This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 7th day of June, 1940, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [2272], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Dr. [2067].

TEXT

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, and that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: (In going back over years from the present - " - '37 - periods of anxiety - '34 - '28 - expectancies - '20 - changes - " etc., on back to birth date.)
3. Yes - there were other names too.
4. We have the records here of that entity now known as or called [2272].
5. In giving the interpretations of the records here, these are chosen from same with the desire and purpose that this may be a helpful experience for the entity; enabling it to experience and manifest those purposes for which it individually has entered this material experience.
6. For, each soul enters not by chance but according to those purposes for which the Creative Forces gave individuality to each soul; that it might manifest in such a manner as to be a living experience manifesting that purpose in the material world.
7. That each entity enters at some given period or time is again not chance, but because of the manner of the union of purpose which gives an opportunity for expression of a soul through a given period of activity.
8. Thus each soul realizes, should realize, that each manifestation, each expression, is an opportunity that the individual entity may be a living example, known and seen of those whom the entity may meet, of the fact that God IS.
9. Those who so live in their associations with others as to make others more aware of Him in their consciousness day by day are fulfilling the purpose for which an individual experience is given.
10. The astrological aspects have meant little to the entity, and there may only be given the indications as to their influence in the material experience. Not that they form that which will be, or has to come to pass. For, the real birthright of an individual entity is the will.
11. No urge, then, no circumstance, no condition surpasses the will of an entity.
12. Thus the astrological aspects or urges received, that find expression in the emotional natures or consciousnesses of the body, are dependent upon what and how the will of the entity is applied, - according to that the entity has held and does hold as its ideal.
13. Yet, from the astrological aspects the entity finds that at times others have termed and do term the entity as being strong-minded, or self-willed; inclined to have a mind and a purpose of its own, irrespective of what others may think or say or do.
14. Yet, the entity is sympathetic, kind; always taking on the emotions of others. Hence the entity has been, will be, a home builder; able and with the ability to direct others.
15. Hence as one who would organize or teach or direct in the activities of others, in finding their places in the material world, the entity may succeed in finding itself, in finding the mental application which would enable the entity to give the expressions of those innate forces which find expression in the urges latent and manifested in the experience of the entity.
16. As these come under that influence ordinarily accredited to Venus and Jupiter, those things that are beautiful or lovely are of special interest. Not because of their individual beauty or loveliness, but the influence such has upon those with whom the entity may come in contact; bringing out or giving the background for the better emotions as may be expressed in others, and through the associations with such ideals.
17. Hence the entity is orderly in its life, in its associations; keeping promises, - and the entity is one that can keep a secret - which may be very seldom said of one of its sex!
18. As to the activities arising as urges from these, we find that these may be latent or manifested; but they arise as influences or dreams, - not because of the planets or stars being in a certain position at the period of birth, but because of the sojourn in those environs the entity thinks in such terms.
19. The appearances in the earth have not been great in number that influence in the present experience, but these have been quite varied, - and they may be seen in the emotional nature or side of the entity.
20. Before this the entity was in the English land, during those periods when a great deal of activity was in the land as relating to conditions which were arising in the experiences of many who were journeying to the new land.
21. It was during those periods when grants were given for the settlings in the land of the entity's present nativity. Thus we find the entity, as Elizabeth Ann Hendorx, found or knew the meanings of those changes which came about because of those who for one purpose or another sought out the life in the new land.
22. Thus latently in the present there has ever been the dread within the experience of the entity of the breaking of the home, either by death or by the activities in which the home would be minus any individual. This arises rather as a dread, than as doubts or fears as to the individuals in their journey or direction.
23. The entity then counseled oft with those regarding the purposes for which individual activities were chosen.
24. Hence the entity in the present, from that sojourn as well as from the astrological indications, has the ability to organize groups for any specific character of study, or any protective association or activity, or the teachings of any individual activity, - whether in a national or local activity. These would be the channels through which the entity would find ways and means for expression; or in the teaching or superintending of Sunday Schools that had organizations of various natures for the young people's groups, - as the studies or preparations for the various activities that individuals assume in their divisions of their time or periods of life's activity.
25. These would be the greater channels even from the material, as well as the mental and spiritual forces. For, a body - in analyzing its life, its activities - finds itself body, mind, soul, - in a three-dimensional phase of consciousness. Thus, one must coordinate with the other, - as the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. So in self there is the body, mind and soul, or body, mind and purpose, body, mind and spirit, - spirit that is the life, that is the image of the Creative Force. These must coordinate in the influences and activities that would direct the manifestations, whether they be in speech, thought, or manner of conduct among the fellow men.
26. When or where these begin to lap over, or become fearful experiences in any form - as they have been and do become at times in the present experience of the entity - they bring about fear. Fear creates doubt. Doubt brings such conditions in which the spirit becomes weak, and the material seems to take first place. Yet these are not in keeping with the tenets nor the intent of the individual.
27. Then, trust wholly in Him. For in Him ye live and move and have thy being; and thy body, mind and soul must ever day by day in every way be a living, manifesting example of that ye think of, ye believe in, ye hope for.
28. Before that the entity was in the earth when the Master walked in the land.
29. The entity was among the holy women, not only during that period of activity in which there was the lauding of the actions of the man of Galilee, but during the periods of dissension and railing, of sorrow because of separations.
30. Yet, the entity was among those who knew of, - yea, experienced, - that day upon the mount when the last benediction was given.
31. Thus the beliefs in those promises of others have held and do hold for the entity something that bespeaks of something hoped for. Though the entity has oft been deceived in the promises of some of its friends, associates, even of its own household, this never causes the entity to waver. For, the entity's belief in those promises is sure. Hold fast to that purpose that ye understood then, - as Julia, of the household even of the doubter, Thomas.
32. The entity brought into the experience of many the hope and faith which had been and was a part of the experience. So may it even in the present, under the very shadow of doubts and fears, create within the hearts and minds of others who seek to know His way that of hope which springs eternally anew within the human breast, - by those influences which He, the man of Galilee, brought into the experience of those gathered about Him there.
33. For, the entity was a part of same, - and so may the entity in the present in its efforts, in the formations of activities for those studies, those purposeful organizations of one nature or another, bring that of hope.
34. For, it isn't those who do the great deed who are written the highest. For even as He gave, he that is the greatest among you is the servant of all.
35. So, as ye have found, so as ye may find in thy experiences in the present, doubt and fear are cast away when the thoughts are lifted to the hope that comes in the Cross, even in the Cross of Jesus!
36. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land, during those periods of reconstruction when there had been those activities in which the Priest returned for the bringing of order out of chaos, - by the activity of the rebellions of the Natives as well as the theological activities brought about by the Atlanteans.
37. The entity was active in aiding individuals to become the better channels for not only the propagation of the families but for the specific or special work, - or the vocational guidance in the activities of that experience.
38. Thus we find the entity was among the emissaries who overlooked, as would be termed, the various stations to which individuals had been sent for their activities in mission fields.
39. Thus the entity in the present we find latently seeking the experience of travel, or change of scene, to understand the environs not only by the imagination but by the processes of analyzing the activities of individuals, and that produced in their experience by the study or activity in varied fields of service.
40. The name then was She-Shu-En.
41. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, and that to which it may attain, and how:
42. As indicated from the experiences of the entity in the earthly sojourns, as well as latently and manifestedly in the activities from the astrological aspects, - the fields of service in which the entity may find the greater outlet for its abilities are in the organizing or teaching, rather than in dealing with things; the building of homes and activities and character in the lives of individuals who would build homes.
43. As the supervisor over young people's work, either in the young people's organizations of the Sunday Schools or the teachings as would be a part of the national associations or activities, - this would be the channels through which greater service may be given, and greater hope as well as the bringing out of the longings that are latent and manifested in the experience.
44. Then, study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman not ashamed, dividing the words of truth and keeping self unspotted from condemnation.
45. Thus ye shall find those influences and forces that bring hope, help and understanding.
46. "In patience possess ye your souls," gave He. In patience ye understand others. In brotherly love and kindness ye show forth the Lord's love till He come again.

48. (Q) What can I do to assist my daughter [C...]?
    (A) Aid or help her to get an understanding of the principles, the tenets and truths in the Christ. This is the greater heritage, the greater gift ye can bestow upon any.
    Their own lives must be lived, but the ability to rely or to depend upon one who lives the life herself will assist the daughter the more.
49. (Q) My daughter [S...]?
    (A) Here we find quite a different experience or characteristic. Here ye can only counsel as to being true and faithful to her own beliefs.
50. (Q) My son [J...]?
    (A) Again a different characteristic. The better here might be found by analyzing the experiences of that entity in the material plane. For, this association has not been by chance, but that ye may be in thine own life ever that upon which [J...] may rely for all that is holy, all that is beautiful, all that represents what home really means.
51. (Q) My husband [2273]?
    (A) As we find, here again individual entities are working out together those influences which have been and are a part of their whole experience. For, life is ever a manifestation of that which is divine. It is a continuous thing. The continuity of life is the hope of each soul, each entity.
    As has been the experiences of these together, their hopes, fears and doubts have been woven and interwoven one with the other. They find themselves becoming then as the prop one for the other, when the other needs it the most. Then, never be angry at the same time the husband is. Never be, as it were, "in the dumps" when the husband is. Not that they are to be as crosses, but as helpmeets indeed one for the other.
    ALL in one purpose of being that HE, thy Lord, would have thee be. Let thy prayer ever be, "Thy will, O Lord! Have Thy way with me."
    And as ye keep this in thy heart and activity with thy companion, thy husband, ye will not only bring courage and strength to self but to him.
    For, even as He gave, in such ye have meat that men know not of. Hence it gives strength and courage, it gives hope and faith, by the renewing of the spirit and of the righteous purpose within thee.
52. (Q) Will Sears-Roebuck Co. want to renew lease three years hence on our property next to the ..., N.C.?
    (A) Will renew for ten years.
53. (Q) Will they offer to buy?
    (A) There will be an offer to buy.
54. (Q) What is the best thing to do with this property?
    (A) Lease until there IS the offer to buy at a price that is in keeping with that as would be best for all.
55. (Q) Would it be best for me or Mr. [2273] to make business decisions?
    (A) How has been the counsel? That ye must be as helpmeets one for the other. Counsel together; but oft let the Lord have HIS way, - not Mr. [2273]'s nor your way either!
56. (Q) Should I continue to sell Ready-To-Wear? or continue in business?
    (A) Give full time to the organizing of the home, as well as young people's activities. This as we find, if it is kept at all, would best be as a side line; but we would give more of the work to the Lord's side and to young people, and to organization and to church work, or group work. For this has become as a burden to thee, and to those about thee - by the worries it creates.
57. (Q) Should I have a Physical Reading?
    (A) We haven't the physical, but the mental and the spiritual here. This will depend upon the conditions. We find the physical coordinating with the mental and spiritual. Keep it that way.
58. (Q) Should my family remodel our old home in Greensboro?
    (A) We haven't the old home.
59. (Q) What effect will the European War have on my business and on my husband's business?
    (A) This as we find, as has been indicated for the business of self, - change more to the Lord's work. As to the effect upon the husband's business, there will be both good and bad effects upon same; and will require, as it has required and is requiring, that some conditions be changed as to the general activities in distribution especially.
60. (Q) What can I do to help my husband's business?
    (A) Aid him in especially the helpful counsel, and in his health.
