This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 15th day of January, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [3395], Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

TEXT

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called, [3395].
3. In giving the interpretation of the records as we find them here, there is much from which to choose. These we choose with the desire and purpose that what may be given may be helpful for the entity; enabling it in some measures to better apply self in this material plane.
4. In analyzing the urges latent and manifested, we would minimize the faults, we would magnify the virtues.
5. While there are tendencies, much study and much application is being made by the entity of that which it has given and is the means of giving to others. This is well, and the entity has made and is making progress.
6. For unfoldment, know that this tendency for speaking of others' faults, others' failures, should be put away more and more, in self's dealings with others. Rather, as we have indicated, in every conversation, magnify the virtues of others, rather than their faults.
7. In the choice of attitude toward activities, may it ever continue to be in that vein which first prompted the policy of the publishing organization which the entity now heads - in choice; that is, that whereupon all may agree, THAT stress. Minimize rather than magnify disagreements in every organized group for the teaching of the holy word. For know that these in their true spiritual meaning are unchangeable. For God is one Lord, and the Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever.
8. There may be different channels of approach, yes. For not all peoples walked in the field when the wheat was ripe. Neither did all stand at the tomb when Lazarus was called forth. Neither were they all present when He walked on the water, nor when He fed the five thousand, nor when He hung on the Cross. Yet each experience answered, and does answer to something within each individual soul-entity. For each soul is a corpuscle in the body of God. And when differences arise in a body, where corpuscles are at variance to a common purpose for all, sin enters, and death by sin, to whatever may be that group, that organization, that is stressing differences rather than the coordinating channels through which all may come to the knowledge of God.
9. As to abilities of this entity indicated from astrological aspects, little would be in accordance with the ordinary term of these aspects - save that of which the entity has been warned. It is well as a talebearer of truth, but how terrible as a talebearer of strife.
10. In the urges, then keep in that way ever of being a channel through which the greater amount of good may come to all, being - as the Master Himself - all things to all people; tempted in all points like each soul and yet without offense to any.
11. This is as the Master lived. This is as He asked that we live. And as He gave, "The things I do ye may do, for I go to the Father, and what ye ask in my name, that I will do."
12. Thus may thy prayer ever be: "GOD, HERE AM I. USE ME, SEND ME WHERE I MAY BE THE CHANNEL OF GREATER SERVICE."
13. In these manners may the entity continue that which has prompted and brought into material manifestation the opportunity through the printed word that may still add to that which may be expressed, never save in His name. "For even he that giveth a cup of cold water in my name shall not lose his reward."
14. Let the message, the life, the mind, the purpose ever be - as experienced in some of the sojourns in the earth - in that way of giving a cup of water, of life, to the thirsty souls who seek to know, to hear, to interpret in their own problems the voice of Jesus, the consciousness within, of His presence abiding. Thus ye will fill a great purpose, ye will take advantage of the opportunities that are being offered thee in the position ye occupy in this present sojourn.
15. As for the urges arising in material associations, these ye have altered much also - but ye grow in grace, in knowledge, and in understanding. For as ye make application of the prayer indicated, ye grow in the knowledge and in the understanding even as He gave.
16. Thus in the varied experiences through the earth, while not all are given, these are parts of the present experience:
17. Before this the entity was in the land of the present nativity, during those periods of the activities in Fort Dearborn, now known as Chicago.
18. In the name Mary Payne, the entity was active as what would be today called a Salvation Army lassie. For the entity helped even in the face of those disturbances in the hearts of many who gathered in the brothels that brought about the urge of the natives, the French and the others to destroy that place. In song, in speech, the entity helped those even who were injured or who were incapacitated through drink or fights in that place.
19. The entity promised in itself that if it would ever have the opportunity, it would tell every son of the love of Jesus.
20. Ye have it now, today, in thy activities. There is no greater word than can be proclaimed in the simple message: Jesus, the Christ, careth for thee!
21. Let every individual hear and know that in their individual experience and they will find help. For ye sow the seed - God giveth the increase, in and through the spirit. For "If I go away, I will send the Holy Spirit and He will guide you into all righteousness." This is thy message in this period.
22. Before that the entity was in the Holy Land when the Master walked in the earth, when there was the entering into Bethsaida on that occasion when there were the discussions about who would be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. It was this entity's child who was set in the midst of the Disciples, whom Jesus took upon His knee and gave "Except ye become as little children, ye shall in no wise enter in." Unless you can be just as forgiving, unless you can find it just as easy to forget slights and slurs and things that would make afraid those who would judge others. For with what measure ye mete, it is measured to thee again. Even as He, the Master gave, the faults ye find in others are reflected in thine own mirror of life. And as He gave, "Cast the beam out of thine eye that ye may see to take the mote from thy brother's eye."
23. The name then was Armythar. The entity was ever, from those periods, a follower of the teachings of the Master, and aided others by the recording in its own terms, in its own language, the sayings and doings of the Master when there were those things given to others.
24. As the days of the fulfilling of His journey in the earth were ended, the entity was among those even who assisted Peter, John, and the entity prompted Matthew to write his gospel. Thus it has appealed ever to the entity as the most authentic of all the records in this particular experience.
25. In the applying of those teachings, of those abilities gained there, let that which would be given to others have the "feel" ever of the entity in its desire to be the channel of blessings to others.
26. Before that the entity was in the "city in the hills and the plains" and among those who were healed in those experiences.
27. The entity came from the land of Saad or of the Indian land.
28. Thus we find that dress, certain colors and tones have much of a "feel" in the experience of the entity. And if the entity will wear white mauve and shades of purple, it will ever be as a helpful vibration to the entity. For what is builded from any experience in the earth is as a habit in the present, having that same character of influence upon an individual's ability towards things and conditions; not having power within themselves, but as that which has been builded by the entity.
29. There the entity aided in the teachings of that teacher in the experience, which in their basic principle here: Just being kind one to another, showing brotherly love, as ye would have others do to thee if circumstances were reversed.
30. The name then was Sarhab.
31. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land during those periods when there were the establishings of the homes following the experience of Ra-Ta, the teacher.
32. The entity aided those coming into power as the directors of the temperings in the Temples, and the entity stressed the great families - so that in many another land where emissaries were sent to give the teachings, large families came to indicate blessings from the Creator.
33. This is still a portion of the entity innately, as an example.
34. The name then was Tent-orn.
35. As to the abilities of the entity: As indicated, the entity at times oft becomes a law unto itself, not attempting to indicate to others and yet its life and purpose is directing others.
36. Keep in that faith as of the first lesson, become as a little child, if ye will be able to be of greater service to others.

38. (Q) Is the ill health which I have been experiencing the past years the result of mistakes of a past life or is it due to something amiss in this present life?
    (A) Both. For there is the law of the material, there is the law of the mental, there is the law of the spiritual. That brought into materiality is first conceived in spirit. Hence as we have indicated, all illness is sin; not necessarily of the moment, as man counts time, but as a part of the whole experience. For God has not purposed or willed that any soul should perish, but purgeth everyone by illness, by prosperity, by hardships, by those things needed, in order to meet self - but in Him, by faith and works, are ye made every whit whole.
39. (Q) What special direction should the remainder of my life take in its activities in order to make it count for most in the service of others?
    (A) As has been outlined here. Do that.
40. (Q) Any suggestions as to how I could help the [...] Publishing Company improve its methods of character building for the Sunday School?
    (A) As indicated, don't let pass unnoticed that which is to be a principle. Not that the whole is to follow on that, yet so imbibe others who are the correctors of notes, the teachings, as ye found in thy first lesson from the Master. And may it ever be shot through with that principle, not how little, but how much may I do in service to Him.

1. 2/25/44 Letter: "I hasten to let you know that my Life Reading came yesterday forwarded from... Thank you so much. I am simply overcome with its revelations, particularly in regard to my associations with the Master. And the advice was full of help and inspiration. I hope and pray that we may be able to live up to it...
   "My grateful appreciation for the good advice and encouragement you have given us [3395] and daughter [3399]. I am enclosing check toward sponsorship of your great work. May God constantly bless and give you strength."
2. 4/01/44 [3395]'s letter:
   Dear Mr. Cayce;
   I was so sorry to hear that you had been so ill. I am wondering whether you should attempt to give me the mental and Spiritual Reading for which I am scheduled April 17th. If you are not well and if it would help you to postpone this reading until later on please do, for your health is of paramount importance and I shall gladly wait if necessary - or if someone else needs immediate help - for eager as I am to hear more something tells me that this is something I CAN do to put my desire to help others into practice.
   I was so very thrilled about my Life Reading and was so very much interested in the period of Jesus' life. That seemed to bring Him nearer and make it seem more real and personal. I have kept it all with me so much of the time since. How I long to hear more of the details of that connection and of the work with the disciples and particularly with Matthew - the thought of having "prompted Matthew to write his gospel" was so overpowering I have scarcely been able to get my breath since. When you do give me my Mental and Spiritual Reading I wonder if the sources from which these come are near enough to bring in something more of this period along with the other. I know so little about these things that I do not know what questions I should ask for this reading, so please use your judgement and let it be what you think will help me to live this life the very best.
   And please be sure to postpone the reading if that will help in any way.
