This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 4th day of September, 1942, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [2533], Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Present: Edgar Cayce; Hugh Lynn Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.

TEXT

1. HLC: You will have before you the life existence in the earth plane of [2533], born December 22, 1904 in ..., Virginia, and the earthly existence of this entity as Ex-der-enemus in the Egyptian land. Considering information given in his Life Reading of July 8, 1941 and the information given in his Reading of December 8, 1941, you will give a biographical life of the entity in that day and plane of earthly existence, outlining the early training and education, the later influences and economic conditions of the land that afforded the opportunity for this entity to provide insurance to families, the relation of the State to these groups and individuals, and such other information as may be helpful in the development of the entity in the present. You will answer the questions that may be asked:
2. EC: Yes - we are given here the records of that entity Ex-der-enemus, now known as [2533] together with the information which has been indicated through these channels of that day or period of activity of the entity in the earthly experience as Ex-der-enemus.
3. In giving an understanding and an interpretation of the period, in such a manner that this may be used or made a helpful experience for the entity, - it is well to give something of the period.
4. As we have intimated through these channels, there had been in that land or country those turmoils which had brought about rebellions, as well as those periods of reconstruction when, with the recall of the Priest and the activities of those peoples from Atlantis, order in a form had been restored - and there began the period of expansion.
5. Among those activities, as we have intimated, there was the establishing of homes, - which was an outcome or a growth, or an unfoldment, from those experiences that had caused the banishment of the Priest. These also were a part of the activities that had been suggested or propounded from the leaders Ax-Tell and Ajax [See 470-33, Par. 19-A, explaining that these two names refer to one person.] from the Atlantean land, as had been a part of the experience that had brought about the greater bettering of feeling and the manifestation of a unity among those peoples in Atlantis before its final destruction.
6. Also there were those experiences in which families, groups and individuals had offered themselves as channels through which there would be the regeneration of the race, by the experiences of those who were chosen as channels - or parents - by their activities through the Temple of Sacrifice. These were activities to eradicate such as might be called disease and disturbances that might become hindrances to the body itself in the preparation for fatherhood or motherhood.
7. And then there were the teachings and education through the Temple Beautiful, which would be the same as represented in today's universal school or college or institution of learning.
8. This entity, then Ex-der-enemus, was one of those born in that environ, as such a development and an unfoldment began. And with the establishing of the homes, and the environs or surroundings of same, there came about those periods when there were losses by the natural sources, or nature, - fire, lightning, floods and the like, as well as death - that hindered, or caused the needs for the State to become responsible for the activities of the individual groups who became dependent upon such sources or natures.
9. Thus those activities as might be called the first purposes, as well as the father of insurance, or assurance, to groups, to individuals, were a part of this entity's labors; collaborating same with the ruler - or the secular ruler, or the king, Araaraart, as well as with the Priest and those rulers that had been in authority through that experience in the Atlantean land.
10. Thus we find that the entity in its education was brought up in the school, as would be termed, in the Temple Beautiful; and along with the first ideas of vocational guidance or teachings that were a part of this institutional work, by the various groups that were designated through their choice or their abilities or their selection because of abilities. There we find that the entity presented the first idea as to how there might be assurances to individual families as to how their own affairs, their own homes, their own farms, their own places of business, their own choice of the selective work, might be carried on, by groups contributing to a general fund that was handled by the individual entity; and there was the license given to each group - with certain numbers to be applied to each group, and each contributing so much to the welfare. Thus the whole sum was given to those to whom such assurance was given for protection; as to life expectancy and as to incidents or accidents or things that caused losses to such individual groups.
11. To be sure, in the beginning there was little of that we term today as life insurance, or assurance. For, the life expectancy in those periods extended over a hundred, and hundreds of years; and thus these were not accounted for, but rather there were those groups that chose to lay aside the outer shell when the life expectancy - as would be termed in the present - was completed, as it had been laid out by those who gave the assignment, or the activity as was chosen by the individual. Or, there was chosen by the individual that period or particular part of the experience that was its contribution to the life of the period - and this was outlined or given.
12. Thus, what might be called the assurance, or insurance, of fraternal activities was also a part of those groups. For, these were combined into those groups that were workers with the state, workers with the teaching, or those who administered, or the farmers of grain, as well as the makers of paper, the builders of homes, the builders for the state. Each of these groups had a form of assurance, or insurance; which was in the form or manner of the first unions, as would be called today. These worked together for the betterment of the WHOLE, and not for individual exploitation of the so-called capitalists. For, there were not such in those experiences. For, as was the custom in a land that the entity became a part of, or is at present, - those that worked not didn't eat, - save those that were disabled or who had not come to the age of accountability for their own supply, or for their activity.
13. But what later became known as the vocational help, or the groups that were educated by themselves, among themselves, was set as a part of that curriculum in the Temple Beautiful.
14. If these were to be changed from one environment to another, then they took degrees - as would be called today - through this station or channel - and were thus fortified or prepared for those changes that could or would be made from one group to another.
15. Thus the activity of the entity, - then known as Ex-der-enemus, - was in organizing or preparing, or making for this correlating of the ideas and ideals that brought about such a form of activity among the peoples of Egypt; this, of course, coming in that period quite a time - some seventy or seventy-seven years - after the return of the Priest to the authority or power, but during the period when still the Priest Ra-Ta and Araaraart were considered the young rulers; though they, to be sure, were upward in years, - as was Ax-Tell and Ajax who had been in authority in the Atlantean lands, - and gave a part of their activities. Thus these formed what might be called today the board, or governing board, or suggestive board, to those various groups or unions, - that carried not only the means or manners of preparing individuals who maintained or retained activity in this individual form of service in whatever field had been chosen, but selected them to become active individuals - from those who showed their aptness in certain forms of service; as in the diplomatic service, or in the exchange with other nations or states or groups with which there was being formed some character of relationship.
16. The entity through the experience acted in those capacities indicated; keeping active through that period for some hundred and seventy-seven years.
17. Ready for questions.
18. (Q) What was the source of the entity's knowledge that enabled him to devise these plans of protection and the successful presentation of them to others?
    (A) All knowledge, - then, now, or in the future, - is latent within self, - would man but begin to understand. The stamp, the image of the Creator is a part of the heritage of each soul. Thus all knowledge that has been is a part of the experience of the soul. The entity here, - seeing, experiencing the unfoldment in all varied groups, as in homes, taking their place as individuals and no longer as herds or groups controlled by others, but as free men, - sought that knowledge in self, by its experience of unfoldment and the aiding in the forming of plans, as they unfolded, with the others who encouraged the entity in that period of activity.
    Thus the entity was able to formulate those plans to meet the needs of the varied groups; as the policies of fire, of flood or lightning, in varied groups, were dependent - in that period - upon where and how protections were set about, as to the activities of the individual group in whatever classification. And thus came the forming of groups for that particular form of service. And as these worked, so came the unfoldment of the other forms of cooperative activity. But all free peoples, see?
19. (Q) What methods were employed then to interest and cause individuals and groups to participate in these plans of insurance protection?
    (A) It was the natural thing that each individual group sought to better themselves in their particular vocation or activity, to be able to supply in their activities that needed for the betterment of the peoples as a whole. It was activity from that angle of a self-interest, yes - but also of a national interest, or the abilities of the group to excel in whatever field of activity was chosen.
    It was not necessary to interest. While it was not compulsory, but each individual - as it unfolded - was seeking to better self, as well as the particular vocation chosen, - for it was considered in relationship with the whole effort of the government itself.
20. (Q) Consider the present development of the entity and give suggestions for the more complete attainment of directions for daily activities through meditation in the present.
    (A) In keeping in attune with the Onement; that is, the willingness of the individual entity to be used as a channel for unfoldment for its fellows in its individual service or choice of activity, as to be able to help and to meet the individual problems that arise in what is a very complex and at times a very competitive form of activity in the present.
    There was no competition, then; for each group had its own individual form of activity, and coordinated same with the whole. So in the present, - these are to be studied, as well as meditating upon the union of purpose that prompted the individual entity to begin same in that experience, as Ex-der-enemus.
21. (Q) In consideration of this entity's abilities and the forces governing his participation in the present world war, outline the best and most practical activities and channels for the development of this entity in the present time, and his relationships with others.
    (A) As to how, - consider that as He gave, "He that would be the greatest among you will be the servant of all."
    Hence in meeting the problems as may arise in the present emergencies, and those conditions that come about, - be able or willing to be in a position where, through having self commissioned by the acts of service or the preparation of same, to be of the greater service in the fields of distribution for those that would be in active service in some form of the assurance to the homes represented. This will be the channel through which the entity may be of the greater service in these present emergencies.
22. (Q) Outline additional comprehensive instructions that will enable this entity to meditate on any problem that may arise and get the solution.
    (A) As has been indicated so oft for others, as well as for this entity, - ye as an individual are made in the image of the Creator. Ye are, as an individual, remembered by Him, - which is demonstrated in thy awareness of thy ability, thy consciousness in the present of being alive and conscious of the faults and the failures of thy fellow man about you, and of thine own shortcomings in meeting or fulfilling all of thine own ideals as to the relationship an individual soul-entity should bear to the Creative Forces or God.
    Yet ye realize the possibilities, the opportunities that lie latent within. For, as was given of old, - Say not as to who will descend from heaven that ye may have a message, for Lo, it is in thine own heart. For, thy body is indeed the temple of the living God. There He - as all knowledge, all undertakings, all wisdom, all understanding - may commune with thee, if ye but give that opportunity, that force an opportunity to open thine heart, thine mind, thy understanding, to His presence.
    Ye believe, and ye know, and ye understand, that His Son, thy Brother, entered into the flesh that ye might have not only that promise of old that man has gotten so far from, but that ye might today have an advocate with the Father; that ye might know not only that thine own angel of thyself, what thou hast been, stands ever as the evidence of thy consciousness, thy awareness, thy presence in the throne of the Father, but that thy Brother, thy Representative, thy Friend, stands ever ready to intercede for thee. And, as He hath given, He stands continually at the door of thy consciousness, of thy heart. If ye will open, He will enter.
    How do ye open? By attuning, turning thy thought, thy purpose, thy desire to be at an at-onement with Him. The atonement has been offered. Thus ye have that assurance that as ye seek His face He will come and abide.
    Thus, as ye seek for any purpose, - worthy or unworthy, - these will be made known to thee, and the course thou shouldst pursue. In this, even as He:
    "NOT MY WILL, LORD, BUT THINE BE DONE IN ME, THROUGH ME, DAY BY DAY. MAY I EVER BE THE CHANNEL THAT MAY BRING TO MY FELLOW MAN THAT AWARENESS OF THY LOVE, - BY THE MANNER IN WHICH I, MYSELF, TREAT MY FELLOW MAN DAY BY DAY; KNOWING, IN MY OWN HEART AND MIND, THAT INASMUCH AS OR IN THE MANNER I TREAT MY BROTHER, HERE, I AM TREATING MY BROTHER WHO STANDS IN MY STEAD BEFORE THY THRONE."
