BACKGROUND
9/29/43 [
3483]'s letter: "Sometime ago I read an article in
the magazine CORONET on the wonderful work that you have been
doing. I contacted my father in Virginia Beach to see you
about my case. He made an appointment then and made it for
Dec. 29th at 3:30-4:30 P.M. You suggested that I read THERE
IS A RIVER. I have finished the book and consider it the
best book that I have ever read. It is a book that one could
re-read...
"My father may not have explained my case. Briefly my case
is this: Two years ago in Oct. an operation was made on my
right foot and leg. The foot was known as a drop foot,
caused from Infantile Paralysis. After the cast was removed
it left large pits or holes in my foot which haven't
developed fully back to normal. Also the right leg hasn't
developed much at all. The incision on the right side has a
tendency to come up like a boil and burst. Mr. Cayce, for
two years I have done everything within my power for this
condition but first one thing and another develops.
"After reading the article in 'Coronet' and the book by
Sugrue, they have given me much hope. Whatever your
suggestion might be, I would appreciate it greatly."
REPORTS
7/20/44 Miss [

physical reading. As yet nothing much has been done about
it, so much has happened that it has been impossible to carry
out the work. My battery should be here by the time my
vacation has been completed. I feel assured my condition
with your help will be back to normal. As soon as I start
with my battery I shall let you know the results.
"Truthfully, with my life reading, I know it can be so
much... [She verified her appointment for July 31st and
submitted questions.]
"The young lady in the [your] office suggested that any
questions I might like to know could be asked. At present I
really don't know myself. There are some puzzling solutions.
1. Will the opportunity offered to me in the near future
prove successful? Have I chosen the right vocation in life
[secretary]? 2. We all have our ideals of marriage. Shall
I meet my future husband? Please tell me something of this.
3. Am I living in the right place or should I live
elsewhere...
"Thank you once again for your cooperation." [

7/26/44 Miss [
3483] was given another appointment for her
life reading due to the fact that Mr. Cayce had to go away
for a rest and all appointments - already way ahead - had to
be extended. When Edgar Cayce died on
1/03/45 nearly two
years of appointments were unfulfilled.
