8/08/44 Report on Physical Condition 1936-1944 submitted by
[
3626]:
"This condition was first noticed about 8 years ago and began
with a numb feeling and slight weakness in calf of left leg.
As there was no pain, I paid little attention to it. After
it seemed to grow weaker in about 6 months - went to family
physician for thorough examination. He stated nothing wrong
- may be a nerve condition, and proceeded to prescribe a
nerve tonic which I took for
3-4 months and which did not
help. From that time I have consulted a number of doctors
and have religiously carried out their instructions which
have been of no benefit. (All have had at least 6 month's
trial.) [These are all different doctors.]
"DOCTOR'S REPORT: Poison in system caused by 7 dead teeth
which were extracted & medicine prescribed to remove poison
from system. (No results)
"DOCTOR'S REPORT: Think it comes from spine - not equipped
to treat. Will recommend a doctor who is. Before this was
taken care of, Dr. #3 passed away.
"DOCTOR #4: Osteopath - run-down condition, poor circulation
(1 yr.).
"DOCTOR'S REPORT: Chiropractor - ?
"DOCTOR'S REPORT: Anemia & low blood pressure - treatments:
diathermy & electrical vibrator.
"DOCTOR'S REPORT: Nerve condition. General health good.
Prescribed vitamin B (Thiamin) tablets, Brewer's yeast
- liver extract capsules. (Carried this out for about 2
years.)
"DOCTOR'S REPORT: Multiple Sclerosis - no known cure or
cause.
"DOCTOR'S REPORT: Multiple Sclerosis of spinal cord, no
known cure or cause.
"DOCTOR'S REPORT: Multiple Sclerosis - no cure.
"CAYCE READING: No results so far. I have abided by
instructions contained in reading as to appliance treatments,
daily massage, diet for 3 months when they were discontinued
for the reason of coming to Va. Beach a/c sister's work.
"MY COMMENTS: I have never had any serious sickness or
operation. Appetite good. Never a pain or ache of any kind.
Plenty sleep. Have held responsible position with Finance
Co. for 12 years until 2 years ago when I could no longer
carry on as this condition has very gradually progressed to
its present stage and has extended over my whole body,
leaving me in a state of exhaustion. It has so weakened my
system that my bowels will not move without a laxative and I
am unable to retain my urine, which I pass frequently. I'm
convinced the trouble is in my spine as at times I can
hardly sit up straight. The extreme hot weather leaves
me powerless and I can feel any change of weather.
"Your reading has been the only ray of hope as you seemed
to see my trouble, and I am confident things will soon begin
to clear up. Any further information will be sent you if
necessary.
"The entire left side of my body is affected more than the
right.
"I have also taken hot mineral baths for 1 month daily at
Dillsboro, Ind. No result.
"Sitting on the Beach, letting the waves wash up against my
back is the only thing that has given me a little pick up,
but does not last long. I do this 1st thing each morning, as
that is the only time of day I'm able to get to water. I'm
exhausted by the least effort to use my legs and must lie
down or sit the rest of the day."
8/23/44 GD's letter to [
3626]:
"It is with deepest regret that I must tell you that we were
unable to get your Check reading today, due to Mr. Cayce's
illness. Mr. Cayce has been unable to work for over a month
and during this time there have been many cancellations.
"I am very sorry that your appointment comes among those to
be cancelled.
"We are very concerned over Mr. Cayce's indisposition, and
know of no gentle way of bringing such news to those who
look forward to his help.
"At present we can only tell you that Mr. Cayce will, as soon
as possible, be glad to give you another appointment, but ask
you to bear in mind that unless his health permits we will
again be forced to cancel the appointment.
"We would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your
case report. It will be extremely helpful to our research
work as well as an aid in formulating the questions you have
presented."
10/12/44 GD's note to [
3626]:
"Mr. Godfrey asked me to return the enclosed $10 money order
to you, as he did not know how to get in touch with you. It
seems that it is for an Appliance you did not get.
"I am glad to say that Mr. Cayce is steadily improving,
though it seems awfully slow. We hope that he will within
the next few weeks, at least, be able to return home and
finish his course of treatments here..."
12/19/44 [
3626]'s letter to GD:
"Thank you for your letter and check. I did not call for the
Appliance as we are very unsettled and I am very discouraged.
We have moved 4 times while here and living expenses for
transients are terrific.
"While at home, I followed my reading religiously every day
for 3 months with a daily massage at $3 per day which my
sisters paid for me. No results were obtained. Down here
- they can not undertake any additional expense.
"Since I cannot get my recheck physical reading for 5
more months & since I cannot follow the instructions in my
original reading, I dropped the whole matter as I am unable
to help myself.
"I'm very glad that Mr. Cayce is improving and hope that he
will soon be home and well.
"Best wishes for a happy holiday season..."
