This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of February, 1943, in accordance with request made by the uncle - Mr. [849], Active Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Present: Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Born October 3, 1939, 5:30 P. M., St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, Connecticut.

TEXT

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions that may be asked.
2. EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [2922].
3. In giving the interpretations of the records as we find them here, there is much to be chosen from.
4. Here we find a great number of earthly experiences influencing, or in the influence of the entity in the present. And the greater disturbance will be choosing, from the great number, that line of endeavor which will be good - or best.
5. In choosing, then, that we would give from the records here, - it would be well, as unfoldments begin, that there be a return again and again for directions in those activities - as there is the unfoldment in the mental, the spiritual and material affairs.
6. These we would choose, then, with the desire that this information may be a helpful influence for the entity; enabling those responsible to assist the entity in fulfilling the purposes for which it entered this present experience.
7. These, and more, we will find in the experience of the entity:
8. One who will give a great consideration to art, in all its various forms.
9. One who will be, or may make of himself, a very good musician.
10. One that will find a great deal of interest in literature, especially that of an unusual or of an intuitive nature.
11. The entity would, with application, make an excellent historian.
12. With direction, - if chosen, - the entity would make an excellent speaker, minister, or one given to work or direction among those of many different modes of activity.
13. One that would be especially gifted in languages, and especially in relationships to teaching, to directing or instructing others in some given language.
14. Thus, as we see, in the abilities of the entity there is quite a diversified way or manner of living.
15. These, as we find, are those things to be warned of:
16. Easily might the entity become very self-conscious. And the breaking of the spirit or purposes of the entity in the early ages might give a complex that would change the whole nature of the entity.
17. Most of these we shall see from those appearances in their various natures in the earth, and the application the entity has made of same.
18. It is well, then, to direct the entity through love and through counsel, and not by that method of doing without giving the reasons for the entity adhering to this or that rule or regulation.
19. Easily might the entity become one that would talk of self too much.
20. While the entity will ever be a good listener, do direct the entity so that there is always the consideration for others.
21. Astrologically, - we find Uranus (the extremist, of course, in same), Mercury (the high mental abilities; for at least eight to ten experiences have been through the Mercurian consciousness - thus, quick in the varied fields will the entity in material happenings find ways and means of expression).
22. As to the appearances in the earth, - while not all may be given, we find quite a number that have a direct influence upon the entity in the present:
23. Before this the entity was in the land of the present nativity, in those periods following the Civil War in America.
24. The entity then was a soldier that returned and undertook, through those activities, to introduce much of those actions gathered from the peoples of the southland in his own country, roundabout portions of Connecticut.
25. And those things that had to do with the making of cloth were a part of the experience, but it was the hum of the machinery as well as the contact with the people that interested Nathan Satterlee through that sojourn.
26. Thus the ability as a manager, and the desire to run the household in which it will be found. In any class or school in which the entity may go, it will run it if they don't watch out!
27. These will be those things that are to be guided, and directed. While they are virtues, if misapplied they may become stumblingblocks.
28. Before that the entity was in the land of the present nativity during the early settlings, among those groups that settled especially in Rhode Island, and those groups associated with the leader that made those overtures to the natives of that particular land.
29. Then in the name Roger York, sometimes spelled with an "e", the entity was a teacher, a gatherer of data that made for better relationships with settlers in the land, as well as being a student of nature. These activities combined made for a great manifestation or expression, which we will find indicated in the present.
30. Hence, if there will be the better health physically for the body, the entity in the present will necessarily spend a great deal of time in the open, and especially in the sunshine. Not necessarily will there be the affectation to the pulmonary system, but the needs for the meeting of other karmic conditions (as may be given), as well as the application in that experience as York.
31. These will find expression also in the abilities at outdoor games. But the teaching, the ministry, the historian or the gatherer of data, its interest in color, in nature, and especially in the songs of birds and the abilities to set these to music, will be those things that may be developed through the activities of those directing the latent and manifested abilities of this entity, [2922].
32. Before that the entity was in the English land, during those periods when there were the struggles of those peoples of the Norse land, as well as those occasionally from the Spanish land.
33. The entity then was a teacher, - yea, a padre, a father; and gave much to those peoples of the English land in the gathering of data concerning the physical and mental developments of peoples through that period.
34. Thus the direction, the generalship, the management, again enters the experience of the entity. If directed, it may become creative. If the aggressiveness is the expression of selfishness, it may become destructive.
35. Then the entity was called Milligan.
36. Before that the entity was in the Holy Land, during those periods when there were the teachings by the disciples and the Apostles.
37. The entity while young in years attempted to picturalize the scenes as were told the entity of the Master's activities.
38. These, or any and all such drawings or pictures of the life of the Holy Child, will have an interesting effect upon the body. And watch how often he will tell you they left out this, or put in that - especially in the younger years!
39. Then, these are sources from which we will find an interest in various types of art, especially those descriptive of nature or of the activities of individuals in associations with such; as of battles or battle scenes, or those depicting the fireside - or peace at home.
40. The name then was Carvett. The entity held a position of power throughout that period of journeying through many lands, in its abilities as a cartoonist - or the beginning of that development, in certain definite schools of art.
41. Before that the entity was in the Persian or Chaldean land, during those periods when there were the preparations for the return of the children of promise to the Holy City, and the building up of same.
42. There the entity was an associate with Zerubbabel the priest, being rather the musician; directing the music through those periods of the march to Jerusalem while returning to same, and also in the repairing of the temple, and in the attempts of the entity then - as Zebeulan to restore some of those activities of David, who set the sounding of cymbals, of trumpets, of the harp, as a part of the worship - or at the reading of the law.
43. The entity's interest will be found in certain characters of music; anything that is of a martial nature, or that is of a descriptive nature. As has been indicated, the song of birds, as of waters, as of many combinations of such, - as thunder and lightning, and all of nature's activities, - these are the characters. These may find expression, dependent upon the choice of the entity as to its field of service or activity.
44. Before that the entity was in the earth during those periods when there was the choosing of the individuals who were to bear the rams' horns when there were the marchings of the children of Israel in the wilderness, after the setting up of the tabernacle and the ordaining of the priest; when individuals were set to perform certain offices.
45. The entity was among those who marched around Jericho. This was the high point in the experience or the unfoldment of the entity, as Abajalon; for he was among the first of those to enter the city when the walls came down.
46. In the experience the entity was a leader, a musician, a director, a historian. For he was also the scribe to Joshua when there was especially the drawing of lots, in those activities that followed the destruction of Jericho.
47. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land, during those periods following the activities when coalitions were made with the Natives, the Atlanteans, the Priest and the King; when there was the return of the Priest to a power, - not political and yet had its political aspects, as the Natives drew closer to the choosing of the vocational activities in that particular period of unfoldment.
48. The entity then was among the Natives set in authority, as a counselor to many of the varied groups, and the historian of that which was to be preserved among the records of the Atlanteans as well as of the Native peoples.
49. The name then was Ast-Ar-An.
50. As to the abilities in the present, then:
51. These are wide, or broad. Thus the necessity of careful consideration and direction of the entity in the use of its talents, its abilities.
52. As the writer, the historian or the musician, and the arts - these must be choices of the entity and those who would direct the life in its preparation for whatever field of service is chosen.
53. Ready for questions.
54. (Q) What obstacles will he present during his childhood and adolescence?
    (A) As indicated, - the having of his own way, and especially in being the boss of whatever group or in whatever associations he will be set.
55. (Q) What have been his past relationships with his present mother?
    (A) These we find in varied manners, but especially in that period in the Holy Land when the entity was active in attempting to picturalize or draw the life - and incidents in the life - of the Holy One.
56. (Q) With his father?
    (A) In that same experience, and in Egypt.
57. (Q) With his uncle, [849]?
    (A) Egypt! Then very closely associated.
58. (Q) With his uncle, [1156]?
    (A) In Egypt, as well as in palestine; but rather as rivals in Palestine. We are through for the present.

1. 3/03/43 Uncle [849]'s letter - first paragraph - thanking EC for his little daughter's physical reading [1521-7]:
   Second, let me thank you for the Life Reading for my nephew, [2922], which was one of the most unusual ones I have seen he was the historian in Egypt, but to me the most interesting thing is how this links with heredity - you see my sister is Irish one generation removed from the old sod, but her husband is of an old Yankee family, and [2922] has had two previous incarnations as a Connecticut Yankee. He seems to have many talents - I wrote a little treatise on it and set [sent] it to my sister, who will be delighted with it I know - she can teach him music and painting and she has been a teacher and is patient with children. Some day he will fit into the work, I am sure. You don't know how glad I was to find another staunch Native!
