physical
reading for you to know what to do in applying for a reading
and in applying the reading as gotten to your own individual
needs. I certainly hope I may be of service..."
7/26 Daughter of [
2195] ltr. to EC: "...Am asking help of
you again. Please "read" and find the prize winning name for
the ballron tire. I must have some money, and you are my
only hope. I will pay you. Your son wrote me about
investments there. I am greatly interested, but need some
more money. I have heard recently in Birmingham of the
splendid opportunities there. All I need is some more money
and I believe its a great chance for making money. Mr.
Cayce, please do this for me & as soon as you can
conveniently do so. It will certainly be for a good cause.
Thanks..."
7/26/26 EC's ltr. to Daughter of [
2195]: "...Replying to
yours of recent date, it would be very nice I'm sure to be of
help to you in gaining the prize as is outlined in the
circular enclosed, but I'm sure you must realize that to be
of help to sick and suffering humanity is more than meat and
drink or dollars and cents, and its almost impossible for me
to keep up with the appointments that we have at the present
time; so I will have to beg to be excused from this, for I
haven't the opportunity to go into anything of this nature.
"Hoping that you may be successful with your naming the tire,
I am..."
