This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 21st day of October, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - [3306], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [5224].

TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3306].
3. As we find, there are disturbances that are preventing the better physical functioning of the body. These allowed to remain will become more and more progressive, incapacitating the body-locomotion, then gradually disintegrating the activities of functionings of organs.
4. These, as we find, primarily arise from a disturbance in the glandular system. They are the effects of an insidious infection, and are preventing glands from taking from that assimilated that which enables the nerves and muscles of the body to renew or to reproduce themselves in their proper cycle of activity.
5. Beginning in the present, while it will be slow for some little time (six to eight months), we may not only prevent or stop this disintegration but may add those vital energies sufficient to bring this body back to useful service.
6. These begin, then, with glandular disorders. Hence there should be first the purifying of the glands. Owing to the nature, as they arise from portions in the assimilating system. This involves the glands of a lobe of the liver, the kidneys, and the central circulation.
7. Begin first with taking internally one drop of Atomidine in half a glass of water each morning before any meal is taken. Leave off then for three days. Then begin again and take for another five days. Rest from it three days, and take for another five days.
8. THEN begin and apply Castor Oil Packs on and over the liver and the caecum area, one hour each day for three days in succession. Use at least three thicknesses of flannel (preferably old flannel) well saturated with Castor Oil. After the third Pack, - that is, on the evening of the third day, - take internally a tablespoonful of Olive Oil.
9. After this, rest from all of these for another week.
10. Do not begin with the Atomidine any more until the next month but then, and on the first of each month, take the Atomidine each morning for five days. Then rest from it until the next month and so on; but this is to be kept consistently. One drop is all that should be taken each morning, consecutively for five days, the first week in each month.
11. The Castor Oil Packs are to be given three days out of each week, but the same three days consecutively. The Olive Oil is to be taken after each three day series.
12. With the second series of the Castor Oil Packs begin using the Wet Cell Appliance carrying Gold into the system vibratorially - in the proportions of one grain of Chloride of Gold Sodium to each ounce of distilled water.
13. The charging solution for the Appliance would be regular; that is, to the gallon and a half of distilled water:

    Copper Sulphate...............1 1/2 pounds,
Sulfuric Acid, C.P................1 ounce,
Zinc..............................3 drams,
Willow Charcoal.................1/2 pound.

14. Recharge the Appliance every thirty days. Renew the Gold Solution every fifteen days.
15. Make the attachments each day for thirty minutes, as follows:
16. The copper plate would be attached at the 4th lumbar one day, and at the 9th dorsal the next day, and so on alternating. The large plate, through which the Gold Solution passes vibratorially would always be attached to the umbilical and lacteal duct center, which on this body would be five fingers from the navel center to the right and two fingers up from that point. Preferably use this Appliance in the evening.
17. Follow same with a thorough massage, using this combination of oils; adding the ingredients in the order named; shaking the solution each time before adding another ingredient:

    Usoline or Nujol, as the base.....6 ounces,
Oil of Pine Needles...............2 ounces,
Olive Oil.........................1 ounce,

    Peanut Oil........................2 ounces,
Oil of Sassafras................1/2 ounce,
Lanolin (liquefied).............1/2 ounce.

18. Shake these together each time before using, for they will tend to separate. Pour a small quantity in an open saucer, dip fingers into same and massage into the body in a rotary motion down each side of the spine and then over the limbs and especially the sciatic centers. Begin massaging over the 9th dorsal area and go downward; massaging thoroughly over the sacral area and the sciatic center, down the limbs, even to the toes and through the bursae of the feet, around the knees - and especially over the sacral area.
19. Give the massage each day following the Appliance, which should be used every day for at least the first six to eight weeks. When beginning this, do it every day. After the six to eight week period of using the Appliance every day, then it may be taken only four times each week instead of daily.
20. Do not give the massage when the Appliance is not given.
21. Keep these up, and in October of next year we would give further instructions. But keep up those applications for the whole period.
22. Do that, and we will find we will arrest these conditions, and we will build back to the useful, active abilities of the body.
23. Keep the mental attitude correctly. Know that there is a purpose for the entity's activity in the earth. Do not become discouraged. Dedicate rather thy life and thy ability to the service of the living God. For, it is in Him, ye live and move and have thy being. All healing, then, must come from and through Him. LIVE cheerfully, live purposefully, live expectantly; that He will use thy service for His - God's glorification; not thine but God's glorification. And ye will find good in all ye do.
24. Study these especially, not just to know them by heart but be able to repeat every word, but repeat it the better in thy life and in thy dealings with others: The 30th of Deuteronomy, the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th of John. And do it.
25. Ready for questions.
26. (Q) What should be done to rid myself of this frightful dizziness? And what has caused this condition?
    (A) As indicated, it is from the liver. All of these symptoms have been taken into consideration. Do the things given. Do the first things first.
    During the second week of the Atomidine, it will appear that the body is more dizzy than usual, but keep on. If it becomes necessary, make the quantity even less; that is, skip a day, but it will be well to have the first series as near as possible as has been indicated before the Packs are begun.
27. (Q) How long should these Packs be kept up?
    (A) Just as indicated, if it is necessary for the whole period, keep them the whole period.
28. (Q) Any advice regarding the diet?
    (A) Keep away from hog meats of any character, or beef. Use rather fish, fowl and lamb. Rarely, if ever, any of these fried. Have plenty of raw vegetables; not to become ("burned out on same"), but prepare them in different forms, having some character of these every day.
29. (Q) Is it indicated that I will make a success of my life?
    (A) It is within thine own hands, for thy body is indeed the Temple of the Living God. Treat it so.

BACKGROUND

1. "Was perfectly normal until discharged from the Army last August, a year ago...after being the rounds with the Army doctors...began to drag my right leg that June...they said it was paralysis...but I still have feeling in the leg, and no pain...though I did suffer pain at one time while in the Army hospital. My condition is medically termed multiple sclerosis."

1. 6/03/44 [3306]'s letter to EC: "Will you please change my address to the one at the heading of this letter? This is my home and where I grew up and I expect to stay here now.
   "I have had to stop the treatments that you suggested in your reading of last October 21, but I expect to start in on them again the 10th of this month.
   "I hope you are well and I also hope that you will change my address to the one at the head of this letter. This is where you will give me my Check reading that is due October 21st of this year.
   "I hope that you are well and I also hope that soon I'll hear from you..."
2. 8/23/44 [3306] requested that his second Physical Reading be changed to a Life Reading appointment.
3. 10/16/44 [3306]'s letter: "Please do not forget my Life Reading that is due this Saturday, October 21st, A.M. I will be found in our living room on the davenport at the above address all of the forenoon. I'm banking a lot on this reading for my life work, and I do hope that through it I'll be able to more or less find myself..."
