This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of July, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [3101], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

Present: Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.

TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body, answering the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes.
3. As we find, conditions are gradually becoming rather serious for this body.
4. The slow form of activity, the hardening or crystallizing of the muscular forces, as in arthritis, is turning to that activity of the inflammatory nature through the lymph circulation.
5. Thus the more activity in the present is through the alimentary canal. Hence the inability for the assimilating of foods.
6. The body should remain as quiet as practical, for a period at least until there is the stabilizing of the circulation through the alimentary canal.
7. We find that the better reactions upon the body in the present may be had by the application, at least twice a day for thirty minutes, of the Glyco-Thymoline Packs over the whole abdominal area, to take the inflammation out of the intestinal tract, or to so act upon same by the oils and the alkalin-producing effects of these properties upon the circulation - by absorption - to relieve the tensions there. Use three to four thicknesses of cotton cloth well saturated with the Glyco-Thymoline.
8. Also we would take Glyco-Thymoline internally, a few drops in water - in each glass of water that is taken through the day - some ten to twelve drops each day for several days, but this amount taken in small quantities during the day, see? that is, two to three drops in each glass of water taken - or three to four to five drops, depending upon how much water is taken during the day. This should relieve the tension. Keep this up for several days, or until there is improvement. Then leave off, and take again a few days at the time, and so on - until the acute condition is removed.
9. It will be necessary to give enemas or colonic irrigations, scientifically, to remove the tendencies for the accumulations of poisons through the alimentary canal, and especially through the colon, during these periods. This will require at least five or six such irrigations during a period of a month. This will prevent the too-often activity of the alimentary canal, and the tendencies for the accumulation of fecal forces that cause the ingathering of the inflammation - which is tending to become consuming in its nature.
10. Fresh grape juice, or the juice from pressed grapes, would be well for the body to take.
11. This, with whatever foods the body is able to take, should relieve the tensions.
12. Beef juice taken as medicine will be the most strengthening as food. This being already digested will make for better assimilation. During a day take at least a tablespoonful, but take only half to three-quarters of a teaspoonful at the time, letting several minutes elapse while sipping that amount, see? This may be taken with a whole wheat cracker, so it will be more palatable for the body.
13. The beginning of this inflammation through the alimentary canal, unless arrested, is becoming of a consuming nature. And should it bring about hemorrhage, it will be very serious for the body.
14. But do these things as suggested, for they offer the greater opportunity for help for this body.
15. When these acute conditions have been allayed, then we may begin with the more beneficial effects to the arthritic reaction through the system.
16. Do not take more of the injections or those that would form a distillate in the accumulations already forming in the body.
17. But take - when the arthritic applications are to be started, you see, after the acute condition is allayed - Atomidine internally; three drops in a glass of water before the morning meal, and the same amount in the evening when ready to retire.
18. After the Atomidine has been taken for a period of ten days, begin to use saturated solution of Epsom Salts in Packs over the extremities. These should not be begun until the body gains some strength from the better assimilations. Gradually increase the frequency of using these, but in the beginning do not use them more often than twice a week. Gradually use them more often as the strength is increased.
19. These, as we find, offer the better opportunity for help for this body.
20. Ready for questions.
21. (Q) Should any other nourishment be given the body?
    (A) Any nourishment that the body can absorb. Junket, pre-digested foods, as well as the solid foods that can be taken - if they can be assimilated.
    We must gain more strength and allay this inflammation through the alimentary canal, before we begin with the Atomidine and the Epsom Salts Packs or Baths. For, this would necessarily take strength, you see; and the body is losing its vitality.
    But with the Glyco-Thymoline Packs, and the effect of these properties internally, the acute condition should be helped. As soon as practical begin with the crushed grape juice and the beef juice. These are just additions to the diet, that may be assimilated in the present.
22. (Q) Have I a chance to recover from these latest complications that have terribly weakened me?
    (A) You have a chance. But, as indicated, it will require QUIET on the part of the body.

1. 4/25/43 "For years I have suffered from arthritis, and now my heart and digestion are giving me trouble."
2. 7/12/43 "Since I wrote you last I have had a lot of trouble. My arthritis seems better, inasmuch as I have very little pain, but the digestive and cardiovascular system are in a very bad state. Nausea prevents me taking in enough food and I have lost over 30 lbs. in the past 2 months."

   Dear Mr. Cayce
   I received my reading for which I thank you, and have already began treatment by taking few drops of Glyco Thymoline in water.
   I do not know if I will have an opportunity to see Dr. Reilly, as I have, besides my regular physician, another one that has previously given me colonic treatments and it would not be fair to change for the present unless that doctor happens to be on his vacation as I haven't seen him nor taken any treatment for some months.
