GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering questions, as I ask them:
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3194].
Now, in considering the physical disturbances in this body as we find, many things are to be taken into consideration. The pathological conditions are such that these will prove rather serious all too soon - unless there is something done about the disturbances.
But, if anything is to be done in the way of correcting or eliminating the causes of the disturbances, much in the mental and spiritual must be considered by the body first. For, there will be little to be gained by making physical applications without there being a change in the mental attitude and spiritual purport of many of those conditions about the body.
In the physical we find there are those disturbances in the lungs. While these are not active forces in the immediate, the anxiety and the coordinating of those disturbances through the torso become rather evidences of the condition.
This, too, must be taken into consideration in administrations being made that would prove in any wise helpful for this body.
Many applications may for a few moments rid the body of the general pain, and may not be detrimental unless too much sedatives are used; however, this is not eliminating the sources or causes of the conditions through the body.
As we find, then, the involvement in the circulation as related to the lungs, liver and heart, we find making disturbances with the glandular forces of the eliminating system; setting up toxic forces through the body, causing distresses in the assimilating system, a great deal of headaches at times and a general tiredness throughout the body.
First, as we find: Change the attitude of the body, spiritually and mentally. Do not be so pessimistic about self, conditions, or others. Do not give expression to nor hold to, nor entertain malice, injustice, self-righteousness, or those things that cause such great amounts of anxieties through the body.
Do prepare the keg with apple brandy in same. In at least a gallon or gallon and a half keg, put half a gallon of pure apple brandy, not other than redistilled apple brandy. Prepare this so that the fumes from same may be inhaled, as it evaporates. Keep tightly corked. Don't use the brandy itself, merely inhale the fumes. In the beginning inhale once or twice a day. After a few weeks it may be stepped up to three times a day, inhale two or three times at each period.
Use Acigest as an aid in the assimilations of foods. For this particular body, begin taking only half a teaspoonful in a glass of raw milk every other day - at the evening meal. After ten days to two weeks it may be taken ever day. After another four weeks, a full teaspoonful may be taken each day.
As to the diet:
Keep away from any carbonated drinks or stimulations of any character, other than the sedatives necessary at times, do have fish and fowl often in the diet.
Do not take white potatoes with macaroni or the like at the same meal; that is, not two starches of this kind should be taken at the same meal. Do not use white bread.
Use beets often, and carrots often - cooked and raw; these would be well. Any character of leafy greens would be well. With this we would cook the tops of potatoes, the tops of carrots and the tops of beets - well cooked but without fats in same; using a little butter and seasoning just before the cooking is completed.
Keep away from beans, butter beans or corn, but do have leafy vegetables more often.
Have hydrotherapy treatments once a week until at least sixteen are taken. These should include mild sweats, more of a fume bath than dry heat. Use witchhazel in the fume, and the thorough massage afterwards.
Do these, - the use of the brandy fumes for the lungs, the Acigest for the digestive forces, - with the attitude changed first, - and we will find better conditions for the body.

(Q) Is there anything I can do to make this 'change of years' stop its working on me?
(A) Do these things as indicated and we will soon find these conditions corrected.
(Q) Will the prevent the spells of bleeding?
(A) This will prevent the spells of bleeding, if taken properly and the diet is kept correctly.
(Q) Should I take Liquid Peptonoids with Guicol and Creosote?
(A) Leave off these things as indicated, if these others that we have suggested are to be taken properly and in the manner indicate.
Keep up good eliminations.

My dear Sir,
May I ask you for the address of Mr. Edgar Cayce (or a means of reaching him).
Like most other people, I suppose my request pertains to a question I wish to ask regarding a physical difficulty - a rather unusual case of change of years. It has been going on for SO MANY years with so much pain that at least 90% of time is lost - to pain.
Physicians can do nothing. They say, "The higher-strung the temperament, the longer the racket continues." But maybe, there is a way to stop it. I certainly would appreciate it. I would like to ask also regarding a nasal operation.
As I am a very reliable person and love God above all things, I am sure if the good Mr. Cayce "sees" my existence he will KNOW that.
By writing I can learn from him how to arrange the offering for his services etc. And also supply him with satisfactory references.

4/13/43 [3194]'s letter:
I fell terribly ill on March 29 with a bleeding lung brought on by a medicine a specialist had given me to STIR circulation, as he was treating my ear & nose for effects of a cold of a year before. The lung has a small puncture (no one knows how it came) from 25 yrs ago. Any over-exertion of the heart makes it bleed. With that on Mar. 29 came one of the worst attacks I've ever had since this "change of years" began. Christmas Eve, I REALLY felt like I'd commit suicide with the pain. The months since have required great patience, but slowly I am getting so I can go about the rooms.
8/24/43 [3194]'s letter:
Mrs. [3194], 2nd Floor, New York City, wishes to ask two more questions (the others were sent in Aug. 12). Was the lung bleeding which came on Aug. 3rd caused by the nose-drops which I had JUST USED of which a little got IN MY THROAT? Are they SAFE for me to use? They have been helpful but if unsafe I'll not try them again. I had used them since Dr. Ruskin started treatments, but none ever happened to get into throat. When better physically would it be SAFE to have nasal and nose operation? Is there any danger of starting the lung bleeding if electricity is used lightly on face or neck? What can I do to prevent falling asleep whenever I go to my writing or necessary reading? It is a torture and unless my stomach is empty, it always comes over me and I CANNOT WORK.
Since I was sixteen I have had a nerve twitching in my knees whenever I had to SIT quietly - especially toward evening. I could NEVER sit and read, sit quietly in a church or theatre, or in my home. I would HAVE to keep MOVING or rub the knees. UNKNOWN to ANYONE else it has been a CONSTANT torture. It SEEMS to me that ALL my suffering arises from the female organs. No doctor ever knows and I've gone on without much complaint or aid.
My important questions which were sent to you Aug. 12 were: Can anything be done to heal the puncture (or whatever it is) in my lung to PREVENT it from breaking and bleeding? Any over-action of circulation, or walking, which seems to react on female organs and then on blood pressure and then on the lungs - causes it to give way. Would Liquid Peptonoids with Glyocol and Creosote help any to heal it PERMANENTLY? Can anything be done to heal the CONSTANT WORKING of the FEMALE ORGANS in "change of years"? It has gone on SO MANY years, tearing me down and with agonizing HEAD-PAIN mostly all the time and causing all this other trouble, that I am discouraged. It has rendered 11/12 of my time useless & in pain. What shall I do about MY EAR which has been TROUBLING me for seventeen months. Started with a cold that settled in my left ear. My HEARING has never been the same since. It "pops" every time I swallow. Three specialists have been unable to tell me WHY it "pops" or RELIEVE that. X-ray showed the nasal sinuses on that side were affected. I've had some treatments but little help.
WILL IT BE SAFE for me to take the CHLORINE TREATMENTS which are given for all such troubles; OR would THEY CAUSE the LUNG to BLEED?
In your letter of Aug. 16, you make the APPOINTMENT for September the 4th. I shall keep the WHOLE DAY in prayer. In FIRST of letter you say "afternoon of Saturday Sept. 4th. In closing you say Saturday MORNING, September 4th. I'll keep ALL DAY.
