TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2611].
3. As we find, there are conditions that prevent the better physical functioning of the body. These in their incipiency or beginning have to do with specific deflections that exist; but the reflexes or the results being produced in the body may become as specific - but very much different in their reaction upon the body.
4. These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body, [2611] we are speaking of, present in this room:
5. First, - the blood supply shows deficiencies in the chemical reactions, which is indicated also in the circulation through the organs of the body.
6. Hence the conditions that indicate the lack of calcium in the body, as indicated by the manner of activity of the thyroid glands.
7. Hence that condition at times felt as of a fullness in the throat, as also indicated by the inability of the body - especially of mornings - to draw a deep breath without the feeling of a heaviness or pain in the lower portion of the chest.
8. That also is indicated at times by the body's inability to eat as much as desired, though feeling hungry, without feeling too full in the pit of the stomach.
9. These are indications and are effects being produced in the body.
10. The first causes are in the nerve system, as indicated by a subluxation that exists in the area of the 3rd and 4th and 5th dorsal. From this deflection, and combined with the after effects of a deep cold - like flu - a lesion has formed in the area.
11. This is the source, as combined with the deflections produced in lungs, or in what is primarily the pleura area. And this is the cause of the contraction in lungs, that adds to the condition which produces the headaches - through the eyes, through those portions of the head as in the temple, at other times through the frontal portion to the base of the head itself.
12. These conditions combine, then, to produce a form of condition in the blood that is of the nature as of lack of sufficient red blood cells.
13. Hence the inability of the body to put on weight, or for the proper eliminations.
14. These are deflecting, now, through the circulation, because of the inactivity of the glandular forces and the digestive forces; causing the lack of storing of energies in the body.
15. These as we find are the conditions to be met with this body, [2611] we are speaking of, present in this room.
16. In making corrections, - each of the treatments or applications suggested here has its part in making for changes as would bring near to normal forces with this body. Hence we would do EACH of these, in the manner - and when indicated.
17. First:
18. Begin with CALCIOS taken internally, every other day; the quantity that would be spread on a whole wheat cracker. This is the better and the easier way for the body to assimilate calcium, for the activity of the glands - especially thyroid, and to add those properties sufficient that are being depleted now by the poor circulation, so as to build bone, teeth, fingernails and the like. All of these appear now in the forms as being brittle, or easily broken. The Calcios will aid in this direction.
19. Also each evening, when the evening meal is being taken (and eat the meal!), take half a teaspoonful of ACIGEST stirred in a glass of raw milk. Do not attempt to take this in pasteurized milk, or other than raw milk, for it would be harmful - more harmful than beneficial if thus taken.
20. DO have a preparation to be inhaled two to three times each day, through the nostrils and the throat. Put this in a six to eight ounce container, preferably having a large mouth with two vents in the cork but not extending into the solution. Prepare the solution in this manner.
21. To 4 ounces Pure Grain Alcohol, add - in the order named:

    Oil of Eucalyptus.................30 minims,
Rectified Oil of Turp..............5 minims,
Compound Tincture of Benzoin......20 minims,
Tolu in Solution..................15 minims.

22. Keep the vents in the cork tightly closed when not in use. Shake the solution, remove the vents, and inhale deep into the lungs the fumes, - not taking any of the solution, you see, but merely inhaling the fumes that are aroused from the shaking of the ingredients. This will act as an aid to the purification of the congestions through the lungs, clearing the throat and the congestion that arises in the nasal passages. This also, with the other properties, will keep down headaches.
23. When four doses of the Calcios have been taken (and these are taken every other day, as indicated), begin then - not before - with osteopathic adjustments for those subluxations that exist especially in the dorsal area, as indicated. Coordinate the 9th dorsal with the corrections make in the cervical AND the 3rd and 4th dorsal area. Coordinate the lumbar and sacral about every other treatment.
24. Have these about twice each week, and have at least ten to fifteen such adjustments.
25. Then, as to the diet be very careful.
26. Do not take hog meats of ANY kind, save at times a little crisp breakfast bacon.
27. Have plenty of citrus fruit juices, also both cooked and dry cereals - but do not take the citrus fruits AND cereals at the same meal. Alternate these; have the fruits one day and the cereals the next, and so on.
28. DO have plenty of fresh vegetables, raw - as at least a part of one meal each day; especially celery and lettuce, tomatoes and such, either with or without dressing, whichever suits the taste better - or alternated with mayonnaise and oil dressing.
29. At least twice each day take a small dose of Olive Oil; not so much that it causes belching. If it does, reduce the dose but continue to take same.
30. The meats in the diet should be principally fish and fowl, rather than beef or other meats. Lamb may be taken occasionally.
31. Do not eat much fried foods.
32. Potatoes and spaghetti should not be taken at the same meal, and when taken should be rather in moderation.
33. When there is pain through the chest, or severe headaches, apply HEAT to the area between the shoulders and back of the lungs - preferably heavy salt, heated and applied in a bag. Massage the area between the shoulders and part of lungs with Peanut Oil, and then apply the heat. The salt bag may be applied and then an electric pad to hold the heat - but put the salt bag directly to the skin, you see, so that there will be the penetrating heat from same. This will reduce and relieve headaches.
34. When these are done consistently, we would find near normal forces.
35. Do these, then, and we should bring better conditions for this body.
36. Ready for questions.
37. (Q) Who would be suggested for the osteopathic treatments?
    (A) Hudgins - or Richardson.
38. (Q) Should I keep my present job with the Government?
    (A) The body will feel much better when these things are carried out as indicated, and there ARE outlets in this job for advancement.
39. (Q) The tired, weak feeling?
    (A) This is the exhaustion that arises from the lack of sufficient vitality, being now destroyed by the weakness in the blood and the tendencies for adherence in the pleura about the lungs.
40. (Q) What is causing my teeth to decay?
    (A) Lack of sufficient quantity of calcium in the body.
Do these things and we will bring better conditions for this body.
41. We are through for the present.

BACKGROUND

1. Questions submitted which were answered without being asked: What causes my headaches? What can I do to stop this tired, weak feeling? What is the soreness in my chest?

REPORTS

1. Remarks immediately after the reading:
"[...] been to Johns-Hopkins, took out piece of bone in nose - still headaches no better. Went to Dr. Hudgins [F. Curtis Hudgins, D.O.] who treated me and said he couldn't do me any good. This pain in the chest that the reading spoke of, especially of morning, is terrific. Everything is just like the reading said. I will follow directions..."
2. 3/11/42 Report by [2611]'s mother: "...I'm calling to ask for a check reading for [2611]. He has been greatly improved, the first relief he has gotten at all, but lately he has seemed to be going back a little and we wanted to arrange for him to get a reading so as not to lose any ground. He's been kidded a good bit about being so strict in following the reading, especially by his brother-in-law, [...], and by his aunt, [...]. That doesn't phase him, however; he knows he has been relieved some through following the reading and is going to continue..."
3. 4/15/42 Appetite improved after the first two weeks of treatment, also the headaches have been farther apart and don't last as long. However, had another spell about two weeks ago, which lasted about 30 minutes to an hour. Knows he is better, but wants to be sure to get at the seat of the cause.
"...I went to Dr. Hudgins for the other treatments, since he had treated me before and said I was the first headache he couldn't get at. I took 14 treatments from him, with him trying to follow the reading; then he had to leave - with the Navy..."
