This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 23rd day of September, 1942, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [2514], Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Present: Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.

TEXT

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with further suggestions for corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2514]; this we have had before.
3. As we find, some conditions are improved; some are not so well.
4. This disturbance is of such a nature as to be very aggravating, very discouraging at times.
5. But if there will be kept the correct mental attitude, not giving way and becoming too easily discouraged, we may bring through and rid the body of these disturbances.
6. As for the sores, or where tissue has become so hardened as to cause tightness, soreness, and to be very disagreeable, especially on the hip or on the cheek of the hip, - we would give particular attention to these areas in the present; this larger one, as well as the smaller or sore place, and under the knees.
7. Of mornings, - daily, - bathe off those areas, - that is, the sores and broken tissues, - with a weak solution of Bichloride, very weak - half a tablet to a gallon of water, see? Then apply Unguentine (on gauze) over the area. This would remain on during the day. In the evening when this has gotten sore, or causes itching or irritation, cleanse off; that is, remove, and GENTLY sponge off with plain water in which there is put, to the quart, a tablespoonful of Glyco-Thymoline.
8. Then apply the Ointment that has been indicated, that has the Icthyol base, see?
9. This should, within ten days, make a great change as to all these areas in the present.
10. Do not leave off the Castor Oil Packs. It is not necessary to use these now more than three times a week, - that is, an hour or two each day for three days in succession out of each week, - but not on those areas where the compresses or the Unguentine applications are made. But on the rest of the body, from the heels even to the back of the neck, these would be applied sometime during each week, at least three days out of each week.
11. And the vibrations of the Wet Cell Appliance must be kept strictly according to those suggestions given.
12. In the attempted activity, don't give way because it hurts to move about, but DO NOT make such movements as to cause the sores to break open, bleed or run, or cause the tissue under same to be so strained as to allow the infection to go deeper in.
13. The rest we would keep in those manners indicated; save we would discontinue the Salts Packs in the present.
14. Do these things for the present, and we will give further instructions as conditions change.

REPORTS

1. 10/16/42 Mother's letter to EC: "Well, we received your last rdg. and are trying to follow out instructions as given but somehow it seems that we are having a little hard time with [2514].
   "She was very elated over the thoughts of being able to leave off the packs some and a shorter period too. In several ways it seems that she is very much improved. Almost all of the bad sores are well except the big one and it is healing fine but her legs hurt so bad - says there are pains through them like knives sticking in her. Behind her knees are better but improve so very slowly. They have been very, very sore since using the Unguentine.
   "For some reason her knee & leg ache as soon as night comes on. Do you think it is the atmosphere and could you make any suggestions. The worst trouble we have with her is her crying and not being able to sleep. After her massage at night she goes to bed and by the time she should be asleep she gets wide awake, gets very nervous and then starts crying. This goes on until after midnight & then it wears off. This is mighty hard on the rest of us who have to work. She has been extremely nervous lately and hurts worse lying down than sitting up. I've had to give her machine to her sitting up lately and some days she cries the whole time in her oil packs.
   "If you can offer any suggestions to make her more comfortable we all would appreciate it. No one knows but us what she goes through and as we are not calling any Dr. I have no one to go to.
   "Some of these things may have to come out in the next rdg. but thought maybe you might help us in some way.
   "Otherwise she just looks grand. The condition of her skin is fine and she is prettier than she ever was but - a little fat. People won't believe she's sick to look at her. If she could walk I think the exercise would help a lot. Thanks to you."
2. 10/20/42 Letter from EC to the mother: "Have yours of the 16th - am sorry to hear Mrs. [2514] is having such a time of it, can understand just how one would get the 'all overs' with such a condition. Believe, Mrs. [...] until time for another reading, that I would give her Aspirin but with each two tablets give her one of soda. Even if she takes this two - three times a day, don't believe this will bother her, may have to be a bit more careful of her eliminations with taking this but give the other things a chance to work.
   "Do hope this will answer for her at this time, never like to suggest a sedative at any time but there are times when it is better to take something like this than to have her nerves so torn up by pain. Be sure and let me know how this works with her, after the first three - four days, won't you please, and if doesn't answer will try a reading for her - no charge to her at all.
   "With every good wish."
3. 11/24/42 Letter from [2514] to EC: "I have been trying to get a ltr. written to you for 2 wks. but am just now getting it written.
   "Mother wrote you several weeks ago what an awful time I was having. For about 2 wks. there I certainly did have a time. I'm sleeping a little better now. I believe if I could do a good hard day's work and be real tired at night, I could go to bed and sleep fine.
   "I have an ordeal to go through with, and that's to go to the dentist. I'm scared to death of a dentist and I have quite a bit of work to be done including having my first tooth pulled. It is a wisdom tooth and has given me a time for about a week. My dentist is out of town this week so maybe I can get started next week. I've often wondered if my wisdom teeth could be part of my trouble? Dr. Dunett may pull all of them for they are really too crowded.
   "I'm writing you for a ck. rdg. Are all the ck. rdg's going to be $10.00?
   "My knees certainly are lots better but they still aren't well. They get to a certain stage then seem to stop healing. That horrible shooting of pains in my knees has stopped and am I thankful. They are still stiff and the skin is so tight. I'm anxious to get to walking so I can take a Sunday School class. They need teachers so bad at church. Oh, there are so many, many things I need and want to do, and with God's help I hope to soon be about my duties. My baby needs me worst of all. He is at a very important age and I do so want him to be a good sweet little fellow. He has had a hard time of it but I hope to make it all up to him. One great joy is to have your little child crawl into bed beside you. But I've missed all that because I was so sore or nervous I couldn't stand to be touched. Twice lately he has gotten in bed with me - we were both thrilled to death. He very understanding about my being sick and has been so sweet to help take care of me.
   "I've had a little new sore to come on my knee, otherwise my condition seems improved. I was so in hopes I wouldn't have any more sores.
   "We have had a time getting raw milk. Because of lack of hired help, tires, gas, etc. the raw milk people are going out of business, selling their milk to the Dairy here. They have only Pasteurized milk. I found one woman who can bring me a quart once a week but guess when her tires are gone I'll just have to buy a cow.
   "I was so thrilled when you left off my oil pack 2 days last time. It makes me [feel as] if like I might really be on the homeward stretch at last.
   "There are so many questions I'd like to ask but am sure you would never get them all answered, however here are a few: (a) Why can't I go to sleep and when finally asleep why can't I stay sleepy? (b) What cause these drawn muscles or whatever they are across the top of my legs? On the days they are tight it is all I can do to walk. Is there anything I can do for it? (c) Is there anything else I should use on my knees?
   "Anytime you set for the rdg. will suit me. I hope and pray this rdg. will be encouraging, and that I'm getting along all right."
