This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 18th day of March, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [3704], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., via mother-in-law, Mrs. [2800].

TEXT

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes - what an unusual experience for an entity in the earth!
3. Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [3704].
4. In giving the interpretations of the records these we choose with the desire that this information may prove a helpful experience for the entity, enabling the entity to better fulfill those purposes for which it entered this sojourn.
5. As the entity finds, it is attracted to and attracts many an individual of the opposite sex. This at times, unless the entity has set its own ideal or idea of metes and bounds, may bring disturbing conditions to the entity. These may be used and not abused, such that the entity may become a contributing factor to the betterment of all whom the entity may meet. If the ideals and purposes are turned to creative forces, to that way of being ever constructive in its relationships and activities with others, as to find that which is the better part, that which is creative or constructive in the mind and activity of an associate or companion, and these are stressed, then the entity may be helpful. When these are turned in that way of being possessive or destructive, these should be discarded by the entity without question. Without such the entity will find itself continually pulled between two ways. Remember there is a way that seemeth right to a man but the end thereof is death. Possessiveness, yes; selfishness, yes; anxieties in which there may be brought jealousy and hate - such activities bring destruction. Those that are creative bring the better forces.
6. In Mercury, Mars, Venus and Jupiter we find the urges latent and manifested. Thus one alert, one attractive, one who may control many another; one who may direct. Thus as the entity finds itself in its relationships to others, be ever in that way of bringing creative influences; that is, in that way of adding line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little, there a little - for good; for that which is helpful, for that which will make for better conditions.
7. Appeal to the better natures of individuals, then, and we will find that as such influences are applied the Mercurian judgment will not be amiss - and there will be brought greater harmonies in the experience of the entity.
8. We find in Jupiter, as well as in Venus that the entity may be a contributing factor to the helpfulness of others in whatever direction the application is made, whether for the greater morale building in those who would serve a cause or whether in contributing the helps and the emotions toward welfare work of any nature - whether in Red Cross or in activities associated with nursing or with entertaining those who are disabled, those who have lost their hold. For the entity can and does, in its very nature, create an environment that is open - for question, yes, but used or applied in a creative or helpful manner may contribute much to the helpfulness of others.
9. As to the appearances of the entity in the earth, these have been many. Not all will be indicated here, just those that would be helpful in the application of self in relationship to those present problems.
10. Before this the entity was in the earth during the reconstruction period following the war between the States. The entity then was in Pennsylvania, as a teacher, as one contributing to the education and to the welfare of the young; then in the name Lydia Scott.
11. These were periods of disturbance and distress, periods when there were the needs for putting down those conditions that gradually arose as means of vengeance, those conditions that would keep down the relationships where prejudices were indicated.
12. These are the same things the entity should cultivate in the present. They may be added to or taken from, according to the application of self in the present.
13. Do away with prejudices, yes, if there would be the creative activity. Do keep the prejudices where the doing away with such would corrupt the morality in any sense or purpose in the relationships of an experience.
14. Before that the entity was in the English land during those periods of reconstruction from the gathering of groups for the preservation of an ideal - yet the homes of many were forgotten.
15. The entity swore vengeance. Hence the entity needs to be mindful of itself in regard to such conditions in the present; holding to those things that are ideal and not to prejudices that would cause the entity to attempt in any manner to get even. For "Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord." Then let thy mind, thy body and thy purposes be in those directions rather than in getting even with anyone. This ye cannot do. For remember that ye sow, ye must also reap. God is not mocked by any means, and thy body is indeed the temple of the living God. Treat it as such, in body, in mind, in soul.
16. Before that the entity was in the Roman land during those early periods when there were questionings of those who had accepted in body and in purpose those tenets of the Nazarene when these were being presented in the Roman land.
17. The entity was acquainted with and questioned purposes of same. These have their experience, their relationship to the entity's urges in these directions in the present.
18. There are the abilities of the entity to hold to an ideal and yet the body and the emotions of the body may cause a variation such that there is the questioning of self.
19. The name then was Shale Zah.
20. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land among those who came from Atlantis; born in Egypt but of the Atlantean peoples; thus with those tenets innate within self of being set aside for definite purposes, being a little bit better.
21. Yet, remember, it is these prejudices that are to be watched within self.
22. The name then was Irshmar.
23. As to the abilities of the entity:
24. The entity may excel in any activity in which there is the helpfulness to groups or crowds, anything pertaining to welfare work of any nature, builded with the home. In writing, yes, the entity may give that which would be helpful; yet as a welfare worker the entity may find the greater outlet for its abilities.

26. (Q) What is the purpose of this life on earth for me?
    (A) As indicated, in applying self in greater welfare activities for others, and in the preparation of and in building the home. First it must be spiritual, then it must be mental and then it may be in the physical.
