8/16/44 EC's letter to Mrs. [
2845]: "Pardon me for not
replying to yours of July 25th sooner, but I have been trying
to get a bit of rest, and trying to get to feeling better.
Maybe I have had the rest, but I don't feel much better!
I am just, today, undertaking to do something about the great
amount of correspondence on my desk.
I am sure you are kept quite busy, and we are very glad to
hear from you from time to time.
I don't recall just at present, but I suppose you can tell
from the information itself, as to whether there was any
anxiety indicated at the time of your reading. I can
understand how there must have been some confusion for you,
having so many, and under such circumstances it would have
been very well if you could have let us know about this so we
could have changed the time for you, but I do hope that you
got just what is needed at the present time, and that you
will soon be feeling your normal self again.
I wish you could have been with us at the Congress. I am
sure you would have enjoyed meeting some who were here.
We hear from the boys regularly. One is in France now.
They both seem to be getting on very well. We can only put
them in the hands of the Lord, and trust all will be well.
Thanks a lot, and do let us hear from you from time to time,
and if we can be the means of help, know we are more than
glad to do so."
