New York, N.Y.
Dear Mr. Cayce,
Since you have been kind enough to devote time to my
problems, you should know in what manner I tried to
cooperate.
First I cleaned the room in which I sat, then I bathed and
put on fresh white clothes and read the Bible for about
twenty minutes and on the half hour began to pray for you and
to THE WILL to make itself clear. Most of it was thanking
you and the Great Power which moved you. My heart thumped
quite a bit, I do not know why - I put all of me that I could
into the ritual.
In the afternoon I again bathed and wore the white clothes,
read the Bible and prayed but this is what worries me - I
fell asleep. It may have been for twenty minutes when I was
startled awake by the phone, continued with my prayers as tho
there had been no interruption. My heart thumped this time
also but not quite so hard - though noticeably.
I am terribly ashamed of this and perhaps you may think of
what happened in the GARDEN when the disciples fell asleep as
I did.
It is not a reason but an excuse I offer in saying that I
slept for about an hour or a little more last night. This
does not seem right to me but you certainly should know it
was my fault if anything went wrong in way of vision.
Otherwise I am confident that every thing for me will be made
clear. Do not bother to answer this letter unless there is
some more I should now do. Your record I await with deep
interest but strange to say with no impatience as "before I
have called ye have answered."
Perhaps doing as I did in preparation is not needful but I
look upon this as a sacred thing and it is the patient's
place to recognize that fact.
In a week or two, will write you again and keep you posted as
to the way the memory and stage work progress.
It is for your sake that I use the machine as it would take
up more time for you to read my script.
This is a happy and DIFFERENT day for me. Yours with thanks
I remain,
Yours most sincerely, [

Dear Miss [
2598]:-
Thank you for yours of the 7th - hope by now you have one or
both your readings, and that you find them not only real
interesting but really most helpful. Am quite interested in
your preparation for the meditation. Have always, ever since
have made this work my real life's work, wanted to do just
that, bathe, redress - not an ornate robe, but special loose
suit for the reading. Have felt it is as little as can do to
appear before My lord with a clean body when I pray - and
each reading to me is a Prayer to HIM to help my fellow man,
but only since Sept. 1st this year have been able to do that
- but the last year the members of the Ass'n have builded us
an office-Library - and Safety place for records, and the
reading room, which has the shower for me. I feel better, I
know, and just hope it doesn't appear as a routine or form to
others - so thank you for telling me about yourself, you know
how I appreciate your feelings in the matter.
Just hope you find help - health - and really spiritual help
in the information.
Will be away for day or so now - my wife and I go to N.C.
tomorrow to see our oldest son married. He marries Friday at
Noon.
Thanking you and hoping to hear from you when you have
studied over the information - and, can we help, please don't
hesitate to ask
Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce

Dear Mr. Cayce,
I can not let you come to N.Y. without first writing to tell
you of my improvement.
My retention of ideas seems to be improving. To test my
memory through my [?] lessons - I find that I explain,
describe, and talk [illegible handwriting]...
Thanks to you as a channel for Divine Guidance & to all
splendid care at Mr. Reilly's. It is alas sad that Dr. [...]
whose class I hold, should have passed on. I can't say
honestly that I very much enjoy leading. Your reading said I
would write and speak. Perhaps, even now it is not too late
to expect stage action. I read John & have thought on what I
read oftener than I actually read it.
Oh by the way, I did not understand the question mark after
Barbara Frietchie nor her "untimely end" as she lived till 96
years old. It is delightful to know you are coming... I
take the pills & eat cereal & banana as you told me though
it is not [?]... for me to eat any of these.
I do not know whether you make any exceptions in price & I am
NOT asking it, only if you do, know of a woman whom I believe
would ask of you. There are two sisters, they barely get
along especially now with increased prices. The one who is
sick astonished me by saying she would like to read [?] from
you. Please do not think this is a hint - I NEVER hint. I
ask when I want something. She has no faintest idea that I
am writing you.
As I move along to higher realms consciousness & health, I
shall keep you posted.
I am so glad you & Mrs. Cayce had a real pleasant
trip... [illegible handwriting] ...to have "been made in
heaven."
Thank you again, [

2598]'s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
Your letter reached me this morning and I wish to answer it
before I leave the house.
You most certainly have had my prayers before this an I shall
continue them for you.
I cannot promise them for such and such an hour because my
hours are erratic. Do I not know that your healing is from
Above - inspired and accomplished by Divine Love!
I have intended writing to you for some time to tell you that
it was not a matter of inconvenience which prevented a second
visit to you in Rye, but absence. That hour was a lovely
one. My health is so much improved but I still go to Reilly
not taking your prescribed treatment any longer but one to
keep me fit for the task ahead. Funny should have sent me
the letter concerning activities for I was about to write you
soon to ask about them. I am an Air Raid Warden and am very
busy. Under man's law there is nothing to do but fight and I
feel my share in it is that of healing and protection. This
is not an unselfish view to take though at first glimpse it
may appear so I should be happier (If I am to be taken) to go
"saving" than while trying to protect myself. I know the
human of me may be very much frightened at times but "God is
my Strength and my salvation" and within me there is always
that sense of intimate contact with Him. I talk with Him -
as though He were a person beside me a hundred times a day,
at least very constantly, say 'Thank you God', His for
finding something mislaid, or for the fact that He is my
friend or just to thank Him for what is. It is a wonderful
thing to KNOW that we were close I hope that I do not talk
too much about it Praters [?] are so apt to be bores and
also to DO VERY LITTLE.
I have taken the police course and on New Year's Eve I
patrolled from
12-2 A.M. I go to meetings and try to think
up measures for the senior wardens to adopt. Tomorrow I
begin a course in First aid - taking all this as seriously as
I do I feel most earnest the need of help from the Unseen
through you and myself and all those who BELIEVE I offered
nothing but knew that when the time arrived I should have the
way made clear. The first call came from Air Wardens so I
accepted. It is a ceaseless wonder to me to find so much
selfishness and indifference. As I patrolled one night I
heard a man sneer at my arm band (A.R.W.) I bought a
beautiful card for you for Christmas but some how I sent it
to some one else. Know at least that you were much in my
thoughts at that time. Thank you for yours. I am glad that
I have no bonds for defense. If the law compels me then of
course I shall have choice but I can't willingly invest in
the scourage (?) of death for my gain. I love my country
dearly. This is something I thank God for very often - being
an American. This work of mine at present is that to which I
am called and with God's help I shall carry on to the best of
my ability. In this I know that I have your approbation. I
hope that I may live to His service at this terrible time.
I am still looking forward to seeing my dear friends - the
little people - you have no idea how I feel for them in the
way mortals are treating them. The Salamanders, the Sylphs,
the Gnomes, the Undines are made utterly miserable and I
wonder how many send thoughts their way. You do, of course.
You may be glad to know that in my heart there is no hate for
ANY one.
If and when you have time to let me hear from you I shall be
most happy but I know that you are just as busy - probably
more so than I -
With gratitude, yours [
