TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3033].
2. As we find, there is somewhat of a complication of disorders that cause uneasiness to portions of this body.
3. With the change in the activity of the glandular system there have been those after effects of an intestinal disorder, or flu. This combination causes most of those activities through the central nervous system and blood supply to be somewhat at variance, or the lack of coordinating with the reflexes from sympathetic nerve forces through this central nerve organization.
4. Or, there are those disorders which arise in the digestive system, those uneasinesses at times when the body sleeps, or the awakening with the feeling of oppression, or those activities that cause such in this incoordinated activity through the body.
5. While there is not organic heart disturbance, neither lung disturbance, the body does become aware of the presence of both of these activities in the body at times. This is an oversensitiveness, or overaction.
6. And if there are administrations of a physical nature that would be made in variance to the disturbances, these might cause an upsetting of the body.
7. The activity of the digestive forces, and especially in the duodenum and the jejunum and colon, cause the formations of gas, a great deal of trouble with rumbling at times through the alimentary canal, a feeling of a fullness at or just below the right rib or rib area.
8. All of these, as we find, are the effect of this unbalancing, this incoordination of nerve forces in central nerve system and the sympathetic nerve system, produced by this reflex from an irritation through the alimentary canal in the flow of the lymph activity, and the glandular forces of the body.
9. These are the disturbances as we find with this body, [3033].
10. In making application of those things which as we find would bring bettered conditions for the body, these we would follow consistently, and in the order as may be indicated - ALL of them - even though the body may feel better when it has taken the first portion of the treatments or things as we find necessary, to change the chemical reactions through the alimentary canal.
11. First we would take some three to five hydrotherapy treatments, these about a week apart.
12. We would have at least two colonic irrigations, but these about two weeks apart - or the two taken DURING the period of the three to five hydrotherapy treatments, see?
13. Each general hydrotherapy treatment should include a Dry Fume Sweat followed by a Fume Bath using Witchhazel in the boiling water to produce the fumes that would settle over the body while in the cabinet, see? Use about a teaspoonful of Witchhazel to the pint of boiling water.
14. The Fume Bath should be followed - after the shower, you see - with a thorough rubdown, using an equal combination of Peanut Oil and Olive Oil for the massaging. Massage this combination of oil particularly in the area across the diaphragm, and along the spine, between the shoulders, and across the upper part of the lumbar area - or just below the kidney area.
15. After the three to five hydrotherapy treatments have been taken (not before), we would begin taking a compound prepared in this way and manner:
16. Prepare a fusion of Wild Ginseng - this would be 1/2 ounce of Wild Ginseng (preferably crushed, but not ground to powder) to 8 ounces of Distilled Water. Let this come to a boil, and then steep until cool sufficient to make the fusion. Strain this off, or filter. Then add, in the order named:

Wild Ginger (a fusion, made in this same
manner)..........................1/2 ounce,
Grain Alcohol..........................1 ounce.

17. Keep this as the medicinal properties. Take half a teaspoonful of this night and morning.
18. After these have been taken - these properties - for about a week to ten days, begin then with osteopathic adjustments; giving special reference to the activity of the thyroids, or the cervical and upper dorsal areas, with the lumbar and sacral axis areas coordinated with those corrections made. This would require about six to twelve treatments, see?
19. Do these, with precautions as to the diet.
20. Do add in the diet a little of CALCIOS. For this body take it about three times each week, just the quantity as would be spread on a whole wheat cracker - eating the cracker with same.
21. Do not take too much of proteins and starches together; that is, such as white bread, cheese or cheese preparations, with fat meats. Eat little of meats of any kind, save fowl or fish, and occasionally lamb.
22. Not pod vegetables. But do include beets, carrots - cooked - and onions, cooked, but not raw. Yams (sweet potatoes) may be taken, but do not take such as dried beans or lentils. Peas or butter beans or lima beans are not so good for the body.
23. Do these, and we should make for better conditions for this body.
24. This should take care of this shortness of breath at times, the unpleasantness of the disturbance through the alimentary canal, as well as those tendencies in the lower limbs and feet for anxiety at times.
25. Ready for questions.
26. (Q) While taking these treatments, should I continue or should I leave off the present homeopathic treatments?
    (A) We would leave off all treatments save these, and take them as has been indicated, in the order indicated, systematically, consistently, and ALL of them!
27. (Q) Is the loss in weight beneficial in the long run?
    (A) At the present, but should this continue it would not be so well. For the resistance is being destroyed, see?
28. (Q) What is cause for the intense soreness in back of shoulders, the right one especially?
    (A) As indicated, the incoordination between nerve forces of the digestive system - the sympathetic and the central system, see? Hence the reason why no greases, no fats should be taken. Of course, butter may be taken. And the vegetables should be prepared preferably with butter if any seasoning is to be used, but cook most of the vegetables in Patapar Paper, preserving their own juices and serving them in their own juices, and not in the water in which they are cooked!
29. (Q) Is there anything suggested to bring back normal hearing to the left ear?
    (A) When the osteopathic treatments or adjustments are made, have especial attention given to the Eustachian tubes in that particular area, and the adjustments in the upper cervical and dorsal - as indicated - should relieve a great deal of this trouble. This is not lack of hearing, but more as of noises, in the present.
30. We are through with this reading.

Two copies to Self (one to facilitate directions for the Physiotherapist and then later the Osteopath - Let us have the names of the ones you choose to give the treatments.)
    Copy to Ass'n file

BACKGROUND

1. 3/29/43 She wrote: "For many years I have had gastritis, I suppose it would be called. I have been under the supervision of a homeopath for almost a year now and feel that the thing should be conquered by this time. I have to eat small quantities of food and not mix starches and proteins generally. There has been a loss of weight, but that may be beneficial. The reading will tell the cause of the difficulty, I know. Occasionally (when I am tired perhaps) I wake out of my sleep with a gasp. The reading will help in all this. I take regular exercise but have to lie down an hour or more each day as I tire easily in standing around the house doing cooking, etc. I always walk in the fresh air every evening before retiring. I am having chiropractic adjustments but I do not know whether they are equal in value to the osteopathic adjustments or not. They help in the soreness in neck & shoulders brought on years ago by too much writing on the table when I was studying hard and a great many hours at the piano practicing. These adjustments seem only temporary. The reading will tell whether the osteopathic ones would be preferable, as well as more permanent.
"I have always wanted my life to be of service to others; but I have had to think so much about my eating and the gas attacks that I feel I am not the efficient person I should be at my age; therefore I feel positive that I have been guided to you, a living example of one who is indeed living a life of service for others."
2. 5/21/43 She submitted questions, including one about disappointment over not having children during 14 years of marriage & wondering if she and husband should now adopt some little ones. Perhaps the answer could come in a Life Reading.

REPORTS

1. 6/12/43 Mrs. [3033] wrote: "I have read over the instructions carefully and hope to start as soon as I can get the right physiotherapist to follow the directions. The diagnosis is remarkable indeed as it covers in detail the exact difficulties. I know that everything will be adjusted when the directions are followed; and you may be able to know how happy I am at the prospect. I shall send you the names later of those assisting, as you request.
"Thank you for telling me about Calcios. I am sending for it right away... I must tell you that my husband, a physicist, seemed happy indeed after reading the diagnosis and the directions to be followed since they are not too complicated to be carried out without our having to bother with an M.D.
"You will hear from me later on too when I shall have more to relate. Thank you most sincerely, Mr. Cayce."
2. 4/04/73 GD's note: If she wrote again, the letter did not get filed with her case. It is possible that in the stressful months ahead for Mr. Cayce, her correspondence could have been lost in the deluge of mail.
