Following the use of the Appliance, each day, massage the
body especially in the areas indicated, - 4th lumbar, 9th
dorsal, 3rd cervical, and then the rest of the spine and the
body, - with this combination of oils; adding these in the
ORDER NAMED:
Russian White Oil (or Nujol or Usoline).....4 ounces,
Sassafras Root Oil........................1/2 ounce,
Cedar Wood Oil..............................1 ounce,
Oil of Pine Needles.......................1/2 ounce,
Peanut Oil..................................2 ounces.
Shake these together, for they will tend to separate, and
massage especially into those areas indicated - but along the
rest of the spine also, including the limbs and particularly
the feet.
In the matter of the diet, - keep to those things that are
body building.
Use the vitamins to keep the strength of body and to maintain
a better equilibrium, - A, D, and B-1 Complex. The A and D
take of morning, the B-1 take when ready to retire at night.
Both of these should be of the B-1 brand.
Ready for questions.
(Q) Will this treatment relieve the difficult breathing and
feeling of weight and oppression at base of throat and upper
chest?
(A) This should relieve, if the massages are kept as
indicated for the body. The Atomidine attachment to the 3rd
cervical, especially, should relieve this pressure - this
only attached every third day, you see.
(Q) Ache and pain in lower back and sometimes across lower
front of stomach?
(A) All of the conditions should be aided, if the
applications are followed correctly.
(Q) [Left out of original copy] Regarding the Appliance:
Is the stainless steel attachment plate alright as a
substitute for the nickel?
(A) This will do.
We are through with this reading.

BACKGROUND
5/12/43 [
3111]'s letter: "Had ordinary childhood diseases
but nothing serious until 1915. I never was very robust and
between 1910 and 1915 worked in an office and attended night
school and may have put a strain on my system it could not
take. In Dec. 1915, for the first and last time I had a very
serious nose hemorrhage and was several weeks in bed
recovering and felt weak for months afterward. On a morning
in the spring of 1916 while walking up a slight hill I
suddenly felt a sharp burning sensation at the back of my
throat, just above the breastbone and a slight shortness of
breath. During the next few weeks this shortness of breath
turned into a decided sense of oppression on my chest,
particularly along the breastbone, then suddenly out over my
chest and back and the act of breathing became very
difficult. With every breath it felt as if I had a weight on
my chest and still [steel?] bands around it keeping me from
fully expanding my lungs and taking in enough air. This was
accompanied with severe backaches and at times I was so short
of breath I could not eat solid food. The family doctor was
afraid my breathing muscles were becoming paralyzed but he
did not let me know this until later when I had improved a
little through rest, heavy iron shots and still other strong
nervous stimulants. From the time of the first attack until
now I have never been able to take a real deep full breath
and expand my lungs in a free normal manner. The sense of
weight and oppression is always there, sometimes much worse
than others. I have managed to get along in a restricted way
but have found out I must never get extra tired and need at
least 9 hrs. sleep each night. I have been assured that my
trouble does to seem to be organic but I feel there must be
some obscure physical basis behind these symptoms. It may be
of interest that in 1917 I tried hypnotic suggestions from
the Dr. Quackenbos [Quackenbush] with whom you had some
contact but did not get any apparent results. I believe you
can understand how over many years I have developed a decided
fear complex and perhaps baby myself too much but I am sure
if it was possible to obtain even a measure of relief it
would change my way of life entirely... I have tried many
remedies and doctors with little success, and while sometimes
greatly discouraged have felt deep down that some day I would
get in touch with someone or something that could help."
Questions submitted:
1. Please give cause and relief for: Chronic difficult
breathing and feeling of weight and oppression at base of
throat and upper chest.
2. Ache and pain for the past 6 mos. in lower back and also
sometimes across lower front of stomach.
3. Burning feeling and ache in upper chest which has bothered
me for the last month. (I believe this to be from a cold,
but while it does not seem to get worse it also does not seem
to want to clear up. Also have a very slight desire to cough
at times.)
4. Nervous condition.
5. Please give advice as to constructive program for building
up entire system based upon present condition.
See questions for Life Rdg., under 3111-1 Par. R1.
REPORTS
6/24/43 Questions submitted for Life Rdg.:
For the life reading I believe you will want my full name
"[...]" born about 8 P.M., July 10th, 1894 at Eau Claire,
Wisconsin. For the first life reading I would like a general
survey of my past with a view to better understanding how I
arrived at my present condition. I would like to know of any
hidden talents I have which I could still develop in this
appearance and if I am following the proper vocation. During
all these years even when I was most miserable physically I
have felt deep down that better things were in store for me
during the last part of my life. I have a great desire to
crowd into what is left of this earth life everything that
might be good and constructive both for myself and others I
may come in contact with. I hope my life reading will act as
a guide to this end. With deep appreciation of your desire
to help me, I remain
Sincerely, [

For the readings I will be at home ..., Calif.

3111]'s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I have received the psychic reading of my case made July 27th
and was very much interested and impressed. I have already
ordered the wet cell appliance from Mr. Godfrey and will
follow the treatment you outline in every way. I have a
feeling I am going to be helped and needless to say feel very
grateful to you. I would like a follow up reading a few
months from now to see how far I have improved. I am looking
forward to the life reading on Oct. 8th with great interest
and hope. I have given several of my friends copies of
"There is a River" and in my small way will try and pass the
message of your work along. I have read "A Search For God"
and am going over it again more slowly. This is the outline
of a way of life that's sincerely worth while trying to
follow and I know I am going to get help and encouragement
from its study. On almost every page I found one or more
sentences expressing truth I could vaguely feel but could not
put into words. With gratitude for your efforts in my
behalf, I remain
Yours sincerely, [

Dear Mr. Cayce:
Many thanks for your nice letter of Aug. 14th which I have
delayed answering before as I thought I would be able to
report on the use of the appliance and the other treatment
suggested. However the appliance arrived with the jar badly
broken and I cannot start to use it until the replacement
arrives. I hope to be able to start treatments within the
next few weeks and will report progress after following out
your instructions for a period. I am looking forward with
deep interest to the life reading on Oct. 28th and have sent
in questions in one of my previous letters [Par. R1 above].
With great appreciation for your interest I remain
Yours very truly, [

3111]'s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I have been away for a few weeks or would have answered your
letter of Sept. 18th before this. I have finally got the
electric appliance in good working order, have taken six
treatments and will continue each day from now on. Perhaps
we can make another check up on my condition three or four
months from now. I have a feeling I am going to be much
improved and am looking forward to better days ahead. I am
looking forward with great interest to my life reading on
October 28th. In case the questions I sent you in a previous
letter for the life reading have been lost I will outline
them again here.
1. Some information as to the most important of my previous
earth incarnations so I may better understand myself today.
2. Best way to develop in the remainder of this earth life
and render service to others.
3. Any talents I may have that I could still develop and if
any change of vocation was suggested. With deep thanks for
your interest and help I remain
Yours sincerely, [

3111]'s letter to A.M. Godfrey:
Dear Mr. Godfrey:
As I seem to be making progress with my electric appliance
treatments I am anxious to continue the treatments for some
time to come. I have tried my best to get supplies here but
cannot seem to locate any. I wonder if you could help me out
by sending me the following:
Chloride of Gold - 6 - 6 ounce bottles
(Please mark on bottle how many grains in each bottle)
Atomidine - 6 - 6 ounce bottles
Zinc - 300 Grains in 30 grain pieces
Copper Sulfate - 15 lbs. in 1/2 lb. packages
Willow Charcoal - 5 lbs. in 1/2 lb. packages
If you can ship these by express as soon as possible I will
greatly appreciate it. I am enclosing a check for $25 and we
can make any adjustment later on.
Very sincerely, [
