This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of August, 1941, in accordance with request made by the self through mother, Mrs. [2990], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended through Mrs. Wm. Kurtz, neighbor of Mrs. [2130].

Present: Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mr. [2575] and Mrs. [2990], and others.

TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2575].
3. As we find, there are specific disturbances preventing the better physical functioning of the body.
4. These arise from subluxations, or injuries which were received at some time back. And the pressures upon the nervous system, through those activities between the sympathetic and cerebrospinal nervous system, deflect the energies of certain organs. Thus the sensory system is affected, as well as the general assimilating and eliminating system.
5. Then, these are the conditions as we find them with this body, [2575] we are speaking of, present in this room:
6. First, in the blood supply - we find that through the deflection of activities there has been produced in the body those tendencies for an inflammatory condition in the activity of the kidneys.
7. These bring about excesses of uric acid in the system. Hence these pressures, and their activities through the organs themselves, as well as in the assimilations, bring to the sensory forces a deflection to the eyes, the ears, and to all the organs of the sensory system.
8. Consequently, there is a variation in the manner in which the activities of the blood to portions of the body supply sufficient of the energies for the removal of the poisons that should be eliminated from the body.
9. In the nervous system, - here we find the source or basis of the disturbing influences, as has been indicated.
10. For, in the 9th and 10th dorsal we find a subluxation that deflects the activity to the pancreas, as well as causing an overstimulation to the kidney activity; thus producing at times the formation of inflammation. Or at times even pus arises there.
11. This is attempting to be eliminated from the system, and the accumulations that arise from this cause or bring about the greater disturbances to the body.
12. As to the activities of the organs themselves, - all of those activities to the brain forces as related to the organs' functioning under the nervous system become affected at times; that is, the sensory forces; as do naturally the lungs and the digestive system. For, poisons through the body from these accumulations bring about these distresses.
13. And unless there are measures taken to relieve same, these will require operative measures for the removal. But if taken in time, and following the line of activity that may bring about the reduction of the disturbance, we may relieve the conditions and bring about normalcy; owing to the response the body should make to those things as would be indicated for the removal of the disturbances.
14. Then, in making corrective measures for these activities:
15. First we would begin with a GENTLE but specific osteopathic correction of those subluxations that exist in the cerebrospinal areas indicated.
16. After at least the fourth or fifth adjustment, when there is better alignment, begin with the LOW form of electrical vibration, that will supply more heat to the body - or the lower form of the Diathermy treatment.
17. We would make osteopathic corrections in the lower dorsal and coordinate the upper dorsal and cervical, for the removal of the pressures in the areas about the central forces that supply to the auditory nerves, to the eyes, to the nose, and to all the sensory forces of the body.
18. Through the periods of the osteopathic corrective measures, have at least two evacuations of the colon by high colonic irrigations.
19. Give the osteopathic adjustments twice each week for at least eight to ten adjustments in the first series.
20. When the electrical treatments are begun, these would be once each week. Make the applications to form the activities of the kidneys. These will be done by the same one who makes the osteopathic corrections, you see.
21. Keep the eliminations above normal, throughout the period of the treatments.
22. Begin also at first the taking of small quantities of Sweet Spirits of Nitre; about three to five drops in water three times each week, regularly; not every day, but every other day this may be taken.
23. As to the diet:
24. Keep away from sweets of all kinds.
25. Do not combine too much of starches of various natures at one meal; that is, such as corn and potatoes, or spaghetti and potatoes at the same meal.
26. Fish and fowl would be the meats, but no fried foods.
27. Have plenty of vegetables, and especially fruit juices. These should be the greater part of the diet.
28. Do these, if we would bring the bettered conditions for this body.
29. Ready for questions.
30. (Q) Any other specific treatments for the eyes?
    (A) If we remove the cause - which comes from the conditions in the kidneys - we find there will be bettered conditions for the eyes. Of course, the treatments to the sensory system - osteopathically - are for the optic connections with the general nervous system. This is a condition produced by a subluxation in the cerebrospinal system.
31. (Q) Is there any growth of any kind back of the eye?
    (A) As we have indicated, this is NOT a condition of the eye! The EFFECT is there! But the growth is more on the kidneys!
32. (Q) Any indication of having had meningitis?
    (A) Very close to it. But this is more from an injury that has been in the 9th and 10th dorsal area.
    Do these things outlined if we would bring the better condition for this body.

BACKGROUND

1. Background questions preceding 2575-1:
   1. What is causing my eye trouble? 2. What can I do to correct this trouble? 3. Is there anything which I could do which might improve my general physical condition? 4. What caused this trouble? 5. What causes eyes and head to ache? 6. Has this a connection with the bloodshot eyes?

REPORTS

1. Remarks after 2575-1 - feel it is correct. Have had severe headaches back of eyes for two or three years, can't study. Just before that had a condition which doctors thought was meningitis. Have been taking chiropractic treatments from a Dr. Williamson. Nobody seems to know what is the source of the headaches - some thought it might be a growth back of the eyes. [Mrs. [2990] said Dr. Carson - who used to be with Dr. Tucker in the osteopathic sanatorium - delivered her older son when he was born.]
2. 4/19/43 Mother [2990]'s report: "Went to Dr. Hudgins and then to Dr. Tucker in Raleigh for a few treatments, but felt nothing was being accomplished so stopped. Wants to get in Army, but is afraid he can't stand the life; wants to get in shape."
3. His mother said after reading TIR he wanted to get a Ck. Rdg. and make a fresh start with the treatments.
