This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 19th day of February, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - [2919], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., through Mr. [333] and sponsored by Mr. David E. Kahn.

Present: Edgar Cayce; Hugh Lynn Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Born November 27, 1905, 5 A. M., Thursday, in log cabin on Canoe Branch, at Manila, Johnson County, Kentucky.

TEXT

1. HLC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: (In going back over the years from the present - " - '41 - changes, responsibilities - '40 - '39 - '38 - changes - '34 - anxiety - '32 - '16 - yes - " etc., on back to birth date.)
3. Yes, we have the records here of that entity now named or called [2919].
4. In giving an interpretation of the records as we find here, these we choose with the desire and purpose that this be a helpful experience for the entity. But only in the application of suggestions as may be made may there come even the awareness to the entity.
5. We give those influences as we find, that would relate the entity to the universal consciousness, with that understanding of those latent forces that are manifested in the personality of this entity, of the entity's ability to bring not only weal or woe to self but to many others.
6. For, being entrusted with authority only puts the greater obligations upon the entity to use same to the glory of Him who is the Giver of all good and perfect gifts, and not to the satisfying or gratifying of self and self's own emotions.
7. Then, - we find Mercury, Jupiter, and Neptune, with Mars; urging the entity both in the mental and in the unitarian or universal, and in those extremes that may be the experience of the entity.
8. One of high mental ability. As to whether this is to be used unto the glory of Creative Forces, or the satisfying of others who have entrusted the entity with authority, depends upon the ideal of the entity.
9. Jupiter gives those abilities to coordinate, to bring cooperation with groups and those of many purposes; and gives the activities both in the occult and the mystic, and an unusual political factor in the experience of the entity.
10. So, the entity may play politics, but to work at same is something else. Remember, whatever authority is given is by and through the grace of the Creative Force. Do not over-step thy bonds.
11. As to the appearances in the earth, - these have been quite varied, yet have a very definite pattern, as will be seen in the activities of the entity through the earth:
12. Before this the entity was active in that known as the American Revolution.
13. The entity was given that authority to collect and gather stores for supplying troops in varied portions of the land. And this the entity did through its abilities as a personality, as well as its consciousness of a duty or a conviction within.
14. Then the greater influence in the present experience: Do not tackle those jobs that ye may not do with all good conscience. While, to be sure, the conscience may lead the self astray at times, with the basic principles that prompted the entity then, - as Austin McGruddur, there may be the keeping in the correct line.
15. Then, - know thine own ideal, physically, mentally, spiritually; and keep in those ideals, in showing thyself approved unto that thou hast chosen.
16. Before that the entity was in the Roman and the Holy Land, when there was the problem of setting the levying tax upon the various districts.
17. The entity then was among those that set up such in the various districts about Jerusalem, Antioch, Damascus, and other lands as well.
18. There the entity used much to satisfy self, and yet those principles that prompted the gatherings or showing of abilities of certain groups were those things that brought the spirit of fellowship among those with whom the entity labored.
19. The abilities in the present, then, in organizing work, organizing activities in various groups, become a part of that to which the entity may contribute itself, in the greater way or manner.
20. Making conclusions as to costs, as well as the abilities of groups or individuals to pay, may be a part of the entity's experience in the present.
21. Be true to the trust given, but as of God and not as of man.
22. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian experience, when there was the dispersing of groups as a result of the unifying of material, mental and spiritual truths through the rebuilding in the land.
23. There the entity was among those sent as emissaries, to coordinate various groups, in the land from which the Priest and the King had come as well as the Persian and the land of Saad or Indian or Mongoloid land, and the land of On and Og.
24. These are the influences as in language, as well as in customs of others, and of other groups and nations, that become of interest to the entity, as well as the abilities in making friendships in unseeming places.
25. These are characteristics of the entity, then, and thus must be used to the glory of the Creative Forces and not abused to that of self-indulgence or the gratifying of any selfish motives.
26. In the experience then the entity made for gains, and was of those peoples that had come from the land where the Priest had been banished.
27. Hence the entity grew in a united effort, in the uniting of many peoples.
28. Before that the entity was in the Atlantean land, during those periods when there were those temptings from the sons of Belial to the children of the Law of One.
29. There the entity, in authority, attempted to use those groups to meet and overcome those temptations set by those in high places.
30. The entity remained steadfast, and thus we will find in the activities through this material plane that the steadfastness to an ideal, as set from a spiritual motivation, will be the channel through which peace may come to the entity in its contribution to the better welfare of the groups through which the entity may labor in the present.

32. (Q) From what ethnic group am I descended?
    (A) Those groups as indicated that are the keepers of the pledges of peoples to groups.
    As to its own blood or lineal relationships, these should remain ever as He gave - "Who is my brother?" "He that doeth the will of the Father, the same is my brother, my mother, my sister."
33. (Q) What has been the basic philosophy of my progenitors?
    (A) Rather, what is the basic philosophy of self. That should be the ruling or questioning influence, rather than as to the progenitors. For, it is self that is constantly meeting self. The progenitors have given the opportunity, which is indicated in thy being in a line that is in keeping with that which has been the purpose of the entity.
34. (Q) In view of these factors, in what field of activity may I expect to make a contribution to my time?
    (A) As indicated, in any field that has to do with the cost, the price fixing, the abilities of groups to pay. In any phase of such fields of activity.
35. (Q) How should one proceed to become most effectively identified with the great events and movements of his age?
    (A) You've made a very good start, if you will keep in the straight and narrow! But he that looketh back, it is better that he hadn't been born.
36. (Q) What special equipment, innate and acquired, qualify me for the consummation of my objectives?
    (A) TRUTH! Judgment, sincerity, and stick-to-it-iveness!

1. 2/02/43 Mr. [333]'s letter: "Enclosed is an application for a Life Rdg. for a friend of mine who is reading THERE IS A RIVER. Mr. [2919] is known to Dave Kahn and Dave is sponsoring the rdg. and asked me to pass this information on to you.
   There is a possibility of a close tie-up between [2919], Dave, my son [670] and myself."
