11/25/43 Grandmother's letter:
"These are the questions for the reading of [
3438]
December 1, 10:30 - 11:30 EWT. But first, I want you to know
that your work has opened up a whole new scope on life, not
only for me, but others. My family and my friends have set
aside in each day a definite time in which we join in
prayerful meditation. We know our prayers will be answered.
May God bless you.
"[
3438] will be at my home, ..., Penna., at this appointed
time. Prior to last August, [
3438] was a healthy, normal
child. In a period of 3 or 4 weeks, we noticed him becoming
irritable, extremely nervous short of patience and nasty.
Then, these attacks began, very very slight at first &
gradually getting worse, although none lasted longer than a
minute. His eyes would become expressionless, head turning
to the right and his right arm jerking. He is not
unconscious, although his mind is sluggish and response slow.
He may suffer innumerable attacks in one day, & weeks go by
without any. He has been taking sedatives for four months."
Questions:
1. Are these attacks a result of some injury?
2. Shall we discontinue giving him the sedative when we start
your treatment or shall we gradually take it from him?
3. Should he be circumcised and have his tonsils removed?
4. Is it all right to give him an enema, as we've done, when
he needs it?
REPORTS
7/28/60 Dr. Walter N. Pahnke's letter:
"I need your help in carrying out a research project in which
I am engaged. I am examining the Edgar Cayce records in an
attempt to determine common patterns in the forms of
treatments recorded in certain diseases. I am trying to
discover the practical value of these treatments in the cases
for which the readings were given.
"One of the diseases I am studying is epilepsy. I would
appreciate a brief follow-up report from you on the results
you got from your own personal reading. I would like to know
(1) if you thought the description in your reading fitted
your case, (2) for how long and (3) to what extent you
followed the treatment and (4) what results were obtained.
Please be frank. If you thought the readings were inaccurate
or if after an honest and careful trial you noted no
improvement, I would like to know this just as much as if you
had a complete cure. Most important of all, are you still
suffering from convulsions in any form? Also, what has been
the exact medical diagnosis of your condition by doctors?
"You may be certain that your answer and your original
reading and correspondence will be kept strictly confidential
in my analysis of the material."
Sincerely yours, Walter N. Pahnke, M.D.
[GD's note: No reply.]
7/60 Dr. Pahnke's summary: Case [
