11/15/43 Mother's letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce,
I finally obtained the book "There is a River" from State
Library in Harrisburg. I have not finished it, but am
encouraged so much by what I have already read, that it has
prompted me to write you again to see if you will please
give my little girl, [
3571], a reading SOON.
I have spoken to my physician here in ... about you. I feel
he will help us.
My only hope is you will consent to a reading soon, as she
is still retarding and to wait for an appointment 12 months
from now may be too late.
I have had her to two hospitals since last Dec. - for
observation & a diagnosis - but with no results. One was
Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh & the other, John Hopkins,
Baltimore. Then I read about you, and it seems you can, and
will, be able to tell me what is wrong or what can be done
for her.
Most naturally, being her mother, I have been heart broken
over her condition; and am so anxious to see her talking
and being normal again.
Respectfully, Mrs. [...]

Dear Mr. Cayce:
Am submitting the following questions for my daughter's
reading Dec 29, '43, 3:30 to 4:30 P.M.
1. What is the cause of her retarding in speech and
interests?
2. Can her speech and interests be restored to normal? If
so, by what procedure?
3. Is she deaf, or partially deaf?
4. What can be done for her nervousness?
My only hope is for a recovery form this retarding and my
hope, prayers, and faith are with you for a diagnosis and
cure.
Respectfully, Mrs. [...]

Dear Mrs. [...]
We undertook to get the Reading for [
3571] a few days ago
at the regular appointment and for some reason were unable
to get it. I don't know why it happened, but I am sorry
about all this delay. We are trying to work this in as soon
as possible. We will try this again on the morning of
January 18th, 10:30 to 11:30 EWT.
Please let us hear from you and I do hope that we will be
able to get it this time and may be able to help. Thanking
you, I am,
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce

Dear Mr. Cayce:
My daughter, [
3571] has had ten (10) treatments
(osteopathic), doing as "reading", for her suggested. So
far, there is little, if any, improvement.
Am enclosing a check ($10.00) for a check reading. Will
continue treatments, as I still have faith in your work.
But thought, perhaps, a "check-reading" might be helpful.
Hoping to hear from you soon, I am,
Respectfully yours, Mrs. [...]
