This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 5th day of June, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [3029], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book There Is A River.

TEXT

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: (In going back over years from the present - " - '41 - changes - '40 - '39 - '37 - preparations - " etc., on back to birth date.)
3. Yes, we have the records here of that entity now called [3029].
4. In giving the interpretations of the records as we find them here, these we choose from same with the desire and purpose that this may be a helpful influence for the entity; enabling the entity to better fulfil those purposes for which it entered this present experience.
5. If the entity is to make a career for self, it is entirely engaged in the wrong environment, in the wrong activity. For, the entity is an Atlantean. As so oft indicated, in periods certain individuals or groups of souls enter. As, between '09 and '12, '10 and '11 brought that great influx of Atlanteans that have had and are having such an influence in the affairs of the world today. Not a hero in this present war that was not an Atlantean as yet, living or dead!
6. In giving the interpretations, then, these we choose with that hope, that desire, that there may be due consideration given; for the tendencies in this entity in the present are to allow self to be imposed upon. And, as each Atlantean, it will either make a wonderful success or it will become almost a complete failure.
7. To be sure, patience, longsuffering and endurance are in their respective manners urges that would lead to virtues, but they cease to be a virtue when the individual entity allows self merely to be imposed upon, and to take second place merely because someone else, of a more aggressive nature, imposes.
8. The entity's activities should be in relationship to that of companion or nurse; as an individual entity that would act as a private secretary with the abilities of companionship where there is a great deal of trust, a great deal of confidence put in the entity; or as the confidential secretary - but not to a man! This would bring the entity into those activities where a greater outlet and a greater dependence might be had in self, and also bring those relationships where those even in the opposite sex would offer greater opportunities for the outlet for the entity's abilities in this particular period of activity.
9. Astrologically we find Mercury, Uranus, Jupiter and Venus as the ruling forces; a high mental ability, the interests in the occult, the desire for knowledge, a universal consciousness, and the extremes as may come into the experience of the entity in any or all of these.
10. As to activities indicated by the material sojourns in the earth, we find that the Atlantean sojourn is the outstanding; while those experiences in between have been short-lived, they have been very varied.
11. Before this, then, the entity was in the land of the present nativity, during those early periods of settling what is known as the Mohawk Valley.
12. The entity was among the young peoples of that period; one given to good works, and yet the raids that came about through the natives being fired by low-minded individuals of other groups, brought sudden and short-lived activity.
13. Yet the patience, and the tendency to allow self to be imposed upon, comes from that sojourn. While one should not be dictatorial, nor self-demanding, yet PURPOSE and ideal is not as of self. And in the expression of self, and in the willingness to expend self, may indeed come a great deal of happiness for this entity. But let it be purposeful and not someone else's purpose! But of thine own choosing.
14. Then the entity was known as Laura Inghles. In the experience the entity was easy to be acquainted with, and an inspiration to many.
15. And, if there are the choices of activities in those directions indicated, the entity may in the present become the inspiration for many; not only as of someone writing verse, but someone of a moonlight night and someone for a home!
16. Before that the entity was in the Roman land, during those periods of oppression and distress because of the entity's choices for certain direct thoughts, or the entity's acceptance of the teachings of the Nazarene.
17. The entity was persecuted, - yea, was among those that even in its early life was torn by the beasts in the arena, to gratify selfishness.
18. Thus we find the fears that at times creep into the entity's experiences, as it would command or demand of itself, of its surroundings, of its associates, even that it holds as the highest principles. And these make or produce fears in the experience.
19. Thus, as indicated, in the help or aid or directing for others, by its OWN choice, the entity can or may become commanding, and in that way of completing and fulfilling those ideals that were held when the entity chose to be rather among those fed or given to those activities in the arena.
20. The name then was Reneleuex.
21. Before that the entity was in the Arabian and Persian land, in those periods when there were the expressions indicated by the activities in establishing helpful forces as a hospitalization for the segregation of individuals because of certain types of disease, and those activities that were brought about by the teacher in that experience.
22. There the entity, though of those groups of the leader's peoples, dedicated self to a helpful force. And while the entity lived through that experience as a cloistered or a very much shut-in one, it was because of its own choice - and had a happy experience in that activity.
23. Thus in the lending of aid, - whether of a personal or impersonal nature (though the more personal the better it is really enjoyed by the entity, - may the entity be the happier through the present experience).
24. The name then was Ista-Botha. The entity spiritually, mentally, materially, was happy (and it knows so little of happiness in the present, because of doubts and fears, and yet the hopes, the visions of some such often creep into the dreams of the entity).
25. Before that the entity was in the Atlantean land, when there were those divisions arising just before the end or the destruction.
26. There the entity was among the children of the Law of One, and those of the elite of the period; not a princess, but among those of the princess court; and yet enamored of one of the sons of Belial.
27. This brought questionings, those periods of anxiety. As to the actual fact of physical activity, the entity ever remained true. As to the mental desires, these were expended often in the periods that would cause many questionings - even to those of that day, and that would be questions in the mind of the entity, or individuals clarifying same in the physical activity in the present, as related to relationships with varied groups and those of the other sex.
28. In that experience, though, the entity was rather in a position of indecision throughout.
29. The name then was Assemeleah; this indicating the activities of the entity.
30. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, then:
31. In whatever activity is chosen by the entity, be thine OWN director; not only in person but in thine own activities.
32. As indicated, in those fields of service as a nurse, as a companion, as a confidential secretary, - these would be the outlets in which the entity, if it seeks an activity for its finding of itself, may attract to itself the greater understanding in the material relationships of the home. And this is the desire of the entity.
33. Keep, then, the ideals; in spirit, in mind. Know that the Lord liveth and may manifest in thee, as He did in those experiences in the Atlantean land.
34. Dedicate thyself to brotherly love, patience, longsuffering, kindness, gentleness; but in a positive and not a passive manner.

    (A) As indicated; not only self-reliance but surety in the ideals of the body-mind.

    (A) It is in THIS experience that these are to be developed, and the character is in self - not in someone else. For ye must be able to MOULD the mind of thy associate, of thy companion, as to be ONE in the ideals and purposes; not in the manner of expressing, but in ideal and purpose. And there is one ideal, even Him, the Christ.

1. 3/30/43 [3029]'s letter to EC:
   "...Mother and I would both like to have a Life reading; also a health reading. We would also be interested in information regarding your literature...
   "Mother and I have just finished reading the story of your life and your work, THERE IS A RIVER, by Thomas Sugrue. Mother has been interested in philosophy for years and I am studying metaphysical philosophy, astrology, and the cabala evenings and in all my spare time. We attend all of Manly Hall's lectures when he is in New York and own most of the books he has written. I am telling you these things so that you may know that we understand your work and are not just writing out of idle curiosity... I do not know whether you proceed on the basis of a letter or whether we must fill out some forms. If we must fill out forms, will you please send them to me together with the amount of your fee. May I hear from you soon..."
2. 4/15/43 [3029]'s letter to EC:
   "Check for $40.00 is enclosed for two readings in accordance with the information contained on the forms. You will note that in my case I have given the name Florence in parenthesis. This name was given to me at birth. However, there was such a family argument over it, that it was eventually dropped. A year ago on checking up my birth certificate, I discovered that the doctor made a mistake and had registered me under the name Frances [...] With this confused information, I hope you will be able to find me..."
3. 5/17/43 [3029]'s letter to EC:
   "Although I have had my questions ready for some time, I have been so busy the last few weeks I was not able to get them off to you. Here they are: 1) What factors would enter into a change in my present job? 2) What are the important lessons that I am to learn in this incarnation? 3) What kind of a personality will I have to attract to work out my next incarnation? 4) Will the person with whom I became associated June 17, 1938, and who was born December 6, 1897, play an important part in my life through marriage or otherwise? I have had a strange feeling regarding this man, but in no way do I see marriage as a possibility now. This is only my own intuition. 5) Will I be able to use my present studies in occultism and astrology to be of service to others?
