2/03/42 Letter from [
2514] to EC: "You'll never know how
thrilled I was when I received my rdg. I knew I was lots
better but to have you tell me so was marvelous. Week before
last Dr. Gene [Gene Barlaban, D.C.] rechecked the places on
my back. As soon as she saw me she said, 'Oh, my dear, you
are so much better.' She said there was so much difference
in my arms, neck, back, and skin as a whole. That was most
encouraging.
"I had my first beef juice this afternoon. My, but it
certainly [is] delicious - what an easy way to eat a steak!
I had three teaspoonsful. Tonight I had seared liver for
supper. I want to ask you about the liver. Should the liver
be calf of any certain kind? How should it be cooked. Does
this include brains? What kind? How cooked?
"I tried to get the Acigest and Calcios here and in
Nashville, but they don't have it, so will have to order
it from New York.
"Today I've been so nervous, and my knees have ached so bad.
Lately however I've felt real good.
"Dr. Gene has been so interested in me. She calls real often
asking about me. Today she called asking if I drink plenty
of water. I'm sure I should drink more than I do, but am
trying to increase it all the time. Shouldn't I drink lots
- is sweet milk all right for me to drink?
"Mother saw and talked to Mrs. [
2526] yesterday. Mother
said she looked so bad. I do wish she could arrange to take
all her treatments. We called her today, and she said she
felt better today.
"I've been worried about anyone catching my disease. I asked
in my last reading if it was contagious but it wasn't
answered. Could you possibly ease my mind?"
1. What is pink place on top of my head? Treatment?
2. Can anything be done for my knees?
3. Is my disease catching? Is it the same disease I had
when a child?
4. In case Castor Oil cannot be obtained in the future,
could anything else be used as a substitute?
3/24/42 Letter: "In the past six weeks much has happened.
Of course I'm certainly not well but I do believe I'm lots
better. I'm writing you for a Ck. Rdg. Any hour that you
set will suit me fine, for I'll arrange to be here at home.
If only something could be done about my knees. I feel
real good sitting or lying down but when I try to walk it's
another story. My knees are so weak they hardly hold me up.
The places behind my knees aren't quite so thick but they
still look terrible. So if I'm going to be able to go to
the Congress in June something must be done about my knees.
"What are we going to do if we can't get Castor Oil? The
price of the oils is sky high and still going up. The war
doesn't suit me at all as far as the oils are concerned!
Is there anything else we could use if we can't get the
Castor Oil in times to come? Thank you for your kindness."
