3709]'s letter:
Dear Miss Davis,
Thank you for your nice letter. I am so glad to learn the
Association is "carrying on." What are Membership fees?
Returning the Questionnaire. Hope it is readable.
Perhaps the greatest benefit I received from Reading was an
intangible - (an admiration for the good man, Edgar Cayce)
- a feeling of gratification that he read for me, and found
some good qualities for me to work forward on.
Sincerely, [
3709]
[Enclosed Reply to Questionnaire:]
1. Do you still have a copy of your Life Reading? Yes
2. How many times have you read your Life Reading? (If many
times, give approximate number.) 12 or more
3. Did you read it to ["or with" crossed out] someone else
and, if so, what was the relation of the person to you?
Friend, Mrs. [
3102] - no one else.
4. Have you given a copy of your reading to anyone and, if
so, what was the relationship to you of that person? No
5. How recently have you read your Life Reading? After
finishing Miss Gina Cerminara's "Many Mansions"
6. In what respects do you feel that your Life Reading was
(1) true, (2) false, (3) correct, (4) imaginary, (5) hocus
pocus, (6) inaccurate, (7) incomplete, (8) trivial? It was
suggestive of character trait developments, and served to
help me help myself. It was not too complete. I felt just a
glimpse backward.
7. Do you believe in a reincarnation of the soul and, if so,
why? Yes - Reading and instinct.
8. What is your idea or concept of Karma? Is it (a) a state
to which a people aspire, (b) a state to which an individual
aspires, (c) an environmental influence, (d) a hereditary
influence, (e) something you yourself have done or thought or
left undone and unthought in a previous incarnation?
(e) marked
9. Have you in any respect consciously changed your (1)
vocation, (2) thoughts, (3) actions or reactions toward
others as a result of your Life Reading? Not to any great
degree - but have thought about it a good deal.
10. Assuming your life to be no casual accident or
experiment, do you have any new or different concept as to
the purpose of your life as a result of your Life Reading?
It was in line, with my thinking.
11. Have you ever systematically or otherwise set apart any
part of your day, week, month or any other period of your
time for introspection or an examination and analysis of
your inner self (and we do not mean writing in a diary) as
suggested in your Life Reading? If not, why not and, if so,
are there any results measurable to you?
Have at times. My life at present too extroverted to really
need this, for it is beneficial now.
12. Do you regard your vocation, whether it be as laborer,
supervisor, manager, official, engineer, lawyer, doctor,
housewife, mother, or what not, as the dominant force in your
life or do you look upon your vocation as an agency through
which you can the better fulfil your purpose in this life?
["look...life?" underlined] This latter
13. How, in your opinion, can our Association best carry on
the work of Edgar Cayce and the good for which he stood?
More publicity like "Many a River" [TIR?] "Many Mansions" -
contacts with psychical source & Duke experiments.
The above questions are for the purpose of stimulating
thought. In filling out the questionnaire, or giving us a
report on your life reading, please do comment on each
paragraph of the life reading itself. After having your
reading, did you direct your activities more toward teaching
or training children and adolescents? Your reading indicated
unusual ability to write, special types of writings, or
subject matter, such as pedagogy on child training - child
development. To what extent did you follow through with this
suggestion? Any other information that would tie in with the
information in your reading, would be most helpful to have.
["activities...adolescents?" underlined] Yes. Successfully
in Church School.
5/09/51 I sent membership blank and membership data, etc. GD.
