TEXT

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we are given the record here of that entity now known as or called [2571].
3. Be mindful through the next year respecting accidents to the lower limbs.
4. In giving an interpretation of the records as we find them here, these are chosen with the desire and purpose that the entity may better fulfil that purpose for which it entered this present experience.
5. Then, it is not by chance that the entity chose to come into the environ or home into which it came in this experience; but those activities, those associations which have been, make for an awareness, a consciousness that what is needed in the experience may be found there.
6. Thus, there is brought to the entity an obligation, and to those about the entity a duty - a keeping of that necessary to assist in fulfilling that purpose.
7. Then we would magnify the virtues, minimize the faults. For, that as may have hindered may be forgotten; that as may aid needs glorification. For, good alone continues to grow, while the faults or the faulty continue to be left behind.
8. Thus in giving the interpretations of the records here, we would give not only the environmental but also the hereditary influences; not merely from the material lineage but from the mental and spiritual. For these, too, are a part of the heritage of each and every soul.
9. While there are those influences, those urges latent and manifested, know that no urge surpasses the will of the entity, - that birthright given each soul that it may know itself to be itself and by choice become one with the Creator, or magnify self in its associations in material life.
10. As to the patterns, we find it will be well for the entity to have those vibrations about same that make for the latent forces or power.
11. For, each soul, each entity IS a co-creator with the universal consciousness; making those activities for self, for others. So, as that which is material came into being, there were those vibrations, those emotions set about it. Thus in the mineral, in the vegetable kingdoms there are those responding vibrations to which each soul has given, or may give in any individual experience, power or influence through that association.
12. Yet, as given, no urge of such an influence or power surpasses the will of the entity.
13. However, if the ruby is kept close to the body, it will bring strength, power and might in a manner to the purposes set by the entity, or those choices given.
14. Astrologically we find Venus, Jupiter and Uranus as portions of the entity's environs or urges; as combined also with Saturn.
15. Hence, from the composite of material sojourns and astrological aspects, we find these as latent and manifested characteristics.
16. The entity is deep in its thought, in its purpose; though oft may be considered by others as being slow in recognition or awareness of conditions. But once attained, it becomes a part of the individual entity.
17. Thus the necessity for the purposes and ideals as set before the entity to be founded in the spiritual ideal, - whether relating to the spiritual, mental or physical phases of the entity's experience.
18. As Venus is the ruling influence in the experience, we find that the home will be, should be, the channel through which the greater abilities, the greater expression of those influences and powers may be made manifest.
19. Not that there are not abilities in music, in art, in those things pertaining to sources that make up what might be called a career life; yet these, as may be seen from material activities in other sojourns, would not be the channels in which the entity may succeed the best in this experience.
20. But making an artistic home, making a home that is the expression of beauty in ALL its phases, is the greater career of ANY individual soul. This is the closer expression of that which has been manifested in the experiences of man's advent into materiality.
21. We find in Jupiter the universal consciousness, the sincerity of the entity. For, when the entity gives expression to its feelings, one may be sure that it is the entity speaking. For, as indicated, the entity is deep, sincere. Though the entity may be called by others the plodder, it may arrive, it may attain to that peace, that understanding which comes only from true sincerity.
22. Cultivate, though, those truths as may be attained or gained through the expression of the joking side of life; though the entity cares little for the practical joke or the practical joker. Yet see not the seamy side, but truths. For, remember - even in the last hours, He made light of His suffering, and gave expression of those things that are the deeper feelings in the emotions of man in the present.
23. That, then, is a pattern to each and every soul.
24. In Uranus we find the extremes, and the interest in the occult - or the mystical. This is well, if it is balanced in the spiritual nature, - not of an ism or a cult but of the truth that is expressed in Him.
25. We find in Saturn the changes that come, - those periods in which the entity may become easily discouraged, and weep. But remember, He gave expression in such a manner; weeping with those who wept, rejoicing with those who did rejoice.
26. Minimize in the experience, then, those influences that are discouraging and disheartening; magnifying the glory of those influences that may remove such far from the feeling or comprehension of the entity.
27. In the activities as indicated astrologically, then, - the home, home economics, home study, home activities, home schools, should be those things stressed during the unfoldment periods of the awareness to which the entity may come as it gives expression. For, in the home may there be brought the greater joy, the greater blessing, the greater outlook upon life - through being and giving greater expression of the glory of the Lord in the earth.
28. As to the appearances of the entity in the earth, - we find that not all of the material sojourns may be given here. These are chosen because of their particular influence in the experience of the entity as to latent and manifested urges, the manner in which the entity thinks or reacts to the emotions in the experience.
29. For, the astrological sojourns represent the mental or dream forces; while the material earthly sojourns represent the expression through the emotions - or the reaction of same in expression, in experiences that may be had, may be sought, may be shunned by the entity.
30. Before this the entity was in the land of the present nativity.
31. In those periods of the early settlings in the land, the entity was among those who were the home builders; that brought into the experience much that had to do with the formation of ideals and principles which became - as might be said - the spirit of Virginia.
32. For, each state, each town, each city, each community is made up of the choice of groups or masses that give expression to creative influences, - whether of a social, political or economic nature. For these, too, have their influence by the manner of expression of the individual entities who make the whole.
33. The entity then had much to do with those formations of activities, because of its tensions. Yet disappointments came into the experience. For, to the entity, that as should have been a part of the home became political influence.
34. Hence the entity cares little for political forces, political influences; in fact, they become rather as irritating expressions - and keep far from same.
35. The entity then was in the name Lois Goodwill. In the experience the entity gained, lost and gained; gained with the expressions in building the home; lost in allowing disappointments to create grudges; gained when there was the glorifying of the good and the minimizing of the bad - in the experiences and associations with others.
36. Before that the entity was in the English land, during those periods when there were the Crusade activities, the gathering of forces or powers for the preservation of an idea; when many lands joined as for a purpose.
37. Those experiences brought discouragements to the entity. For, with high hopes there had been the preparations for activities in the land by associations and companionships. With the rejection of these by the companion, for an idea, those experiences were brought from which the entity finds in the present that the ideals of others may at times become irritating to the entity.
38. Thus - as the warning has been given - minimize those faults. Learn tolerance, or toleration, as ye failed to gain through that experience - because of desertion.
39. Hence the fear that is manifested at times of being able to cope with situations; which arises from the experience through that sojourn as Margat Ingals.
40. The entity gained, the entity lost; and these are those influences to be warned of in the present, - not being tolerant.
41. Be tolerant to all; not so tolerant - however - as to lose sight of thy purpose or thy principle; but little fear may be held in this respect. For the principle may become so severe as to be intolerant with others.
42. Before that the entity was in the Promised Land, during those periods when the Master walked in the earth, and in those lands where he was so active - as in Bethsaida.
43. The entity was among those children blessed by Him.
44. That experience makes for the basis of the home, the home building that is the deeper influence in the present.
45. Then the entity was known as Ruth, but of the household that later became the household of faith - with the rulers in that land.
46. Throughout the experience the entity gained. For, there has remained - there will remain (if there is kept that purpose as then) - that blessing which was given by Him, who is the way, the truth and the light. For, these fade not. For as given, good lives on.
47. USE those, study those of His blessings to children. For, thou - through thy experience in this sojourn - should bless the earth with many.
48. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land, among the Atlanteans who entered Egypt - during the periods of reconstruction.
49. The entity was among the offspring of the Atlanteans during that particular period. Hence the entity grew up under the influences of those periods of coordinating the children of the Law of One with the more material ideals and principles of the Egyptian teacher through that sojourn.
50. The entity became one of those stationed in the Temple Beautiful, representing patience.
51. That, too, ye must learn; not only as a word, not only as a principle. For, know - in patience ye become aware of thy soul - in this material sojourn.
52. So, manifest more and more that as may bring not a passive but an active patience. Learn brotherly love, in patience - even as He.
53. The name then was Esy-Edda.
54. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, that to which it may attain, and how:
55. First, know thy purpose, thy ideal - spiritually, mentally, materially. Not as to what others may give to thee, but what and how ye may live to give to others.
56. In the home and in home building may the entity find the outlet for the greater abilities in this experience.
57. Study to show thyself approved, then. Do not condemn thyself, nor others. This ye are prone to do. But learn patience.
58. Keep thyself unspotted from that as would cause questionings, even in thine own self.
59. Ready for questions.
60. (Q) Should I go to college? If so, which one would be best to prepare me for my life's work?
    (A) To be sure, college is a desire, is a purpose. As we find, the preparations should ever be for home, and home economics.
Then, that school which indicates the greater opportunity - or a course in same - would be the more preferable.
61. (Q) What studies should I take up?
    (A) Home economics.
62. (Q) For what purpose did I come to my present parents?
    (A) That ye might gain from their experience and ye be a helpmeet to them in their problems. Hence ye will never be a problem; for it is rather the opportunity to them, to thee.
63. (Q) How have I been associated in the past with the following members of my family, and how may I be of the most help to them in the present: My mother, [2570]?
    (A) In the experience before this close friendships, though at times grudges arose because of differences in purposes during the period.
In Palestine, closely associated - as there were associations in the same household.
In Egypt - aware of, and friendships, but not the closer association there.
64. (Q) My father, [2489]?
    (A) Known especially through the Palestine sojourn; aware of in others, but the closer association and attraction in the present is from the Palestine experience.
Then, to be aware that the promptings through the associations with the Way may be the most encouragement in the present. Never lose sight of same.
65. (Q) My sister, [2572]?
    (A) This may best be given by paralleling, as will be seen in the experiences of each.
But in the one before this, and through the experiences in the English land, as well as in the Palestine land.
66. (Q) To what colors do I vibrate best?
    (A) That of blue and mauve.
Stones, - the ruby; this should be worn by the entity always.
67. (Q) What specific activities should I be mindful of, and what specific precautions should I take, to avoid accidents?
    (A) With automobiles.
68. We are through for the present.

2. 8/10/41 Note by GD: "[2571] remarked after the reading, 'But I don't like home economics!' Her mother seemed to think it fitted her - the home she liked - it was just the mechanics of the study that didn't appeal to her. Said she had always liked mauve.
"In the afternoon, when sister [2572]'s reading was given, [2571] said at the end, 'That sure is true!' (Always easier to see someone else's characteristics than your own.)
"[2571] had studied music - piano - and thought perhaps music should be her work."
3. 10/21/41 See 2571-2, a Physical Reading.
4. 6/15/49 Letter indicated as a result of the reading she did go into the field of Home Economics and chose Dietetics as her profession.
5. 3/27/74 She requested (now married) a copy of her readings, saying: "My copies have been lost and I would really like to read them, now that I am older."

"My father, [2489] died almost 20 years ago. My mother, [2570] is fine and both my sister, [2572] and I now live in the ... area - (both married). I have 5 children - ages 6-15. My time is pretty well filled - as you can imagine. She, my sister [2572] has 3 (twins).
"My memory of Mr. Cayce is that of a truly fine Christian man. I'm sure part of my impression comes from THERE IS A RIVER. I surely don't really understand these things, but it was interesting to read the readings again."
   Sincerely, [2571]
"P.S. (Unasked for opinion) - I would like to say, I do NOT believe the book EDGAR CAYCE SPEAKS was a good book for the 'general public'. Each item refers to a specific person, not for just anyone - anytime. It confuses."
