This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 17th day of December, 1940, in accordance with request made by the self - Dr. [2389], Ph.D., Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will answer the questions regarding this body, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2389].
3. Ready for questions.
4. (Q) Is there a lesion, that is a morbid change, in my spinal column, which is the basis of all my trouble, as the neurologists maintain?
   (A) As we find, and as we have indicated, this is the basis of the trouble. As to the position of this lesion, we find that this has not been indicated wholly correctly by the present neurologist. It is true that there are those conditions in the lumbar and sacral that are hindering the locomotion, but the BASIC disturbances - as we find - are in the dorsal and cervical area as we have first indicated.
5. (Q) Is there a diseased condition in the spinal cord itself, possibly the result of degeneration?
   (A) As we find, the incoordination between the centers - or between the cerebrospinal and sympathetic systems - CAUSES the inability of the activities of the plasm impulse in the cord. However, we find that this is not that of disease, as yet; it is rather dis-ease, and the lack of the return impulse of activity according to those reflexes from the brain centers. This is indicated in the inability of the body to raise feet, see? It is gradually being indicated in the numbness in the upper extremities, in the fingers; in the toes, as in portions of the calf of the leg and the like.
   Those administrations being made as to the diet are proving most beneficial, but to make the response of a permanent nature, or to remove the CAUSES - that is, the lesions, we find it is necessary to make those hydrotherapy applications AND the adjustments as we have indicated.
6. (Q) Why has the right leg always been so much weaker than the left?
   (A) Owing to the position of the lesion.
7. (Q) Will I ever be able to lift the right leg again sufficiently well to be relieved of my crutches?
   (A) This will depend upon whether or not those disturbances in the coccyx, the sacral and the lower dorsal are coordinated with the removal of pressures in the upper dorsal and lower cervical. This is necessary, in addition to the vital forces being administered in the present through the diet to replace those energies used.
   As we find, if the energies are released by the mechanical adjustments in the manner we have outlined, then - AS they are being released from the pressures produced by the lesions (and not before) - the use of Gold to the system, under very, VERY low voltage - not high but very low voltage - will assist in bringing the better conditions to the nerve system, direct.
   In that case, it should be applied - as we find - either through the low Wet Cell Appliance or through the B-Battery, with the connection passing through the Gold Solution (in the proportions of one grain to each ounce of distilled water - Chloride of Gold, see?). The negative plate would be of copper, the positive of nickel, using tubular lead for same, see? The attachment of the copper plate would be to the lumbar axis, while the nickel - through which the Gold Solution passes vibratorially - would be attached to the umbilicus and lacteal duct plexus. Such an attachment would be made for only twenty to thirty minutes each day, in the beginning. But do not use this unless the adjustments and hydrotherapy treatments are followed as previously outlined, see?
8. (Q) Why have I lost strength in my fingers, likewise my toes?
   (A) Because of natural pressures upon the areas directly connected with the lesions.
9. (Q) What causes my inability to sit comfortably? It feels as if I were sitting on a web of nerves just underneath the skin.
   (A) It is the natural result of pressures from the lesions indicated.
10. (Q) What causes the pain in my feet and legs, especially around the knee, when I stand or walk?
    (A) The degeneration, as indicated.
11. (Q) What causes the right leg to jerk (the knee and foot) at night so that I have to get up about every hour to quiet the right leg by sitting in my chair?
    (A) It's the same as the nerve reflexes, you see. And, as we find, there should be very DEFINITE changes made in regard to applications for removing those pressures or subluxations in the areas from which lesions are indicated as being the cause of the disturbance.
12. (Q) Is the treatment I have been receiving from Mr. Graf for about two weeks going to help me permanently?
    (A) As indicated, this is well, provided the pressures are removed that cause the condition. Otherwise, to overestimate nerve forces - even by the diet or by the use of those properties indicated that will carry the impulse in the nerve impulse in the nerve energy itself, and not remove the pressures - would cause greater irritation at times to the body; that is, greater PAIN in the nerve impulses, see?
13. (Q) What has caused my left hand to become numb?
    (A) As given.
    Do these things as we have outlined, now, in the present, if we would bring or find the better conditions for the body.

   Dear Mr. Cayce:
   Thank you so much for the second reading.
   Unfortunately I cannot do, as I told you once before, what you now again suggest, namely, I cannot go up to Mr. Reilly's place for the hydro-therapy treatments. I think I wrote you that I tried it one evening and Mr. Reilly himself said it would not work. The physical effort would do more more harm than the treatment would do me good. I am continuing with Mr. Graf who visits me in my home.

   Have yours of the 13th - do hope you are finding some improvements with the treatments - do hope it will be possible for Mr. Graf to give the suggestions a trial. Believe they would help.
