This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of June, 1942, in accordance with request made by the self - Dr. [2772], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [257] and Mrs. [903].

Present: Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Dr. [2772] and Mrs. [2771]. Born May 12, 1905, in Jersey City, N.J.

TEXT

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: (In going back over years from the present - " - '39 - a period of anxiety - '37 - '29 - some change - '27 - '20 - determination manifested - '18 - " etc., on back to birth date.)
3. Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [2772].
4. In giving the interpretations of the records as we find, these we choose with the desire and purpose that this may be a helpful influence for the entity; enabling it, the entity, to better fulfil the purposes for which it chose an entrance in the earth plane at this time.
5. It is not by chance that an entity enters materialization, or material manifestation, at some particular period. For there is work to do for all; and that work is to be the living manifestation of the concept of each entity in the material plane of that which is its ideal.
6. Thus, as this entity has entered into the material activities through these periods of changes being wrought in thought and concept of man's relationship to man throughout the world, this entity may - from that given here - better find that part he is to play in same. Not that there is to be some great deed, or some fostering of a great movement. For, as He hath given, it is ever line upon line, precept upon precept; here a little, there a little, that man may make for that unfoldment which brings into the experience of self - as well as the fellow man - the relationships he bears to that Creative Force we call God.
7. In interpreting the records of this entity, - here we find there is indicated what might be said to be a composite or a summing up of the urges from material sojourns and the astrological, - or the consciousness applied in the earth that has been regulated by those interims between the physical sojourns in the earth. Hence we find some definite characteristics that are in manifestation:
8. One, then, quite positive in its convictions. While it may listen to others, the entity usually decides as to what it believes before the argument or talk has been half over, if not before such is begun.
9. Also we find indicated that the purifying of mind, of body, by the associations with the great outdoors, is helpful. Thus the entity is a nature lover, a nature student; that innately and manifestedly very different from what would be indicated in the experiences of some.
10. One that finds the study of detail oft necessary for the convincing of self upon any point or subject in which it may find an interest. And that which interests the entity outside of his own associations or affiliations, he undertakes to become acquainted with; whether he ever speaks of same again or not.
11. Astrologically, we find these aspects latent and manifested in the experience of this entity:
12. Mercury, - the high mental forces.
13. Neptune, - things that have to do with water; interests in things IN water, things that come from over water. And investments made in things that ply in water may be very good for the entity. And consider same when interesting self in things of that nature.
14. Venus, - we find the love of consistency, the love of those things that make for the unifying of activities.
15. Jupiter, - while the universal consciousness is a part of the entity's experience, it is personal application of same to the entity. This brings that phase of the combination as indicated in the universal urges from the astrological aspects, as well as material sojourns.
16. As to the applications arising from the material sojourns, these we find give expression through the senses, - as commonly termed, - or as one thinks or acts or has the physical urge towards anything in the present. The astrological or spiritual urges are latent, or as active forces through the dreams and visions and hopes and fears, - that also are applied or made aware through the senses.
17. Thus all of the appearances of the entity in the earth may not be indicated, but those that have the direct bearing upon conditions that are latent and should be manifested in the present, of course, are a part of the whole.
18. For, life is God, or eternity, and thus is a continuous thing. Various consciousnesses in various spheres of activity are only as a part of the experience, as the mind is the controlling and the building force in the physical being. For, Mind is the Builder. That which is of the spirit is that which is proposed, while that in the physical is as the result of material application.
19. And here (in the physical) the body should take care the more towards those things and tendencies in the physical that have to do with the heart, the liver and kidney circulation, and beware of those tendencies towards too much sugar in the body-forces. [See 2772-1, Par. R1.]
20. These may be tempered by the chemical forces as combined in the Jerusalem artichoke; not as an extract but the use of the vegetable itself. Don't neglect this!
21. As to urges arising from the material sojourns, then:
22. Before this the entity was in the land of the present nativity, and in those periods when there were those changes being wrought by those activities as related to change from the Dutch and the English and the Danish land (to which the entity's foreparents came).
23. There the entity was engaged in those activities having to do with water, and activities over the water, when the islands and bays about portions of Jersey, and what is now the Manhattan island, were the areas around which the entity's youth was spent.
24. The entity's connections were with that having to do with making it practical or possible for individuals or groups to go from one to the other. Thus it might be said that the first setting up of this as a commercial activity was due to the associates of the entity.
25. Then the name was Fletcher Dernheim. In the experience the entity gained in material, in mental, and in the latter portion in the spiritual activity.
26. Thus detail as related to business associations, business relationships; those interests in things of an unusual nature, those interests in things in and about water, are a part of the latent influence about the entity's activity.
27. And, as indicated, if there is the desire for creating of material things, invest in those things as ply in water, - whether only partially or wholly applied to such activities.
28. Before that the entity was in the Roman land, during those periods when there were the greater relationships with the Grecians, or the attempts of the Romans to induce or to bring about the coordinating of the body-development as was being projected into the activities from the Grecian experience.
29. Thus the activities of the entity were found in the Grecian games as coordinated or prepared for application in the Roman experience.
30. Thus the arena, the outdoors, the activities in the athletic direction, things having to do with athletics, are latent and manifested interests in the present experience of the entity.
31. For, with the greater developments, there was the acknowledging by the entity of those things pertaining more to the mental and spiritual development as well as physical, and the attempt by the entity in its activities to make application of same.
32. Thus that latent coordination of consistency that finds itself manifested in the entity's experience, from some of its astrological applications also.
33. The name then was Rombert.
34. Before that the entity was in the land when there were those activities during the journeying from Egypt to the Promised Land.
35. Though the entity was not among those who reached the Promised Land, he was among those who were the defenders of those causes to which the two were engaged who reported the ability of the group - or Israel - to enter in at once.
36. The entity was not among the spies, but one that sided with those of the minority, reporting the abilities and the desirability of their entering at once.
37. The entity was also of the tribe of Aaron, or of Levi; but not of those that were ever active in the temple, - more as those that cared for the temple activity.
38. Thus the entity was acquainted with those conditions which had to do with the preparation by Moses, by Joshua, by Aaron, and by those in authority, as to the manner in which the groups were to be formed in their march.
39. Thus certain routine, certain activities always become a part of the entity's experience; the desire that right things be in their right place, and that right things should follow in a consecutive way or manner. These become as latent and manifested experiences for the entity.
40. The name then was Shem, - of the brethren of Moses and Aaron; of that group dedicated for a special service in activities in that direction.
41. Keep the faith, then, as was indicated there. For those who seek are indeed Israel, and Israel indeed is ALL who seek; meaning not those as of the children of Abraham alone, but of every nation, every tribe, every tongue, - Israel of the Lord! That is the full meaning of Israel.
42. In the present, then, we find that there may be that systematic use of those tenets as superscribed there by the lawgiver himself, - these may be well applied in the present.
43. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land, during those periods of reconstruction, - when there had been the return of the Priest from banishment, and the unification of those activities of the Natives following the rebellions, as well as the entrance of those from the Atlantean land.
44. The entity was among those of that land to which the Priest had been banished, and returned with the Priest to those activities in the Egyptian land.
45. Thus the entity aided in establishing what became the schools for the training in the vocational guidance. The entity's particular interest was pertaining to the body preparation.
46. Thus its interest in those things as would particularly have to do with the structural portions of the body, - as a dentist, as a surgeon, as a student of those things having an influence especially upon the protection to the structural portions. These were a part of the entity's activity.
47. And the entity aided in the service in the Temple of Sacrifice, which is represented in the experiences today in which the entity may find outlets for self's activities, - in that of preserving for individuals those portions of the system that may better aid the individual in supplying needs for physical sustenance in the material experience at present.
48. The name then was She-Bit-El.
49. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, and that to which it may attain in the present;
50. First, know thine own ideal, and the author of thy ideas and ideals. Know in Whom you have believed, as well as in what ye believe.
51. Then, study to show thyself approved, a workman not ashamed, but rightly dividing - and divining - the words of truth; keeping self unspotted from the world.
52. In material expressions, - anything that would have to do with the body-preservation, whether of the anatomical structure or medicinal applications, or as a dentist, or in those fields that would have to do with the application of self to things moving in, on or through water, may the entity find the greater outlet for it abilities.
53. But, as given, keep self unspotted from self-condemnation, or from others condemning self for inconsistent activity.
54. Ready for questions.
55. (Q) Why is it that, although I like my work, I do not get full satisfaction and adequate financial compensation?
    (A) For, - as indicated, - there is a division in self as to what it would LIKE to do. Things pertaining to the water would make for more financial gain. However, in the position as of the present work, to be able and willing to give individual advice and counsel may bring much more spiritual advancement.
56. (Q) How can I achieve these?
    (A) By making practical application. For, as ye work and apply self in spiritual things, ye work not alone.
57. (Q) Is there any problem in dentistry that I ought to follow?
    (A) As a specialist especially in Riggs Disease, or a specialist of such diseases in that direction, would be excellent.
58. (Q) Just how should I get started with this?
    (A) Study, as indicated, to show thyself approved; that is, the abilities to meet all of those varied conditions that arise from same, - and at the same time don't forget to eat the Jerusalem artichoke, - about every other day, - and you'll keep that weight as well as that sugar, and the heart and liver circulation in better shape!
59. (Q) In what way can I best serve my country during this emergency?
    (A) In anything that would have to do with adding to the betterment, or making the lives of those who serve better in accord with their needs, - physical and mental.
60. (Q) Could I do it better by remaining in civilian practise or by entering some government service?
    (A) The opportunity might be for FUTURE application either in civilian or government service, but do let it have to do with water rather than land forces! but, stationed at some port, to be sure.
61. (Q) In which previous incarnations, and how, have I been associated with the following: First, my wife, [2771]?
    (A) An acquaintance in the experience before this. In the Roman experience there was the same relationship as borne in the present, - husband and wife, though one a Roman and the other a Grecian. In Palestine, known of and acquainted with the activities of one another, - for they were both of the same group and kinsmen. In the Egyptian experience, pretty good friendly enemies.
62. (Q) My son, [2779]?
    (A) As we find, the closer association was in the Roman experience. Hence the needs for the aid in developing the PHYSICAL body of the son.
63. (Q) My daughter, [...]?
    (A) In Egypt. It was a very close association there.
64. (Q) My daughter, [...]?
    (A) Only as we find in the Egyptian, - and she was a good lady friend then!
65. (Q) Please advise me regarding my association with my father, [...] (deceased), who often appears to me in dreams. Is he my spiritual guide?
    (A) Rather, as then, would he direct thee again to that spiritual guide that is found in the law. For, in the experiences in the journeys through the wilderness, the counsel then was oft from him - as he acted in the capacity as a guide and guard.
66. We are through for the present.

    (Note: The Jerusalem artichoke, if not on the market now, may be obtained from The John A. Salzer Seed Co., LaCrosse, Wisconsin, for a few cents a pound. It may be preserved in a flower pot or in the ground, - not on ice or in the air. Usually, in a Physical Reading, when this type of artichoke is recommended, there is the advice to eat one - about the size of a hen egg - with the meal, - not by itself but with the rest of the meal, - one time raw, the next time cooked. It is cooked in the same manner as a boiled irish potato, except it is boiled in the jacket always and the juice preserved to be eaten with the bulk of the artichoke, after being mashed and seasoned to taste.)

1. 6/27/42 He and wife both said afterwards, "Every word of it so true! Perfectly remarkable, - the physical angle, for instance. I do have a circulatory disturbance - phlebitis.
   "About the waterways investment, I do have an opportunity often to invest in such, - a few months ago I had a chance to invest in the St. Lawrence project, but didn't - perhaps I can still do it. My money has never come from my profession as a dentist, yet it does give me an opportunity to be of help to a great many people. I'm always making contacts for other people so that they get into the right work or make money."

   Dear Miss Davis:
   Enclosed you will find a series of questions to be used for my Physical and Health Reading scheduled on Monday, July 6th at 10:30. I just remembered that I do not have the application blank for same but will send it immediately upon my return home today.
   You will also find enclosed a picture of my son, [2779], who will have a life reading on Tuesday afternoon. Questions for his reading will be enclosed with his application and my application.
   I am eagerly looking forward to this reading of mine and like a kid I cannot await its return. I am therefore enclosing postage to cover special delivery in order to assure its hasty return.
   Mrs. [2771] and I have had great joy from our readings and will see [903] and [257] on Saturday night and give them an opportunity to get acquainted with us, past, present and future. Mrs. [2771] and I will long remember the pleasant days we spent with the "Cayce Family" and look forward to the day when we can again be with you.
   A small bottle of Ipsab arrived. If, by any chance, any mention of it is made in connection with my reading, I would appreciate receiving a quantity of it.
