Edgar Cayce Readings, 2441-1

HLC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2441].
As we find, conditions are very good in the physical forces of the body. There ARE tendencies and inclinations, but we find that if precautions are taken and these general tendencies are taken into consideration, there may be brought a much better general attitude - And thus change much that has disturbed the body at times.
In giving the analysis of the conditions here, we find that the psychological as well as the pathological effect must be taken into consideration.
These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body, [2441] we are speaking of:
There is a very good blood supply. We find those tendencies towards the lacking of the form in the blood supply which produces the plasm of coagulation. Thus, at times there are the tendencies for an irritation in portions of the body. These as experienced by the body OFTEN are soon changed by the body MAKING the application for CHANGING the general thought or attitude towards same.
This, then, indicates that some GLANDULAR disturbance in this direction is apparent in the system.
We find that the nervous system is very good, yet the body at times - with its mental efficiency - finds it necessary to produce, or to maintain, a routine in its general activity and its general reaction. Thus, as indicated, the pathological effects are caused, or changed, by the psychological, or the MENTAL processes of the individual entity.
At periods there has been a tendency in the lacteal duct area for there to be adhesions; or not adhesions so much as an altering in the plastic reaction in the area from which the assimilated or digested foods pass INTO the jejunum.
Hence there have been periods when there was not a pain, but an awareness of the conditions in those areas between the gall duct center - on the right side, and the caecum on the right side also, see?
With the unconsciousness, these have at times, as in rest, produced a spasmodic reaction between the sympathetic nerve centers AND the cerebrospinal.
Then, these are NOT seizures; neither are they of any type or form of what may be called "fit" or spasmodic reaction. It is rather the plastic reaction in that area causing this disturbance.
Yet with the normal physical consciousness, and the abilities indicated by the body to CONTROL the mental, these pass away.
The SOURCES, as indicated, are in the glandular system as related to the activity of the lacteals in their relationship to assimilation. And these at times react with the glands of reproduction in the genital organs of the body; producing a reaction through same that at times disturbs the body-mental.
As to the organs of the body, then, - we find that brain reflexes with the nervous system are good.
The activities of the organs of the sensory system, nominally, are good.
Throat, bronchi, lungs, larynx, - these show some minor congestion at times, and the tendency for the body, with the nerve flexes, not to stammer or stutter but to stop and to DIRECT its choice of activity of the vocal reactions in the body.
The digestive disturbances, as indicated, only arise from the normal changes produced by the varied activities of the assimilating system.
The sources or causes of the glandular reaction in the lacteals are from a pressure produced there during those periods when there was the care for the umbilical cord or center, by too great a pressure, and a cold or congestion that once caused some inflammation, during those first ten to fifteen days of the body-physical development.
And it will be found that this occurred during the first ten to fifteen days of the body's activity in THIS experience.
This is not a prenatal condition, then; it is not that as may be carried or given to others, or that would cause any mental or physical deficiency in offspring; but we find that the body itself would be materially aided BY such activities through the system.
Hence the need is only to be rid of fear itself. For, fear - to be sure - reacts upon this body in those ways as indicated, to produce pathological - from psychological - reactions.
In making application of those things as we find that would be beneficial for this body:
We would use an exercise that would make for the stretching of the abdominal muscles; (though not so severe as to make for a straining), especially in the right side. This will also make for better conditions through the pelvic and hip areas. Take this night and morning, in the beginning only about two or three circles or movements. Place the feet against the wall, or the like, with the body lying face down, you see. Raise upon the hands, maintaining the balance by the feet being braced against the wall, and circle the hip and torso; first to the right, then to the left.
Afterwards massage thoroughly into that area from the lower portion of the rib, especially on the right side, to the lower portion of the caecum, Pure Peanut Oil; just what the body will absorb. Sponge off, not with water but with a dry cloth.
In the diet, - have more of those foods that carry B-1 vitamins, - these with A, D and G, will be the beneficial effects for the body.
Keep these up for at least three weeks, then leave off a week, - then do them again; continuing in this manner for several months.
And with the maintaining of that attitude, that full consciousness of the Creative Forces working in and through thee, we will find that there will be brought into the experience of self, and others, the fulfilling of that for which the entity has entered this present experience; bringing better physical and mental attitudes, and a near NORMAL physical body.
Ready for questions.
(Q) Would having a child endanger the child with a tendency to these same attacks?
(A) As just indicated, it is not of the nature that would be transmitted to an offspring. This would be rather HELPFUL to this body, see?
(Q) Should I wait until after the treatments are taken to have the child?
(A) To be sure! You would have to, anyway!

BACKGROUND

1/23/41 [2441]'s letter to EC:
"I come to you through the influence of a very beautiful friend, Mrs. [1100]. Her lovely voice was the part of her to which I was attracted first. She is so completely willing to help others that one cannot resist the temptation to tell her your troubles. Well I did and then as we talked and grew to know, perhaps I should say renew an old friendship, she told me of you, your unusual power and your complete dedication in aiding humanity. Of the association, the work it is doing and I knew that at last I too could be helped.
"She did not urge me in any way but at last the desire to know more about the association grew so that finally I asked her the proceedings necessary for becoming a member and having a reading. It was always a desire of mine to be a nurse perhaps now a healer, but because of my weakness my parents persuaded me to become a teacher. I have grown to like teaching yet feel that somewhere else I might be doing a better piece of work. Hence I do desire a Life Reading so that I might know whether there are latent talents and abilities which should be developed.
"But at this time I should like to have a Physical Reading to see whether I may be helped to overcome my weakness. It is a subject which I cannot discuss very freely. I hope that it is not necessary for you to know the exact nature of the ailment. Yet if it would help I would be glad to assist you. Even my husband does not know the real name of this trouble. We have been so happy that it did not seem necessary to reveal it to him. Yet, the question of children has to be answered. This too, is one of the reasons why I am writing. A great longing surges through my being for a son yet FEAR has kept me from having one. And the doctors advise me not to have one of course. Yet it is said by the mystics that 'He who is humble and Christ-like will not be plunged in fear, doubt, or weakness.'
"Perhaps my faith is not strong enough. I must KNOW whether I should be causing the child I bring into the world to be handicapped. This should never be.
"Then too, there are others I do so want to help. I have two and perhaps three more persons who are waiting for my reading so that I might sign for them slips as Mrs. [1100] did for me. I am home every morning. I await your answer."

1/28/41 Questions:
(1) Do I have epilepsy? (2) Can this disturbance which occurs during the night be cured? (3) If so, what means or methods are conducive for attaining freedom from these nightly attacks? (4) Are these attacks inherited or do they come because of improper control of the entity's whole self? (5) Would having a child endanger the child with a tendency to these same attacks? [I've only had 1 of these in the past 2 years.] (6) What has been the cause of this disturbance?

2/08/41 [2441]'s letter to EC: "Have you ever seen a bird that has been caged let go free! That is truly the experience that I had Wednesday the 5th when I received the physical reading which you gave me. Truly a miracle! Words are so inadequate to express everything - God Bless You is about the best I can do - Thank You seems so weak! The full significance is just beginning to sink into consciousness.
"And then to receive your letter today asking me for a snapshot of myself. I find that I do not have one but a friend [2520] of mine is going to take some of me tomorrow. She will be writing to you this week about her husband [2453] and perhaps he will do the writing. He is expecting to have a physical reading. So when the snapshots are developed I'll certainly send you one.
"I want to tell you about my teacher in the Arcane School in New York. Her name is Mrs. [1479] and she is now ill. I have just written to her and told her about you and I sent one of the applications with my name on the place where it says recommended by: and at the bottom beside Approved: She is so beautiful a soul that I know that I am not breaking any of the rules of the Association by not witnessing her signature. She may not even write for a Reading but I only hope that I may be the means of healing there. She is so wonderful!
"I know some day we will meet. Perhaps when I have a Life Reading we will find some past relationship.
"My husband [2462] has been bothered for a few years with severe headaches and we should like to have a physical reading for him. He will write you a note and ask some questions.

2/12/41 [2441]'s letter to EC:
"I am sending three snapshots taken at the side of the schoolhouse. The weather here hasn't been very conducive to good picture taking but today here was an ideal spring day.
"Can you not tell that this person whom you see in these snaps is very happy with the knowledge which you have been able to convey to her? I know that mentally she feels so secure!
"I should like to have you tell me, if you are able, something about the impression which you had of me and then since you have seen the pictures your reaction, too. I am interested to know what your first impression was like." Sincerely, [2441]
2/17/41 EC's letter to [2441]: "Thank you so much for yours of the 12th - and for the snapshots. While have and do have many experiences, have never gotten over the thrill of some new ones, during the entire years of experience with the readings. Had never before brought back the feeling of having seen the individual had given reading for, not even with my own immediate family, such as had with the giving of your reading. And when open your letter and saw your picture, well couldn't believe my own eyes hardly, for in the picture you looked just as felt had seen you, even to the coat or jacket, yet am sure you were not wearing that when the reading was given. What causes that we do not know - the impressions gotten - but is why we are carefully recording all such and see if we can figure out some law or reason why this occurs now and then and not at other times - for each time might say it has been a new form the information has taken. Just as it some time ago, called Mrs. [1100]'s attention to a tree near a new apartment she had moved into, though of course had myself never been there, and as she told us she had not paid any attention to the tree before her attention was called to it. Or another occasion - told a man in Florida there was a bell ringing near him and was distracting his attention from meditating. Now this, am wondering if would know you were I to meet you on the street. Am happy with and for you, that the information has helped even thus far, and feel sure will go much farther.

3/01/41 [2441]'s letter to EC:
"Since I have known about you I have been interested in finding knowledge explaining the phenomena regarding psychic manifestations. I found the following in an Inner Culture Magazine to which I subscribe.
"'The way to the superconscious mind from the conscious lies through the subconscious. Everyone has to pass through the psychic or subconscious state in order to reach the superconscious state.' Then the article later on states, 'Psychic manifestations and psychic concentration are condemnable when they manifest in one's consciousness against his will. But when psychic manifestations and visions can be demonstrated at will it shows great concentration and mastery of the subconscious mind.' "And in a book called THE SCIENCE OF INITIATES on the chapter concerning Death and After, I found this quotation I thought would be helpful in the work of the Association, although I do not know just the type of study and research that this group does. But here is the quotation - the question is asked, 'What is this seed atom, in the left ventricle of the heart?' and the answer is given, 'It is the nucleus round which the material of the body is ingathered from the plane of manifestation. At the passing out of incarnation, the Ego abstracts the higher bodies with a spiral movement and also abstracts the forces of the Permanent Atom of the physical body. It is this atom which remains constant thru' every life, and comes to renewed activity at the coming again into each incarnation. It is therefore called the seed-atom. It resides at the pole of the heart in the left ventricle. It is only when this seed-atom is ruptured by the snapping of the cord that the physical life is at an end. Question: Later, what is associated with the Seed-atom? Answer. The story of our sufferings in the purging fires of the postmortem experience is indelibly imprinted upon the seed-atom. This the Ego abstracts with the higher bodies and keeps permanently from life to life. It is Our Book of Remembrance. Therefore, those sufferings that are most imprinted become in the next life as hands laid upon us. WE REMEMBER! Our unconscious memory, as the psychologist would say! The man lives on after the chord is snapped, clothed in the vesture of his desire-body on the various spheres or modifications of the Astral Plane. These worlds of the soul are not to be conceived as being differentiated in space. They occupy the same space; therefore, while we are embodied on the physical plane, we are also dwellers in the other worlds of our planetary existence - planes of finer and finer modifications of matter, including the Devachanic or Spiritual world. Thus it is, that the so-called spirit-world is not outside or beyond - extensions in Space - but within, around and about us, and at every moment in the movement of the cyclic drama we call life and death.' And then goes on to say, 'The Spirit must return to its own world between incarnations in order to possess itself of new resources and richer for the pilgrimage through the next experience in physical embodiment. Hence, in its own world it comes under its own laws of growth, expansion, in ratio as it immerses itself in the life of the multitudinous conditions which constitute the life of Devachan. In brief, the Spirit now works unhampered (after the fires of cleansing) upon its own nature, drawing its nourishment from the eternal fountains; distilling the spiritual essence into the cup of its own being, that its next pilgrimage through the physical world may be a higher rhythm of expression.'
"And with those quotations which I offer from my studies as helps to other students I should like to say that I do desire a Life Reading at this time. To me, my life has seemed very eventful and there are certain persons in my life I should like to know about their relationship to me in other lives. Also questions which I should like answered: These are the persons: Mr. Edgar Cayce [294], Mrs. [1100], Mrs. [...], my mother, Mr. [...], my father, who disappeared in 1931. I should like to know whether he is still living, where, and what condition he is in at the present time. Mr. [2462], my husband. Mr. Lawrence Bergmann Wallis, a friend who showed me a new way of life. Through him I saw some very penetrating 'eyes' whom at the time I thought was the Christ. Since then I believe they were the eyes of the Master M. Is this true? What was the significance of the appearance of the eyes to me? Mrs. [2520].
"The questions: Whether in my meditation I make the proper preparation and how may I perfect the technique? How may I hasten my evolution? What should I be accomplishing in this life for the greatest service? Would it be possible to tell the Initiation, if any, which I have had! How may I prepare myself for others? Are there other persons like you, Mr. Cayce, in the world? What was the meaning of the smock that I was wearing in my pictures but not at the time of the physical reading given me? - You called it a coat or jacket.
"I want to say that some years ago you gave a Life Reading for [1479], my teacher in the Arcane School. She is the one I sent the application blank to and the other day she returned it and thanked me. She is better now and so does not feel that a physical reading is necessary.
"I wish I might be there for the Life Reading but I feel that the time that is elapsing until the June Convention I might be profiting from the reading. I realize at last the value of time.

3/06/41 EC's letter to [2441]: "Thanks for yours of the first. Will be very happy to take the Life reading for you. Am most anxious to know just where along the way we have met before, as well as the association with Mrs. [1100]. Usually the Life reading is a most fantastic story, brief in many ways yet very expansive.
"The quotations you give are most interesting. We are anxious to have as much of this as we may, for we are trying to make a study of the phenomena in all its phases. What you give about the Seed-atom is most interesting, as we in one group are making a special study of glands, as related to life [See [281] Series on glands and The Revelation]. Am sure you would find much of it most interesting. I do not know just how to describe this to you, will enclose one of the papers. As you will see it is a part of a series of readings on the subject. Is most interesting, and believe can be very helpful to many.
"Am making the appointment for your Life reading for the afternoon of the 11th - 3:30 to 4:30 EST. Hope that will be convenient for you. You didn't give it, but believe am correct you were born [2441]. Was there a middle name?
