This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 4th day of October, 1943, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. [3900], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3261].
3. As we find, these are disturbing conditions here - as they are the effects of a temperature produced in the body of a very low form, from congestions in the liver and incoordination between liver and kidney circulation. Thus poisons throughout the system, the tendency for lack of appetite - or the excess of same that upsets the body, and a more specific condition of infection where there have been those abrasions that cause a great deal of disturbance.
4. We would prepare a compound to be taken for purifying the blood. While this is not as a blood condition, there are poisons in the system from lack of proper eliminations. Combine these ingredients:

   Sulphur...................1 level tablespoonful,
Cream of Tartar...........1 level tablespoonful,
Rochelle Salts............1 level tablespoonful.

5. Mix these thoroughly together, very thoroughly. Of morning before the meal is taken, stir a level teaspoonful of this mixture in a glass of water and drink it. Not very pleasant but he can take it.
6. Do this for three mornings, leave off then, and wait for another week. Then take it again for three days, and wait another week, and take it again, and so on.
7. In the meantime have osteopathic adjustments made where there are subluxations in the upper dorsal and at the 3rd cervical areas.
8. For the conditions in the knee, or between knee and ankle or on the ankle, use Ichthyol Ointment to clear this disturbance.
9. In the diet keep closer to the semi-liquids; not too great quantities of meat, but fruit, vegetable soups - all characters, and whole grain cereals - oatmeal, Maltex and such. Use Cream of Wheat with Wheat Germ on same. All of these use in abundance for the body.
10. And with these we should clear these conditions.

12. (Q) Is the extreme nervousness and sleeplessness a purely physical thing that can be remedied with medicines?
    (A) Purely physical. Correct those disturbances in the areas indicated, but this will have to be done osteopathically.
13. (Q) Is the trouble he has with his eyes itching and burning caused from the chronic sinus trouble he has.
    (A) Caused from the kidney trouble as well as from the sinus, but all of these things suggested will help set up drainages. The osteopathic corrections should set up better drainages.
    As a spray in the sinus or in the nasal passages, use - in a De Vilbiss atomizer - an equal combination of Glyco-Thymoline and distilled water. Put the atomizer in warm water and let it be sufficiently warmed too before using; not hot but warm.

He is in a highly nervous state and I am really concerned about whether the doctor is going to accomplish anything of lasting benefit, altho I have confidence in him and believe he is as good as anyone we could find. Even the best doctors will admit that they often have to work by the trial and error method."

   ANSWERS TO QUESTIONNAIRE [by mother [3900]]:
   CHIEF COMPLAINT: Asthma was the condition for which a reading was requested, although it was not mentioned in the request or questions. (Please see attached explanation.)
   Asthma was not mentioned in the reading, or even anything relating to congestion in the lungs.
   I felt that this might have come about for several reasons: (1) My son did not share my complete faith that some definite help would come through this source. (2) I, being the one responsible, may have been too anxious or tense and caused some "static" which interfered, since I was going through a particularly trying time of extreme nervous tension and physical struggle to meet my daily responsibilities. (3) Perhaps the asthma was due to the poisons in the system and the subluxations in the spine, and Mr. Cayce was describing the causes without mentioning the effect they produced.
   TREATMENT: I prepared the compound and he took one or two doses at my insistence (nasty dose), but we were having some damp weather and it was stated that he should not get wet in the rain while having the sulphur in his system. Since he was in school and had already missed and [a] great deal of time due to asthma, and we could not keep him home part of each week for this treatment in addition...and I was working and had to shift most of the responsibility for his care to my mother...it became too complicated to be able to carry out this treatment.
   The osteopathic adjustments were made. I do not remember how many...probably ten or twelve. The adjustments were made by Dr. Claude Logan, who was merely tolerant of my credulity... in being so serious about trying to do exactly as he stated in the readings. He was not interested in investigating further about Mr. Cayce, though he admitted that the condition in the spine was exactly as given in the reading.
   I was surprised that the abrasions on the ankle and on his leg "between the knee and ankle" were even mentioned. Since he was in school and the Ichthyol was so messy to use, we found it impractical and did not use it. I do not remember what cured this condition. Glyco-Thymoline was probably not used long enough to have definite effect on Sinus condition. This condition is still bad...aggravated by hay fever at times.
