12/14/25 EC's letter to [
3190]: "I'm just in receipt of
yours of the 10th. I was very glad to hear from you, felt
perhaps I'd better write you at once, if you wanted to get in
an appt. before you left ... and we would have to make it for
about the 29th. We will try to get both of them the same
day, so you will please return the cards at once, if this day
and hour will be satisfactory, and you will know just where
you will be at that time. Be sure that we have Mrs. [
3986]'s
full name.
"Yes, we have quite a boom on in this place, and some people
in the real estate game are making bunches of money. A man
closed a deal here last week - 90 acres for $90,000 and
another one the next day, right adjoining the same land - 35
acres for $75,000. We have two new hotels that are going up
and a lot of New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore capital
coming in. Of course that's what is boosting same. I know
it's nothing like the Florida boom, but I believe a fellow
certainly can make some money here.
"Yes, I had a note from Mr. Mohr, and he tells me he's doing
fine, just can't get hold of the material to complete his
building and is handicapped in that way. I certainly am in
hopes that he makes a fine go of it. I don't know of anyone
any more deserving and there's mighty few people I think as
much of as I do Mr. Mohr. I'm glad to know that Mr. [
77] is
getting along fine. I should think that if you can conserve
his strength, keep him in the right sort of condition, you
both should be able to make a big killing in ... or anywhere
in Florida, this winter. I certainly hope that you do. Not
because of anything it might mean to me, but for your sake
and for the young man's. Things have been kind of quiet for
us here, for you know it takes a little time to get
acquainted and a fellow has a lot of work to do. Then it
requires a lot of time to let people know about the change of
our address, so really it has been kind of hard on us,
financially. We've been up against it even - but I'm in
hopes that a sufficient number of our friends will come to
our aid and kind of help us through this hard time. Then
maybe we can all work a little bit better to-gether a little
later on. We have had some mighty good reports from the
people [[
3980], etc.] in ...
"Be sure and let us hear from you in time, and I hope this
isn't making the time too late in the month.
"With kindest personal regards to yourself and Mrs. [
3986]."
2/24/26 EC's letter to Mr. [
3190]: "Glad to have yours of
the 18th, and I'm enclosing you, herewith, the cards for the
appts. for the rdgs. for yourself and Mrs. [
3986]. I hope
this date will be satisfactory and that we may be of some
help.
"I'm glad to know that you are pleased with the prospects in
Florida, and I trust that the change will be advantageous to
you in every sense of the word. I hear from some of the
others that things are kind of slow at the present time, in
different parts of the state. I'm sorry things are going
kind of hard for Mr. Mohr but trust he'll pull through
alright. He's a good business man, though oftentimes,
apparently to me, takes long chances - but I don't know many
people that I think more of than I do Mr. Frank E. Mohr.
"You know, I think you ought to look over this real estate
situation here. I believe a man with the push and knowledge
that you have could really do something worth while, with as
much activity going on here as there is. Of course, I don't
suppose it's anything like Florida, but goodness knows the
prices and the profits that are being made are certainly
equal to what's going on most anywhere!
"Let me hear from you right away, that I may know this day
set for yours and Mrs. [
3986]'s readings will be
satisfactory. Hoping that you are feeling a great deal
better, and with kindest personal regards from all to you
both."
2/28/26 He submitted questions.
