This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 6th day of December, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [3418], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. Helen Storey.

TEXT

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane; giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Not a pretty day, was it? - '40 - changes - yes - '36 - yes, disappointments, - '28 - changes around.
3. Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [3418].
4. In giving the interpretation of the records as we find them, there is much that might be said for the abilities as well as some of the faults, and much for the virtues. But these we choose from same with the desire and purpose that this may be a helpful experience for the entity, enabling the entity to better fulfil the purposes for which the entity chose to enter this particular period in activity physically.
5. If the chart of life would be drawn, this would present rather the very unusual emblems:
6. In the center put the brush of the fox tail, in its colors.
7. On the upper left side put a little home. This should be white with a little fence about it. No figures but smoke and light in the house, white with green shutters.
8. Upon the right side put the entrance as might be an interpretation of the Temple Beautiful, but with a dancing girl entering same.
9. This design we would make square, not a circle; that is the whole picture would be a square outline, for the entity is what would be called a square-shooter all the way through.
10. In the left corner put that to indicate the entrance to the "city in the hills and the plains", as a caravan in the distance entering same, or as a view from the entrance of the "city in the hills and the plains" to the caravan coming over the plains.
11. Upon the right side put the Cross in the distance - of course, this would mean three of them - the figures upon same, and the face of Peter as he fled from or stood afar off, awe upon his face. All of these would be in color.
12. The fox brush or the tail, and no other portion of it, would indicate the weakness in self, being prone to feel sorry for self, tending to make a martyr of itself. Don't do it! Remember the home. Remember the temple and the abilities. And go to a dance a whole lot more than you do! Remember also the lessons of love in the "city in the hills and the plains", and then saving grace in the offering of Himself on the Cross for all.
13. Then never be affrightened at worry, disappointments, but meet them all in those purposes that prompted Him to give Himself for the world.
14. In analyzing the urges latent and manifested that are indicated in the emblems, that seem so foreign one to another - these urges are so at variance at times in the body, in the mind of this entity. And these symbols should remind the entity. Don't feel sorry for self. Know that God is not a respecter of persons, but has a job, yes a work for thee to do in the earth. Build the home, train the young. Aid those who are ill, remembering that all should be done in the Christ-Spirit.
15. Be glad, then, to teach Sunday School. Take the class - don't try to get out of it.
16. In analyzing these urges, we find Uranus, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus all a part of the entity's urges. The extremes, then. How happy the entity may be, and yet an unkind word or a rough saying from someone may change the whole day! Yet the entity innately takes the part of those oppressed most, whether it be friend or acquaintance or just someone the entity knows about. As would be said in very slang manner, the entity is ever ready to "go to bat" for somebody that's been abused, and yet feels itself abused oft. The entity likes to think of itself as being a martyr. Remember He has been the martyr for thee. Ye are to glory in thy strength and in thy abilities, that His may be one day glorified in the earth. He that is the martyr without a purpose is ashamed of self and might well be. For the glory must be in the Cross.
17. As to the appearances in the earth, these as may be indicated are quite varied and bring those abilities and urges latent and manifested.
18. Before this the entity was in the land of the present nativity, during the early settlings about Jamestown, Williamstown, Yorktown.
19. The entity was among those peoples not the very earliest but those that formed groups, that began political activities, that began cliques of various groups.
20. Then in the name Ethel Vance, the entity - because there was a disappointment - had a temptation in the experience. Hence in the present it is rather timid at times and yet when the entity lets itself go and is its real self, all stop to listen. For the entity has accomplished much and may accomplish much in this experience - either as an entertainer, as an instructor, as a teacher, as a home builder. These may be the channels, and as indicated go to a dance often - ye will like it - it will bring much of real joy from the music and rhythm that is a part of thy experience from another sojourn, as we shall see.
21. Before that the entity was in the Holy Land, during those periods when thee were disappointments because the Son of man, the Savior, the Master, the Teacher had been crucified.
22. The entity while young in years took on much of those doubts and fears that arose in the hearts of people with whom the entity was associated. Yet, through the teachings of those close in the household of Peter, as well as the friends of the nephew of Peter (Mark), the entity came to know much of the beauty and the love and the joy that comes with finding peace in the knowledge of the risen Lord. For in same He becomes the resurrection, the symbol of life, and the fulfilling of that as He gave, "I came that ye might have life and that more abundant." What can be more abundant than more experiences of life in the earth, and these the manifestations through which opportunities of body, mind and soul may express self, in giving glory and praise ever to the sources of life, light and truth.
23. The name then was Rehbal.
24. Before that the entity was in the "city in the hills and the plains", among those groups in the caravans that went as entertainers from one spot to another. Coming in contact with the activities gradually builded in the "city in the hills and plains", the entity - being of those peoples of the lowlands of Saad or India, and knowing much of those activities in Egypt, brought into that experience the activities as a helper in nursing, caring for those who had been ill, aged, the infirm.
25. Thus we find the abilities of the entity in the present to bring - by a word, by a smile, by its manner - comfort and joy to those that are ill or bereaved.
26. Being of the Indian land, the entity is still interested in things of that nature. These become thoughts at times to the entity. But keep rather the faith as indicated.
27. The name then was Saaide.
28. Before that the entity was in the land now known as Egypt, in the activities in the Temple Beautiful, among those that acted in the capacity that in the music and the dance portrayed to others the workings of the mind, or of the emotions that arise from bestial desires to the appreciation of music in all its beauty, harmony, rhythm, that it brings - hope, desire, anxiety, all of those emotions that are of the mental, the building self of body, the mind and soul.
29. These the entity expressed, and in the present the entity may enjoy dancing, enjoy companionship of same. But don't let the dancing bring disappointments because of the littleness of some that enjoy same for the emotion, and not for the music and beauty of same.
30. The name then was El-tekan.
31. As to the abilities of the entity:
32. Keep the faith in self. Keep the faith in purpose and ideal. Keep these in the spiritual ways.
33. Build the home, but enjoy life in the building of same.
34. Ready for questions.
35. (Q) For what special purpose did I come into this experience at this time and how may I better fulfil that purpose?
    (A) Read what has been given as to what the ideal of each should be, and how it came into experience for this entity.
36. (Q) For what purpose did I choose my parents and am I fulfilling that purpose?
    (A) These were as a channel only for this entity.
37. (Q) Am I doing the work that I am best fitted to do, if not how may I get into that work?
    (A) As indicated, build the home. How get into it? Get married!
38. (Q) In what experiences and what has been my relationship to the following individuals: [...], last address, U.S.S. ... in the Pacific. I am engaged to marry this James [...].
    (A) Better marry him! For here we find that in the experience before this there were questionings, and ye are questioning again. In the "city in the hills" you worked close together. In Egypt ye were as helpers one for another. Meet the problems, but they will bring the greater joy in this association.
39. (Q) [...], Canal Zone?
    (A) One with whom you were associated in the "city in the Hills". Not very good either.
40. (Q) Alice [...], ..., Virginia?
    (A) We don't find Alice [...].
41. Keep in that way for body building, mind expression, soul growth.
42. We are through for the present.
