This Psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 31st day of December, 1941, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [2366], Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

TEXT

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2366]; this we have had before.
3. As we find, in some respects there are still some improvements. In others there is little improvement. For, as we find, these conditions in the present exist:
4. In the circulation the resistances are not being builded up as fast as they should be. There are times when there is not sufficient resistance or energy, or those vital forces supplied in that assimilated.
5. Thus we have periods when the circulation, heart's activity, liver, kidneys, even the lungs at times, all become a part of a disturbance.
6. These become hardships, then.
7. For, with the natural inability under the existent circumstance for the body - through its functionings and eliminations - to throw off the used energies or drosses created in the system, there is also the attempt to create AND eradicate the disturbances from the broken cell or tissue which has caused the inability of locomotion. Hence too great a quantity is created to be eliminated from the system.
8. That it has been felt necessary at times to administer heart stimulants, as combined with that which we have given for same, is a hardship rather than a benefit. Either use one or the other. DO NOT attempt to give any heart stimulant (such as the Digitalis or Digitol) AND the excesses of the iodine (Atomidine) in the system!
9. As we have found, and as indicated, the iodine (Atomidine) should have been sufficient - if there had been kept the massage, the rubs, as well as the setting up of the drainages by the osteopathic adjustments. And these, as we find, would be more in keeping with that necessary to aid in elimination.
10. The activity of the iodine in the body from Atomidine (which is atomic iodine) is to stimulate all glandular force, to purify or cleanse same. This naturally produces also an extra quantity of refuse forces, or of used tissue that is to be eliminated from the system.
11. Consequently, in combination with the other influences, this causes greater disturbance than beneficial conditions. Hence we would either use one or the other, - not both.
12. The use of the low Wet Cell Appliance has been and will be beneficial, when and if used consistently and persistently, - through the creating by vibratory forces of the low electrical energies, that carry vibratorially the equalizing influence of the Gold Solution for the body. These are those activities that work with the body energizing force through the areas of the assimilating system, as from the lacteal duct plexus, through which the vibrations should enter the body. These cause those energies that stimulate nerve building fibre tissue or activity. These still show some improvement.
13. But we should still find improvements for the body, if there will be used consistently and persistently the oil massages - away from the brain, or to the central portion of the body; that from the head along the spine to the 9th and 10th dorsal, and then from the lower limbs upward to the 9th dorsal; also keeping the Wet Cell vibrations, and the osteopathic adjustments to aid in setting up drainages, - with the eliminations being kept very good.
14. Of course, the massage of the hands and feet TOWARD the body will also aid, - where there is the inability of the full circulation, through the short circuiting, as it were, by pressures along the nerve centers to extremities, - bringing better use of same. This will also prevent the tendencies for the cold or tingling sensations that arise at times.
15. As to the general conditions, - the diet, the activities:
16. Keep in the open as much as practical owing to the weather conditions. At such times when this is curtailed, the use of the ultra-violet will be excellent for the body.
17. These, then, we would do.

19. (Q) In what respects have I improved since the last reading?
    (A) As indicated, only in the ability of the system to absorb - through the creating of better nerve tissue - may there be improvement; so that the pressures upon the areas afflicted are being absorbed or dissolved in such a way that may be eliminated from the system.
20. (Q) What dosage of the Atomidine, and just how should it be given now?
    (A) This depends upon whether it is to be used as the heart stimulant, or whether other things are to be used. Do not mix!
    If the Atomidine is taken, - take one drop in half a glass of water each morning before any meal is taken, for four to five days. Then leave off. Then do this again the next week for four to five days, and leave off. Then if there are the other applications, ALL of these work together - but ALL must be administered!
21. (Q) How may I overcome forgetfulness?
    (A) This will be a natural reaction to the better mental reactions, as the general system is improved. For, the retention of memory and activity for the body is rather acute; and this will return as conditions improve.
22. (Q) When should I be able to return to the office?
    (A) This, of course, will depend upon responses that are made in the body. But in the course of time, if there is persistence - and most of all consistent reactions, in the applications and in that brought about, this should be soon.
23. (Q) When will I be capable of assuming full responsibilities?
    (A) This again depends upon how soon the body is able to control the reflexes in its own body. This, too, should be soon, - if there is the response which the body is capable of making.
24. (Q) How may better resistances be built in the blood?
    (A) By the application of all those things that have been indicated, - the massages, the eliminations, the building up of resistances by creating better assimilation and better eliminations for the body.
25. (Q) To what extent has the clot been absorbed?
    (A) About four-tenths.
26. (Q) Will it clear up entirely?
    (A) It should clear up entirely. Remember, the clot will be cleared entirely long before there is the full use of the body. For, as might be illustrated, these are as tubes that have collapsed along the energizing forces of ganglia that control the central nervous system, and the reflexes through sympathetic system. Thus the needs for keeping high eliminations, or above normal eliminations, to eradicate the disturbances in the body, see?
27. (Q) Were any brain cells destroyed?
    (A) If there had been, there would have been unconsciousness - not merely forgetfulness, at times. These are not destroyed. There are those that are not reflexing, - as the inability to flex the lower extremity, or the hand; but these are not destroyed. They may be rebuilt.
    Do those things indicated, then; prayerfully, consistently, persistently.

BACKGROUND

1. See 2366-6.
2. Has been taking Digitalis lately, though has left it off for weeks at a time. Has not been following all of the Reading instructions, - has not used Appliance in some time, nor the oil rubs. Mrs. Storey, Miss Wynne and Mr. Godfrey visited him and urged that he start over and do EVERYTHING as suggested. He is much improved, except cannot use his hand, and still has to drag one leg and foot.

REPORTS

1. 1/03/42 Weekly schedule of treatments for Mr. [2366] [by GD]:
   MONDAYS
   Atomidine - 1 drop in half a glass of water before breakfast.
   Wet Cell Appliance - 30 minutes at bedtime. Attach the copper plate to the brachial center (the 2nd and 3rd dorsal - between the shoulders, you see). Attach the nickel plate to the umbilical and lacteal duct plexus, - that is, four fingers from the navel center to the right and two fingers up from that point.
   The charging solution should be as follows:
   Copper Sulphate.............2 1/2 pounds, Sulfuric Acid C.P...........1 1/2 ounces, Zinc............................6 drams, Willow Charcoal...............1/2 pound.
   Change or renew this solution every 30 days.
   The Gold Solution should be in the proportions of one grain Chloride of Gold to each ounce of Distilled Water, and use at least four ounces. Change or renew this solution every fifteen days.
   Hot Rub: Use a rubber glove. Pour a small quantity into a saucer, after the solution is shaken well. Apply this ONLY along the cerebrospinal system, from the 2nd and 3rd cervical to at least the 9th dorsal, or to the lumbar axis (the flat part of the lower back). This will produce some irritation. Do not massage too heavily, but it will penetrate...and it will add to the ability of the system to respond to the osteopathic adjustments made. This combination of oils would be prepared in this manner:
   To 2 ounces of Nujol or Russian White Oil as the base, add - in the order named:
   Sassafras Oil...................1 ounce, Peanut Oil......................1 ounce, Olive Oil.....................1/2 ounce, Cedar Wood Oil................1/2 ounce, Pine Needle Oil...............1/2 ounce, Oil of Mustard................1/4 ounce.
   If this produces too much irritation, use plain Peanut Oil following same.
   TUESDAYS
   Atomidine - 1 drop in half a glass of water before breakfast. Osteopathic treatment - in the morning, according to last instructions in copy submitted for Dr. Richardson.
   Wet Cell Appliance - 30 minutes at bedtime. Attach the copper plate to the lumbar axis (the vertebra at the point in the spine just between the hip bones, you see). Attach the nickel plate to the umbilical and lacteal duct plexus (see Monday's schedule for details as to this plate's attachment).

   Peanut Oil Rub: This should follow the Appliance treatment. Begin at the base of the brain and go to the 9th and 10th dorsal, in a rotary motion but downward. Then begin at the toes, massaging the lower limbs in a circular motion toward the body and up to the 9th dorsal of the spine. Then begin at the fingertips and go in a rotary motion (around the arm and hand, you see) toward the body. Massage just what the body will absorb.
   WEDNESDAYS
   Atomidine - 1 drop in half a glass of water before breakfast.
   Wet Cell Appliance - 30 minutes at bedtime. Attach the copper plate to the brachial center (2nd and 3rd dorsal - between the shoulders, you see). Attach the nickel plate to the umbilical and lacteal duct plexus, according to schedule given for this plate on Mondays.

   GENERAL DIET AND ACTIVITIES
   Stay in the open and in the sunshine as much as possible. On dark, rainy days, use the ultra-violet if possible.
   Eat plenty of B-1, - such as whole wheat or whole grain, steel cut oats, whole or cracked wheat; carrots, beets, yellow peaches (canned), squash, etc.
   If there is a tendency for taking cold, start the ADIRON tablets, - one tablet with the evening meal in the beginning. Then if it is assimilated it may be increased to two tablets. These may be obtained at Burrow-Martin's.
   Keep up good general eliminations.
   Keep optimistic. Plan constructive things to do that will be helpful to others.
2. 1/17/42 Report by phone from Mrs. [...] to GD: Last night he had a bad spell - got to coughing and gurgling in his throat, - was afraid he'd have another attack. He hadn't taken the Digitalis in 2 wks., so she finally gave him some. Is afraid to not take it, because if anything happened to him and she hadn't given it to him she'd always blame herself - since that is what the doctors advise. So she wants to know whether to continue the other treatments, if she leaves off the Atomidine and takes the Digitalis again. We advised her to continue everything except the Atomidine, - then if he was able to have a long rest later from the Digitalis to take a course or round of the Atomidine again.
3. 2/09/42 Report by phone from Mrs. [...] to GD: "I'm changing him over to Dr. Hudgins. Dr. Richardson went to $2.50 on his treatments and was always so glum, acting as if he were doing us a favor every time we went. So will you please copy all the directions necessary for Dr. Hudgins? Mrs. Eggleston [Louise Eggleston] phoned the other day and urged me to do everything that the Rdg. says, forgetting about the Digitalis. I've left off the Atomidine and have been giving him the Digitalis, since the Rdg. said not to take both. Do you think the Gold also conflicts with the Digitalis?"
   GD told her to either follow the entire Rdg. and leave off the Digitalis, or else do what the doctors say alone and leave off the Rdg.
   So she said she'd try again doing everything and leaving off the Digitalis.
4. 4/09/42 A compilation of the suggestions for Osteopathically treating [2366]:
   2366-4
   -4/07/41: Now we find it would be well to have the deeper osteopathic adjustments; not so deep, to be sure, as to cause bruises or the like, but to force better drainages to be set up in all the centers that aid in eliminations being more properly established. In all the adjustments made, of course, keep the impulse going FROM the brain TOWARD the body. 2366-5
   -4/14/41: Q.1 What has caused the difficulties in walking? A.1 Stirring up the conditions that cause pressures upon locomotories. Q.2 Is this due to osteopathic treatments? A.2 Due to osteopathic treatments, as just indicated. If there will be given the massage so as to set up better drainages, and NOT stimulate circulation to head, it will be beneficial. Q.3 How should these massages be given? A.3 As just indicated, - one who understands osteopathy should understand how to set up drainages and NOT stimulation.

   -7/09/41: The osteopathic manipulative measures we would now change a bit; in that those nerve ends as come from the cerebrospinal system to the arm, especially, should be moved, - not as to bruise, but that the lesion which exists there may be broken up gradually. In making the adjustments, or breaking up of the lesion, go deeper - but CONTROL SAME by pressure upon both the vegetative center AND the lumbar axis AT THE SAME TIME. Then make the adjustment in each center following such manipulation.

6. 3/14/42 GD's ltr. to [2366]'s wife:
   Dear Mrs. [...]:
   Please pardon such a delay in answering your phone request of sometime ago. I meant to write you that very day, but it was impossible to go ahead with the Reading as scheduled; in fact, Mr. Cayce felt it was useless to get another Reading. He is positive that unless you follow every detail of the Reading it is better not to follow any of it.
   Of course, my personal feeling is that osteopathy would still be good for Mr. [2366] - even if you leave off everything else that the Reading suggested, but that is up to you. I DON'T think that you should use the Gold Solution if you are using the Digitalis.
   I am certainly sorry that things have turned out as they have, but I assure you that I can fully understand your position - and your feeling that it is necessary to hold on to the Digitalis as the doctors prescribed.
   I do hope Mr. [2366] will continue to improve, and if at any time you feel we can be of service, please don't hesitate to call on us.
