7/12/41 Mrs. [
2530]'s letter to EC:
Association for Research,
My dear Mr. Cayce:-
Thank you for your letter of July 8th. My Life Reading
arrived along with your letter. I am delighted with my
reading, and shall set out immediately on the work as
indicated. Some years ago I took a course in "Short Story
Writing", but did not follow it up. Then when my reading
came giving me specific directions regarding writing I was
amazed. Somehow I feel I am permanently anchored and can
go forward from here with complete assurance.
I do however, have questions concerning the interpretation
of a few paragraphs that I would appreciate help on. -
Page 1 [Par. 3] - "What a murky cover!" I wondered if this
meant my thinking was cloudy and confused?
Page 2 - paragraph 4 [Par. 11] - "Know, as He has given, it
must indeed that offences come, but woe unto him - or her -
by WHOM they come!" This I cannot interpret at all. What
does the word "offences" mean?
Page 3 - paragraph 2 [Par. 17]. "Uranus, etc., all are a
portion of the urges...as also Saturn; though this has its
influence that is not so good. The control that self has
gotten in part in these directions, the changes have caused
disturbance...but may be met. I am an astrological student,
so I understand the terms, and I do have a troublesome
Saturn, but I do not understand the last sentence in that
paragraph at all.
Page 3 - paragraph 5 [Par. 20]. Here is indeed an important
paragraph to me, my "anchor" I call it. I find here the
words "when finding self" inserted before the words "to
write". Does this mean - stilling the conscious mind and
drawing from the super-conscious? Does it mean that I should
not spend time in further study of short story writing. I
have worked on meditation for sometime now and do not find
it easy, rather I seem to have some fear of it.
In this same paragraph the name of a publishing company
"Satterfield and Company" is given. Our Public Library does
not find this Company listed in any of its catalogues, and
I wondered if it could have been mis-spelled.
In closing let me again express my extreme pleasure in my
reading and most assuredly I will let you know when my first
"Brain-child" is published. Somehow I feel that success is
a foregone conclusion - thanks to you.
Sincerely, [

7/15/41 EC's letter to Mrs. [
2530]:
Dear Mrs. [
2530]:-
Have yours of the 12th - am glad to know you are pleased with
the information. Am sure you will find as practically every
one else - that the oftener you read over the information,
the more you will get out of same - it has a way of growing
on you. You will even declare there are helps that you did
not see as you read it before. But to try and answer some of
your questions -
P.P. - 1 "what a murky cover" do not know as to what this
refers to - unless it be - the confusions as have been yours
from time to time - indecisions, inclined to condemn self.
P. 2 - "must indeed needs be that offences come" this a
quotation from Jesus. Here He warns us - we need not expect
that others will always see as we do - and that we may expect
to be come offended, even when we are doing our best - yes -
when we are doing exactly right - but "woe unto him by whom
such offence comes" thus warning us never, in so far as
possible - must we offend any one.
P. 3 - Uranus - is considered the planet of extremes - and
indicates that there have been times when you have been from
one extreme to another in every sort of a way - discouraged -
and raised to exaltation almost in the same breath - one day
very despondent - the next every thing hopeful.
Paragraph 5. Yes - correct, still self in meditation - draw
more from the superconscious than from the mental self, - am
sure your studies have already prepared you, and if you are
to write Bible stories - study there much, and depend on HIS
guidance in every thing. Do not know about the name of the
company - there may now be such a company - or it may be a
similar spelling - like Staffield or something similar.
Thank you Mrs. [
2530] - and read again and again - and can
we help - please don't hesitate to write me.
Sincerely
[signed] Edgar Cayce
