This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 15th day of January, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - [3645], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

TEXT

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [3645].
3. In interpreting the records here, these we find are influenced not only from the astrological but the material sojourns also.
4. Then, in choosing that which would be indicated here for the entity, these we give with the desire and purpose that this information may be a helpful influence for the entity; enabling the entity to a little bit better, a little bit truer, a little bit surer, fulfill those purposes for which it entered this sojourn.
5. For the entity came not merely by chance. For, the earth is a causation world, for in the earth, cause and effect are as the natural law. And as each soul enters this material plane, it is to meet or to give those lessons or truths that others, too, may gain the more knowledge of the purpose for which each soul enters. For, did the Master Jesus come by chance? Or was it not according to the preparation made from the very foundations of the world? For as another has indicated, "Without Him there was not anything made that was made."
6. Then ye, as a soul-entity, in the beginning sought companionship with God; losing that companionship by choice of that which would satisfy or gratify a material desire only. Thus, ye, as the Master, enter again and again, ye come to fulfill the law, the law that brought thy soul into being to be one with Him.
7. Hence at this particular period when there are changes to be wrought, ye have work to do. For ye have been made conscious of the fact that all have fallen short of their duty, and that if they would bring the earth to be a place in which even their own offspring would live, they must learn to search for their God. And they must put away those gods of the Sidonians, those gods of the heathen, gods of self, gods of gratifying of flesh; and crucifying the flesh - in mind, in body, in spirit - show thyself worthy of being given the opportunity to express thyself to others.
8. As to urges latent and manifested from sojourns in the earth, as well as those interims between - so long as an entity enters into this solar system of urges, it is subject to the laws thereof. Then:
9. In Mercury we find the high mental ability, in Venus love, beauty, harmony, music, joy. We find in Mars, travel, as well as anger - and a lot of this has been in thine experience and will yet be. Poor indeed is he who does not ever show anger, but worse indeed is he who cannot control it in himself. And there most fail. Though often those who flare up quickly, also forgive quickly - if they remain as little children asking, seeking, living "Guide Thou me, O God, in the steps I take and in the words I say day by day."
10. Also in Jupiter we find the universal consciousness that is a part of the entity's whole being. Let that love be without dissimilation. For who is the father, the mother, the brother? He that doeth the will of the Father, he may be thy brother, if ye love the coming of the Lord.
11. As to the urges arising from sojourns in the earth, these we find quite varied:
12. Before this the entity was in the land of the present nativity, when there were those journeyings of individuals and groups to the lands from which strangers came.
13. The entity was among those from the groups chosen in Jamestown Island to be sent to the Court in England.
14. Thus the entity journeyed hither and longed for knowledge of that which was of old. Hence the entity finds in the present that things old and not things new, things that have been tried and things that are true, things and people having a background of truism in their activities are those that appeal to the entity. This arises from a search for wisdom among others. Yet know, dear heart, all wisdom lyeth within thine own self, and from the beginning thou art conscious of the happenings in the earth. For as He has given, take the Lord into thy consciousness, He may bring to thee the awareness of that which has been since the world began. For thou are a part of same. Just as in thine own experience in the present, ye may so train thy offspring that they may contribute to the welfare of generations to come.
15. The name then was Scharm.
16. Before that the entity was in the Holy Land when there were those breakings up in the periods when the land was being sacked by the Chaldeans and Persians.
17. The entity was among those groups who escaped in the ships that settled in portions of the English land near what is now Salisbury, and there builded those altars that were to represent the dedications of individuals to a service of a living God. [See 3645-1, Par. R5.] [Stonehenge?]
18. Thus the entity aided in giving the records and teachings that may help others in the present, in giving to others that helping hand - who may be as a record keeper.
19. The name them was Mayra.
20. Before that the entity was in the Holy Land, when there were those journeyings of the peoples from Egypt into the Holy Land.
21. The entity was among those of the Canaanites who were the soothesayers. Thus as the entity applied itself, it caused its own people to make agreements with the leader entering into the land.
22. There the entity became associated with the Israelites, and grew to understand and to accept the teachings of Joshua, that had been handed through him to Moses the lawgiver. For Joshua was the interpreter through whom the message was given to Israel.
23. In the experience the entity gained. In the present it finds its abilities, as it were, to "outgeneral" others, though they may be of other thought or of other climes.
24. Remember, as ye measure to others, it may be measured to thee.
25. The name then was Shalmarga.
26. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land when there were those peoples from Atlantis who had come into the land.
27. The entity was the third Atlantean child born in Egypt. Thus to many of the natives, to many of those who had followed the teachings of Ra-Ta, the entity was a curiosity. For it was perfect in body, in form, as well as in color.
28. In the present experience, few born in the earth are more perfect in form and figure than the entity. Use it, don't abuse these gifts from the divine that have been expressed in self. Carry that thought through to its end.
29. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, that to which it may attain and how:
30. As indicated, the entity has come in the experiences when there are changes being wrought. It may be considered oft as one who takes advantage of experiences, and yet the entity in purpose, in its ideals latent within self, has made the choice as of one being sent.
31. Be thou, then ever in this experience a channel of blessings and of helpfulness to others.

   I have written a little note to your son and I hope he can get in touch with me. I am sure it would be most enlightening to have him go over the Readings with me.
   I am now in Bristol with an exhibition called "AMERICA MARCHES WITH THE UNITED NATIONS" as representative of the O.W.I., guide and lecturer on America and general ambassadress of good will. The British are so responsive. It is a job I love and take most seriously. The only drawback is that I have to be away from my little family for a fortnight at a time.
