This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of July, 1940, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [2302], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [1711].

Present: Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mr. [2302], his wife and daughter [...].

TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2302].
3. As we find, there are disturbing conditions which prevent the better physical reactions in this body; and material aid may be given, and there may be brought near to normal reactions as should exist.
4. It will require some persistence, consistence, and prayer and meditation.
5. These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body, [2302] we are speaking of, present in this room:
6. First, in the blood supply there are those indications of a great deal of toxic conditions that arise from poisons and accumulations through the body. A part of the contributing cause, but not altogether, is the teeth; and those that need attention should be removed, to eliminate the poisons.
7. This is also a source of pressure causing the disturbances, from the blood, in the nerve forces; so that the muscular or neuritic reactions occur in the extremities of the body. These then also indicate the toxic condition of the liver, the spleen.
8. At times these are aided in relief through the kidneys, but these are the combinations of conditions through those pressures externally, internally, from those conditions which also exist in the upper dorsal and cervical area, - that, with the general debilitation, hinder the vision's normal activity, or its reflexes to the activities of the optic nerves.
9. These all are indicated from those conditions which exist as portions of the blood supply, though this is deficient in the quantity and quality of the corpuscles or building forces for portions of the body.
10. In the nervous system, - as indicated, in the upper dorsal and through the cervical area we find pressures, that arise from the toxic forces, upon the sympathetic system, and SPECIFICALLY at the 3rd and 4th dorsal upon the optic centers - which cause rather a film or shadow across the activity of the optic center in the eyes themselves.
11. We find that these may be relieved, and vision - with the aid of glasses - be restored for the body.
12. In the organs themselves of the body, - we find brain forces and their reflexes are at times hindered by the conditions which exist as related to the general system of metabolism, or the thyroids as well as the adrenal glands about the liver. All of these contribute to the general debilitation which exists through the body.
13. Though the organs themselves are not defective, they are sympathetically involved in their functioning.
14. As we find, in making administrations for this body:
15. First, we would begin with very small doses of Atomidine; one minim each morning before any meal is taken, - one drop in half a glass of water, - for five days.
16. On the sixth day take five drops. This - that is, the five drops - will cause some roaring in the head, and may at times cause a bit of nausea.
17. But on the day that the five drops are taken, take a Blanket Sweat; that is, wrap the body in a wet hot blanket for at least thirty to forty minutes, keeping the head cool so that there may be no fainting. Watch the pulsations as to whether this becomes severe or not, for the first one or two of these. But this is to remove poisons from the system.
18. AFTER the Blanket Sweat, spray or sponge off the body thoroughly. Then massage deeply and heavily along the cerebrospinal system, from the base of the brain to the end of the spine, on either side of the spine, with an equal combination of Olive Oil and Peanut Oil. This does not mean just rubbing it on, but massaging it into the system in a circular motion; finding each segment, as it were, along the cerebrospinal system.
19. Then we would use the Electrically Driven Vibrator, (the Cup Applicator) over the spine itself.
20. We would then rub the body down with rub alcohol, that there may be no cold contracted from these activities.
21. Then, after resting from these applications for three days, - begin again with the Atomidine; one drop each morning for five days. On the sixth day take five drops, then the Blanket Sweat and the whole procedure the same as before.
22. Continue in this manner a regular routine or round of the applications, see?
23. As to the diet, - have plenty of raw vegetable juices, or they may be taken in the raw vegetables - one meal consisting principally of these, or else a quantity taken at two of the meals each day - of such as lettuce, celery, carrots, tomatoes or the like - Raw, see? With the extracting of the teeth, it may be necessary to grind or pulverize these, or to take in the juice form, that they may act well with the body.
24. Also we would take beef juice; not beef, but the pure beef juice. Take this as medicine, - a teaspoonful at a time, but take three to four minutes to sip that quantity, you see; doing this three to four times a day. This is strengthening for the body.
25. We would also have liver as a part of the diet two or three times a week, to build up the body and to give strength.
26. Outside of the beef juice and the liver, we would only use fish, fowl or lamb as the meats - and none of these ever fried.
27. Not too much of sweets. Not much either of white bread. Use brown or whole wheat bread.
28. Keep the eliminations well. For doing this, we would take each morning after the meal a teaspoonful of ENO SALTS, in a glass of water.
29. Do these, and we will bring nearer normal reactions for this body.
30. With the applications made, let there be the attitude of being helped FOR something; not merely to be feeling well or able to see, but to see and to aid or help others!
31. Let thy meditation and prayer be, in thine own words:
32. "LORD, USE ME IN THE WAYS AND MANNERS THOU SEEST FIT! LET MY MEDITATIONS AND MY PRAYERS BE ACCEPTABLE IN THY SIGHT, TO SUCH MEASURES AS TO BRING HEALTH, STRENGTH, HELPFULNESS TO OTHERS: THAT THE GLORY MAY BE UNTO HIM WHO IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH, THE LIGHT!"
33. Ready for questions.
34. (Q) Should all the teeth be extracted?
    (A) As indicated, let them be examined by the dentist; and those that indicate there is pus at the bottom of them, take them out!
35. (Q) What shall we do to help neuritis?
    (A) All of these things as we have given are to aid, to relieve the tensions and those conditions which exist.
    DO these, and we will find the help.
36. We are through for the present.

1. "Blindness came from the after effects of the grippe [date of onset 1/18/40]. Dr. A. T. Mayo [Alex T. Mayo, M.D.] is our family physician and he said the streptococcic germ started in his brain and paralyzed his optical nerve."

1. 11/10/40 [2302]'s wife's letter:
   "Mr. [2302] has improved wonderfully, he has gained in weight, is much stronger, brighter and more hopeful since his visit to you. His sight has not returned in any way, but we feel it will. We have followed your reading in detail and expect to do so, and expect to continue. We all feel deeply indebted to you and will let you know of his condition."
