This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of November, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [3367], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3367].
2. As we find, there are disturbing conditions. These have existed for some time and are the effects of unbalanced conditions in the chemical forces of the body, and in the abilities of glandular forces to supply - through assimilation - elements necessary for the reproduction of certain portions of body forces. Because of certain pressures these are deflected, where activities for the muscular forces in the lower limbs are easily tired; that is, especially in the knees, the lower portion of the extremities, the feet. They are lacking in voluntary activity. This, combined with the lack of proper balance, and with those pressures existent in the lumbar and sacral actions, is gradually causing deterioration.
3. There has been some staying of the condition by the supply of certain elements that are helpful for the body, but the greater distresses continue.
4. Occasionally we find these give expression as to cause the lack of eliminations. For, the continued use of certain forms of laxatives has a tendency to carry a great deal of sediment in portions of the colon. This now begins to cause some disturbance.
5. We find that these conditions can be materially aided, if certain things we will suggest are adhered to rather severely. As yet there has not become the complications of any growing disturbances, but it borders very close to muscular deterioration. Hence the pains in the spine, the aching through the knees and the calf of the leg, the feet, the independent activity at times of the upper portion of the digestive system; indicating that the torpidity in the liver is much responsible for certain phases of this disturbance. But it is not multiple sclerosis as yet.
6. We would begin applying the hot Castor Oil Packs for one hour each day, three days in succession each week for a couple of weeks. Use these rather heavy, three to four thicknesses of flannel well saturated in the warm Castor Oil, of sufficient size to cover the liver area and the caecum, or the right side, almost to the central portion of the abdomen. Apply these directly to the skin, and use an oilcloth covering to prevent soiling of linens, and then apply heat - preferably an electric pad set at low heat and kept on for an hour. Then it may be removed, but for this body do cleanse thoroughly the whole area - after removing the Pack - with a sodawater solution. Put at least a tablespoonful of baking soda in a quart of warm water and use this to cleanse the area, rinsing with fresh, clean water. There will be accumulations that will arise from the activity of the Pack. That is why the soda is needed to produce a reaction of an alkaline nature in the body.
7. On the evening of the third day, after the third Pack each week, take internally a tablespoonful of Olive Oil. Each week repeat the whole procedure.
8. After the third series - that is, the third week - begin with osteopathic adjustments for the lumbar, the sacral, the coccyx, coordinating the 9th dorsal, the 6th, 5th, 4th and 3rd dorsal, the 5th, 6th and 7th cervical, the 3rd cervical, the 1st and 2nd cervical. This is in opposition, or just the opposite, to the method used by many osteopaths. But begin by adjustments and relaxing the sacral, the coccyx and the lower portion of the dorsals; then coordinate the other areas.
9. After each osteopathic treatment, have a very low form of electrical treatment.
10. Do have oil rubs for the limbs. It is not necessary that these be done by the osteopath (unless you like him very well) but do apply these oils in this combination, adding each ingredient in the order named:

    Russian White Oil, or Nujol or Usoline....4 ounces,
Peanut Oil................................2 ounces,
Oil of Pine Needles.....................1/2 ounce,
Oil of Sassafras Root...................1/4 ounce,
Lanolin (liquefied).....................1/2 ounce.

    These will separate, but shake them together - keeping them where it is warm - and pour a quantity in a saucer. Then, commencing with the feet, massage the limbs and knees and especially across the sacral area, the hips and the sciatic centers. Massage inside, as well as outside, coming around the femur and that portion where it joins with the area of the pelvis. Then extend this all the way up to the 9th dorsal, especially, and the rest of the backbone if so desired.
11. These should bring better conditions.
12. As a tonic for the body take KalDak; a heaping teaspoonful once each day dissolved first in a little hot water, then adding the glass full of milk and cream - not all cream, not all milk. The homogenized milk would be well.
13. Do this and we will find better conditions for this body.

15. (Q) Has the trouble I have had in the past with my lungs cleared satisfactorily?
    (A) With the use of these, especially the KalDak, we will aid in clearing same, provided you don't expose yourself or get cold feet by walking in the dew or the like.
16. (Q) What causes constipation and what can be done to overcome it?
    (A) The liver is a portion of the trouble, as indicated. The purifying of the system as we have indicated will help. Of course, it would be well to use colonics, scientifically given; not merely enemas but colonics. Clear the colon.
17. (Q) Is this constipation the cause of occasional bad breath?
    (A) This should be a part of the whole condition. Yes, it helps.
18. (Q) Can I at my age and in my condition have a baby without harm to the baby or myself?
    (A) Not very well. This would be hard on the body. Not because there is sterility at all, but it wouldn't be well for the offspring.

2. 10/31/43 Verifying her appointment she submitted questions: "What is the cause of the trouble with my back, below the waist line? Has the trouble I have had in the past with my lungs cleared satisfactorily? What is the cause of my constipation and what can I do to cure it? Psyllium seeds and mineral oil are the only help I have found. Is this constipation the cause of my occasional bad breath? What is the cause of the trouble with my knees? Can I at my age (43) and in my condition have a baby without harm to baby or myself?"

REPORTS

1. 12/07/43 Report to EC: "Thank you for my reading given Nov. 11th. The advice given seems to fit my case so well that I am sure I will receive the desired results.
   "Of the five ingredients called for in the oil rub I have only been able to obtain two. I am, however, writing to the makers of lanolin for liquefied lanolin, and a lady named Mrs. [3407] who was present at my reading has kindly offered to send me the peanut oil.
   "I am writing you on the chance that Oil of Sassafras Root might have been recommended at some time to some other member. If so could you give me the address of that member? I might be able to locate some, or perhaps you know where it can be obtained. They tell me oils are difficult to get.
   "Will it be possible for you to make an appointment for Mr. [...] my husband? He is gradually losing his hearing and the doctors give him no help. I believe if the cause is located in time the loss of hearing might be prevented.

2. 12/16/43 EC wrote Mrs. [3367]: "Replying to yours of the 7th, the liquid lanolin means merely that you have to heat the lanolin (you can buy it at any drug store) so it will mix with the other oils. We have heard of no one who has had trouble getting the Sassafras Oil; you can probably get it through Eimer & Amend via your druggist; they are wholesale and retail people who have been able to supply practically all the things suggested in the readings from time to time. Any of your friends in New York, I am sure, would be able to get this for you.
