12/02/31 Dear [
1180] & Mrs. [
2519]:-
We were indeed very glad to have yours of the 1st of
November. We like to keep in touch with those whom we feel
are interested in our undertakings, whom we feel have some
knowledge of what we are trying to do. So many people get
the idea that we have an axe to grind, or that we have some
sort of a racket we are trying to induce others to subscribe
to; and it is a pleasure and a consoling thought to know
there ARE those who know such is not the case, but that we
have only a sincere desire to be of help to those who feel
they may obtain some suggestion or advice through these
channels.
I'm sorry to know that business has been so bad there. The
depression is not a local thing anywhere, it seems, but
a world wide thing, and people do not know how to adjust
themselves to such different circumstances. They become
panicky, and think and act very unnatural in many ways. I
hope that you will come through alright.
You know we no longer have the use of the hospital. Mr.
Blumenthal saw fit to take it back. Some patients are being
cared for by Sister, Mrs. Hesson, and those helping. It
would do your heart good, Mrs. [
2519], to see Mrs. [
409]
now, as she walks in for her treatments. She still limps a
little, and uses a cane. The information has never allowed
her as yet to put her whole weight on that limb, but for
it to be of use at all is quite a wonderful thing to her,
I am sure. She looks so well! There is only a very small
discharge from the incision that was made to remove the
shattered portion. I'm sure it is going to heal in the next
few months so that she will be almost normal, anyway. [

- I saw him just a few weeks ago. He has grown quite a bit.
He got along WONDERFULLY until this summer, after he had left
the hospital when it was closed, and he had some setbacks
from his stomach, and the like, but he looks very well and is
getting on very, very, nicely. Mr. [
2] is at home - I hear
from him occasionally. He can see sufficiently now to take
care of most of the house, while the others are away at their
daily tasks. He is not completely restored, but he is at
present getting some insurance on his illness and I'm sure
is constantly a little on the improve.
On our recent visit to New York we had some unpleasantness
with the authorities there. You may have seen something in
the Associated Press news. This, to be sure, came to naught,
and we have a clean bill in the city with the authorities,
or the privilege to carry on our work there in line with our
organization, The Association for Research and Enlightenment,
Inc. By the way, I don't believe you have ever become a
member of this new organization. I'm enclosing an Active
Membership application for your convenience. We are getting
all our real friends to sign these applications, thereby
signifying that they are in accord with what we are
attempting to do. You can contribute just as little or
just as much as you feel you can for the membership fee. If
you have any friends who are desirous of becoming members,
we have some Associate Membership blanks that we can send
for you to give them. The Active Membership blanks are for
those, particularly, who have helped towards the work in the
past, and who are our Official Representatives in the
present. You are one of those.
We are all fairly well except my father, who has quite a bad
spell of asthma. He's up again, though, and I hope will soon
be his normal self. He has been failing considerable since
his severe spell some years ago.
Let us hear from you whenever you can. We no longer live
at the 35th Street house, but are right on the ocean in the
house in front of the hospital. Our address is just Virginia
Beach.
Hoping you are both well, and that you will let us hear from
you - with all good wishes and love, I am
Sincerely, [EC:GD]
1/28/33 Mr. [
1180]'s letter stated: "Mrs. [
2519] and my
folks are real well."
3/25/36 Mr. [
1180]'s letter: "[
2519] and myself are both
quite well, however we have complained a great deal in the
past of first one ache and then another, but I don't think
there is anything wrong with either one of us but what
a little prosperity would readily cure, if there ever is
such a thing any more."
6/03/36 Mr. [
1180] obtained another business reading,
1180-8.
2/12/41 Mr. [
1180]'s letter: "You asked how we are
physically. We are pretty good."
6/09/41 Mrs. [
2519] submitted questions for a Life Reading.
