Dear Mr. Cayce,
Enclosed is a money-order for $5.00.
I am very much interested in the reading but have not had
as much time as I'd like to spend on it as my mother broke
her hip recently and I have my hands more than full.
I did not realize I could ask questions when I sent in my
application or I would have asked you several that have
bothered me. I am of a gypsy temperament, ready to pack my
bag and trunk and move on at short notice. I have very
little use for possessions.
Here I am, the single daughter, tied to keeping house with
many rooms and an acre of ground and it may be many years
before I am released. My family is tied to property and all
the responsibilities and difficulties that go with it, and
I have to be drawn into it, against all my inner desires,
because it is my duty. I suppose I am simply paying a Karmic
debt.
You mentioned I had more than one name. It is very true.
I was baptized [
2798] and used it for many years. When I was
22 years old, I obtained my birth certificate and discovered
the family doctor had listed me as Ellen Frances, a
combination of my mother and father's first names, Mary
Ellen - M. - Francis Marion - F.
My parents never believed in a middle name and did not want
their children to have them. They were very slow about
deciding my name, so that is why the doctor took the matter
into his own hands.
When I left ... with the sincere hope that I would never be
forced to live here except for short intervals or visits, I
adopted the present ... spelling and always expected some day
to make it legal, as it is the spelling I prefer. The New
England and Chicago branches use the Z spelling entirely.
There are many varieties used by the various branches, so I
never felt it made much difference before God and I did not
mind what man said.
I will write you again when I have more time. Is is too late
to ask you general questions that puzzle me about this earth
life?
I have always had a great pull and love for Egypt and I have
managed to see the Pyramids and Sphinx on a trip around the
world. I felt heartsick at the time because I could not get
to visit Jerusalem.
Yours is a great gift.
Ever sincerely yours,
[

Dear Mr. Cayce,
I am enclosing a money-order for $6.00 - the final payment
on the $20.00 fee for my reading, which I greatly enjoyed.
It was such a disappointment to me that I could not get to
either of your two New York meetings for I did want to meet
you at least once. But I have had a very hectic winter
taking care of this large house, with its elderly inmates,
two nurses, and my mother who has taken her misfortune rather
hard. The worst is now over, both in weather and her
recuperative period, for she is walking quite well with a
cane and crutch and next week she will be on her own again,
with only my help.
I look forward to meeting you at some future date and I
expect to look up Mrs. Chandler when I can get the
opportunity. I am interested in your work but no time nor
money the way I am now situated to be of any assistance to
you.
All best wishes.
Very sincerely yours,
[
