TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes. As we find, there are disturbing conditions that are very definite in this body. These are from pressures that exist in the centers along the cerebrospinal system that deal more directly with organs of pelvis and the reflexes to organs of the sensory system; coccyx end of the spine, 4th lumbar, 9th dorsal, 5th and 6th dorsal, 3rd cervical. These are the specific centers where there are aggravations created, causing anxieties; nervous exhaustion, so that any overtaxing physically or mentally upsets the body until all the organs in their functionings rebel, the digestive system, the eliminating system, all become involved.
3. As we find, we would administer the short wave electricity for two or three treatments; the electrotherapist, then, that will give the short wave - not strong but mild. Or, better still, apply the Wet Cell Appliance for twenty minutes each day as the Radio-Active Appliance is ordinarily used - with attachments to the opposite extremities of the body.
4. After this has been given for fifteen days, begin with a gentle massage - a Swedish massage would be best.
5. Then have suggestive therapeutics, or hypnosis. These applications indicated will prepare the body so that suggestion may be taken from one such as Slater [Ralph Slater, M.D., psychiatrist-hypnotist.] in New York City.
6. These will bring corrective forces if the better conditions are kept in the mental attitude of the body.
7. Ready for questions.
8. (Q) What can I best do with my life while waiting for health?
   (A) Prepare for the things as just given, and these will bring better conditions for the body. As to the mental attitude while the body is recuperating, study to show thyself approved unto whatever is thy ideal - and let it be creative, if thy life would be made worthwhile.
9. We are through with this Reading.

   Two copies to Self
   Copy to Ass'n file
   Two Miss Goodall for indexing
(See extra sheet of directions [which was enclosed] to be sent to Mr. A. M. Godfrey, 2709 Lafayette Blvd., Norfolk, Virginia, for preparing the Appliance to be used in your individual case. Also article explaining theory of this Appliance.
If you have difficulty getting started with these treatments, we would suggest that you get in touch with an osteopath in Chicago, who is somewhat familiar with our work: Dr. D. A. Musselman, 58 East Washington St., Chicago, Ill. He will either give you these treatments himself or refer you to someone who will be able to do so.)

Mr. Edgar Cayce Association for Research and Enlightenment Virginia Beach, Virginia
   My dear Mr. Cayce:
In reply to your letter of September 25th as to my whereabouts about December 1st to 15th [10th], I will be at my home, ..., Ill.
The questions that I want answered pertaining to my condition are as follows:
Is the condition physiological or psychological? If it is emotional what are the set of emotions or problem involved? How can I break the vicious cycle? Why can I not submit to hypnosis? Is there a doctor in the United States that can help me? What steps should be taken to overcome my condition? What can I do with my life waiting for health? If my condition can not be cured please do not inform me.
I trust that you will have questions of your own to be answered and that the reading will be successful.
   Sincerely yours, [3397]

REPORTS

1. 12/13/43 [3397]'s letter:
Mr. Edgar Cayce Arctic Crescent Virginia Beach, Virginia
   My dear Mr. Cayce:
Received the diagnosis on my case and can not understand treatment. How many short wave electrical treatments are required? How soon after these treatments should suggestive treatments take place? Why do I need suggestive or hypnotic treatment? Will hypnotist know what should be done? These questions are very important and I would greatly appreciate them being answered soon so treatment can be started.
   Thanking you kindly.
   Sincerely yours, [3397]
2. 12/22/43 EC's letter:
   Miss [3397] ..., Ill.
   Dear Miss [3397]:
Replying to yours of the 13th, the Doctor should be able to help you with these treatments. The short wave treatments should require something like 2 or 3 weeks, however he can tell you more about this. Suggestive treatment should be made about a week after these have been given. These you could take only about a week. I am sure you can find a good hypnotist there in Chicago, who will know what is to be done in regard to the suggestive or hypnotic treatment.
If you don't find anyone, call my friend, Dr. Robert Saxmann; his name is listed in the phone book.
Hoping to hear from you, and that we may be of a real service, I am,
   Sincerely, Edgar Cayce [EC/c]
