2537]'s ltr. to EC: "Thank you for sending me the
info. about the A.R.E. I am mailing my membership check with
this ltr.
At this time in my life, and in the world situation, one's
own constructive development seems more important than ever.
I have heard from many people of your amazing contact with
the sources of living & how you have drawn upon it to help
them. I know in the end one must work out one's own problems
but since I happen to live at the same time with a person of
your great insight, the opportunity of your help in finding
out how and why my inner forces work against each other the
way they seem to do, is something I feel the necessity of
taking advantage of.
I am constantly torn by the need of working alone and yet a
sense of guilt, that in this time it is perhaps a selfish
occupation - or can I give more by following the lines I am
now in? I shall be eager to know when you will be able to
give me the rdg.
Any information about my past lives, present, or future, and
the persons with whom I should be would be very helpful.
As I have always been torn between a number of different
mediums of expression - any clear indication about that would
be appreciated too. Is it my nature to follow several
different expressions and should I just give in to it or
should I take a decision to do just one thing and suppress
the rest? & if SO what is that one thing?"
7/09/41 Letter: "...I should like to know what connection, if
any, I have with the Greeks of the pre-Christian era which
affect my activities now.
I should also like to know what it is best for me to do this
summer. Should I go on living in the same place next year
and teach again in the school, or should I give all my time
to my own work? Am I following the line of art which is my
life work, or should I be developing in another field? Is it
wrong for me to avoid people for whom I seem to have no vital
connection?
I seem in some ways to have come to a kind of spiritual
crossroad where for some reason I do not go ahead with all
the powers at my command.
It is a privilege to be able to come to you with these
problems and I shall appreciate hearing whatever you feel
free to tell me of good or evil which may clarify the
directions I should take."
