Mrs. [

New York City
Dear Mrs. [
2708]
I haven't answered yours yet of recent date, when you so
kindly and so generously wrote me. I don't know WHAT would
happen if we didn't have friends who thought of us in ways
other than what we could do for them - and that seems a
mighty peculiar thing to say, when I had asked you as I
had about this other - and I want to thank you here for
your letter of the 14th. I appreciate what you offer to
do, and have done, more than I know how to tell you. I am
sure you must have felt that was a little bit out of place,
for me to write you as I did - and possibly in so unexpected
a way and manner, and such little explanation of what it was
all about; but I have been so anxious to at some time begin
to make some sort of preparations for a little bit of this
world's goods for my own loved ones. I have tried to give
myself in the best way I could for my fellow man, honestly,
sincerely, trying to be of help. That I haven't been thought
of for my own personal benefits, or haven't thought of myself
in that way and manner, possibly is as much my own fault as
it is of others - possibly the good Lord has known that I
didn't know what to do with this world's goods if I had it;
consequently hasn't seen fit as yet that I should have very
much of same. However, the day that I wrote you, it seemed
such a wonderful opportunity that was offered just at that
time. There's a tract of land - five lots - a little bit
more improved than the land bought by the Association at
first - for it is a through street, paved to the ocean -
five lots of 50 by 150, all in one body, or 150 by 250 -
that is offered for the $3,000. I knew as soon as it was
announced that the university was going to be built adjoining
it, that the property would begin to advance - and it already
has, as the announcement was made last Sunday. I am in hopes
that I'll be able, with this, to hold it for the time being
- until I will be able to make some sort of arrangements.
I feel that if I had this, I could arrange sometime very
soon to get a house built on it. Then, its closeness to
the university and hospital would not only enhance the value
of the association property, but would offer very valuable
property for the development or to build a little home on
to rent to some of those who would come in; for the housing
proposition is going to be one who that will have to be
considered when things get started, and unless one gets
in at first, not much can be done - and in my over enthusiasm
over it I wrote you. I hope you understand me, and know that
I wasn't trying to take advantage of the beautiful and lovely
friendship - for we DO appreciate you, we do love you for the
kindness and consideration and thoughtfulness that you have
shown us, and I can only say - I thank you and appreciate
you.
I am glad to say my father is feeling considerably better.
He did not allow me to leave him for several days. I have
been wondering just how you knew and felt just what was going
to happen, that has been the trouble - but he is steadying
up, no temperature - his pulse has been rather regular, his
heart is doing nicely for the condition.
All send our best love.
Sincerely, [EC:GD]

2708]'s ltr. to EC:
My dear -
How I wish I could "drop in" [See
2708-3] on you all tonight,
as I feel the need of my Cayces.
In my reading of March fourth the forces said I was to meet
"the man" at Virginia Beach and as I am most anxious to
follow instructions may I ask for a reading? Then my
affairs seem so tangled and my efforts to make something
in the market failed me and has caused another loss. I'm
not eager for this money for my self, but to help those who
need help - so that when they ask for assistance I'll be in
a position to give it.
I wish you'd ask the forces - What time should I be at
Virginia Beach in order to meet the man born March 9 -
and any other questions that you all feel will be helpful.
I hope - Father Cayce - is greatly improved - and all anxiety
removed.
I see you so often - and you come so close to me at times it
seems I touch your hand - Such strong vibrations - Keep your
cheek close to mine, as I need it - so much - I'm depending
upon you.
In all affection, [

Reports:
"...I have reviewed 2708-2 and find that I cannot make any
helpful comments. Most of the reading deals with rather
specific situations of forty-six years ago of which I have
no knowledge.
"The Business readings 2708-2 through
2708-6 were commented
on in the readings and [had] attached correspondence. I have
nothing to add..."
