Our dear friend, Edgar Cayce:
Many thanks to you and Miss Gladys, for sending me the Life
Reading so promptly, for it reached us at Mrs. [...]'s
shortly after we arrived. We read it to her and she was
very interested in all that it said. It has had a curious
effect upon me. I feel as though I had let the Count
de Rochambeau down by accomplishing so little in this
incarnation for the good of humanity. In one way, my life
has been unconsciously selfish for I have been apparently
more intent on developing my own mentality from probably
a vain idea of showing forth the glory of God, as far as
it may have been revealed to me and I do NOT feel that I
have lived up to what I seemed to have been. However we
have both enjoyed very greatly our visit at your lovely
home and thank you and Mrs. Cayce for all that you have
done for us. My first extra money will be sent to you
for the Association needs every cent for the furtherance
of its ideal and purposes.
We are thinking of you and your dear ones as well as [

[
2091] [
1561] and the others whom we know, during these
glorious days of the Conclave at your home.
The Sabine River is so far out of its banks that we can not
drive for our daily mail but twice a week will make a twenty
five mile detour through Gladewater to Big Sandy.
How I wish that New Mexico project may materialize. I wish
I might be with you all and have several classes in French,
particularly that Miss Gladys might read with me in French
the period of the Louis' of France, during the reign of the
last two I lived.
We are waiting for the visit of our friends.
Affectionate remembrances, dear thanks and kindest regards
to you all from your two friends. [

1/07/75 S. Goranson's ltr. to the Vatican:
The Cardinal Librarian
The Vatican Library
Vatican City
Rome, ITALY
Your Eminence:
In studying the papers of the later Edgar Cayce, founder of
the Association for Research and Enlightenment, I have found
reference to certain writings by one Philen, some of which
are indicated to be in the Vatican Library.
This Philen is described as a Roman procurator who gathered
statistical information concerning the resources
(agricultural and mineral) of various peoples, particularly
those of Antioch and the Ornotes. Philen also considered
the mental and spiritual teachings of those in the lands
he visited. This, presumably occurred in the latter part
of the first century A.D.
As it would be of great value in my studies, I would quite
appreciate your determining how I may gain access to these
manuscipts - whether by photography or by visit.
Also, could you please advise us as to what cataloging of
early MSS in the Vatican we may obtain for our library.
Let me thank you for your consideration and cooperation in
this matter.
Faithfully yours, Stephen Goranson

Ritiene, in ogni modo,
e distintamenta ossequia.

[Above basically says that given the current state of their
vast cataloging project information on an otherwise unknown
person's manuscript would be difficult to locate.]
