8/22/41 Wife [
349]'s letter: "I appreciate the rdgs. [
349-23
and 2573-1]. Thanks a million.
"[
2573] is peculiar. Wish I could talk to you about it.
What does it mean about the hidden money? We realize, too,
that political pull is not enough. [
2573] has always turned
down the idea when presented to him, as he is a good, hard
worker... [
2573] makes so darn little money now. I don't
like to complain. I'm grateful for what I have, but it
limits one in doing the things he'd like to do.
"I appreciate what you do for me. You know that."
8/26/41 EC's letter: "Few if any Life Rdgs. have ever
suggested such things - will be interesting to see it work
out. Hope if he has the opportunity to get in on a buried
treasure he will take the chance, for am sure it can and may
work out to a very fine thing."
2/12/42 Wife [
349]'s letter: "I suppose ultimately the P.O.
will pay better salaries but the 2 yrs. he has been there
have been hellish."
8/02/67 Wife's letter: "Our son [
2498] is now 26 and [...]
is 23. [
2498] is in the theatrical agency business and [...]
is at the Univ. of Chicago working towards a Master's degree
in International Relations and Economics. [
2573] and I are
going along, trying to keep on an even keel and keep things
going, financially and otherwise, but if we keep our health,
that is the most important."
