6/03/74 [
3545]'s letter to A.R.E.:
"...Along with my application for membership, I am writing
you this update.
"After one or two attempts at getting into the field
indicated by my Life Reading, many years ago (I am now almost
54), I did nothing further about it; so I cannot tell you
one way or another whether that would have been the right
thing for me. I can only say that my present occupation
(bookkeeper) is not congenial and that I have probably
been vocationally maladjusted all my life.
"My interest in Edgar Cayce's work led me, over the years,
into many phases of reading, study and belief in several
fields of occult, religious and metaphysical teachings. For
several years I was a member of the Anthroposophical Society
(based on Rudolf Steiner's work). Now all of that has ended
and I am presently attracted only to the teachings of J.
Krishnamurti.
"I got married in 1959 and have a son, aged 13, in junior
high.
"That brings me to why I am again interested in A.R.E.
membership. Purely selfish, I'm afraid. You see, my wife
has epilepsy and it has not responded fully to orthodox
medical treatment. The thought occurred to me that we ought
to look into whatever Edgar Cayce gave on that subject.
"I see in the Circulating File Index you so kindly sent
me that this disease is included, along with commentaries
by doctors. To narrow it further, I would add that my
wife has the 'petit mal' or psychomotor type of epilepsy
as distinguished from the 'grand mal' or falling type.
May I also request that you please send us the names of
cooperating doctors in this area...
"I continue to admire the purpose and approach of your
organization, as stated in its title, and the apparent
freedom from dogma and forever fixed beliefs. Nice to
be with you again..."
