(Q) Any special application for the feet to reduce swelling?
(A) As indicated, the oils - in the massage for the body and
the limbs, the feet are, of course, to be included. The
Peanut Oil is that so easily absorbed; massage not hard, but
gently, and this will be absorbed, and as there is the
stimulation to the circulation along the spine, it will aid
in eliminating these disturbances.
Of course, as the eliminations are better set up in the
system through these applications, it is well that colonic
irrigations be given so as to eradicate the poisons through
the alimentary canal. These should be kept regularly; not,
of course, as to cause greater distress, but regularly and
consistently. The water for such irrigations should be not
warmer nor colder than body-temperature. Use an antiseptic.
The better antiseptic for the water for the first flushing of
the system - through the irrigation, you see - would be a
heaping teaspoonful of table salt and a level teaspoonful of
baking soda to the quart and a half of water injected. Then
in the last water, put a tablespoonful of Glyco-Thymoline to
the quart and a half of water. Use only a Fountain Syringe
for such. These will aid and strengthen, and not be a drain
on the body.
Do as we have indicated, all or none. Do keep that attitude
of prayer, of praise, of thanksgiving, in and about the body
at all times.
We are through for the present.

BACKGROUND
Condition began with nerve exhaustion seven years ago; now
completely helpless, has to be moved and waited on entirely
by someone else.
REPORTS
8/26/42 Sister's ltr. to EC:
"The Sunday after the Thanksgiving holiday of 1941, you gave
a reading to my sister, [
2619], at the home of a friend in
New Rochelle. At this reading you suggested a course of
treatment which, at the time I was not in a position to
undertake; your advice being, 'all or nothing.' I have since
found the right party, one who is in sympathy with your work
and very capable and anxious to assume the responsibility of
seeing it through.
"However, it seems somehow I have mislaid your instructions
and will have to beg to look back over your files and be so
kind as to send me another copy of same. I will be greatly
indebted to you for your trouble if you will do me this great
kindness.
"Thanking you again and hoping to hear from you favorably
soon..."
10/21/42 Sister's letter to EC:
"In having the formula containing the quarter ounce of oil of
mustard, cedar wood, pine needles and sassafras roots which
you suggested for my sister, Mrs. [
2619], the pharmacist
wanted to know what kind of mustard was meant. He says there
are two kinds of oil of mustard, distilled or ethereal, and
expressed, a quarter of an ounce of ethereal oil of mustard,
he says, is much too strong and the distilled not strong
enough. He suggested that we use only one-half the amount
of the ethereal prescribed in the formula. Hence I am
writing to clear the matter up, and kindly advise me. Hoping
to hear from you and thanking you for your trouble..."
10/26/42 EC's letter to [
2619]'s sister:
"I have yours of the 21st. In the formula, for your sister,
use the distilled. That is plenty strong for what it is
supposed to do. I'm sorry this has caused some delay, but do
hope Mrs. [
2619] will be on the improve soon..."
12/31/42 Sister's letter to EC:
"Mrs. [
2619] has been getting the Wet Cell treatment since
December 13th, and it will soon be time to renew the contents
of the earthenware crock. May I trouble you to advise me
where to purchase the copper sulphate and other ingredients?
Would a drugstore or electrical shop have them for sale?
"Also, can you suggest what can be used to replace the beef
broth? [Beef Juice, prescribed in reading] It is very
difficult at times to get the beef. Thanking you for your
help and with best wishes for the New Year...."
1/05/43 EC's letter to [
2619]'s sister:
"I have yours of the 31st. I believe the surest place to get
the recharge for the Appliance would be from Marsden Godfrey,
2709 Lafayette Blvd., Norfolk, Va. While you would get some
of the things from the drugstore, you're not apt to get the
zinc there, and that is necessary; while the acid, you will
have to purchase from your local drugstore. But I would
think it best to get the rest from Mr. Godfrey.
"I do not know of anything that will take the place of the
Beef Juice. The nearest thing is the tonic, beef, iron and
wine, but that is not near so good in this particular case,
else would have been given. Hope she is on the improve..."
1/24/43 Sister's letter to EC:
"In accordance with your instructions Saturday afternoon, I
am submitting the following questions for my sister, [
2619],
which you will kindly include in your reading:
1. Does condition show that patient is being overfed?
2. Assimilation is very poor. Can you suggest foods or
treatment that would aid assimilation?
3. Hot flashes as frequent as ever - how can they be
reduced?
4. I work and can't give the Wet Cell treatment until late
afternoon. Does that make any difference?
5. Does patient get enough protein food?
6. Does her present environment interfere with or retard her
progress?
7. Is her condition insufficient consumption of water?
8. Would residence in Virginia Beach be of benefit to her?
9. Does she show a positive attitude?
10. Patient is at the home of Mrs. [R...], who is taking
care of her. I see her every day for two reasons: to help
Mrs. [R...] and to cheer her up. Would my seeing her less
often make her more self-reliant?
11. What is extent of injury to brain cells?
12. What part of the brain is affected?
13. Can you suggest an exercise or treatment that would
loosen the knee joints so that they could be straightened?
14. Are there any signs of improvement?
15. Patient's head droops forward, so that chin hangs down
on chest. Is there a treatment for that or would strapping
chin be possible so as to lift it up?
16. Is this illness karmic?
17. If so, can it be overcome?
18. Would you advise a home for incurables?
"This is a long and exhaustive appeal, but please, Mr. Cayce,
have patience with me, as it comes from one who is trying
desperately to help a helpless sister..."
1/28/43 EC wrote the sister thanking her for bringing
Mrs. [
2619] in to see him while he was in N.Y.; he hoped the
exertion had not been too much for her.
4/03/43 Sister's letter:
"She complains about her eyes, particularly her right one,
doesn't see well. She finds chewing very difficult. Her
teeth are in bad condition. Since you saw her last, I was
persuaded to have Dr. A. Fox see her. He's a neurologist, a
naturopath, and uses hypnotic suggestions on his patients.
He suggested that she be grounded, and so we got a storage
battery and had one tin attached to head and another to her
feet. We use these several hours a day. So far, I haven't
seen any results.
"Mrs. [R...] thinks that the mustard oil combination that was
used to massage the back may have caused the eye trouble, as
it was very strong and burned her [Mrs. [R...]'s] eyes, when
she applied it on my sister's back. She has stopped using
the oil..."
4/14/43 Sister submitted [
2619]'s questions:
1. Is the place where I am now residing hindering my
recovery?
2. Would you advise having my teeth treated now?
3. What causes eyes to be blurred - which has occurred since
starting the treatment suggested in first reading?
4. How is my condition generally, in comparison to that when
first reading was given?
5. Should I force myself to walk and do things with my hands?
6. Should present treatment be continued, or what changes
are advised?
4/30/43 See
2619-2.
