TEXT

GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
EC: Yes, we have the body here.
As we find there are disturbing conditions. These will gradually give a greater distress unless measures are taken, which should have been taken long ago.
We find that there has been an injury in the lumbar-sacral area which has caused unbalancing of the hip position, that gradually allows one limb to become moved in its socket - and it is shortening the limb.
We find that this should be corrected. It may require that there be a period of rest, a correction, and even a weight tied to the limb to keep it in position. This would be the better manner as we find, for correction.
This we would have done in Nashville by an osteopath in accord or one who will consider the suggestions made here and who will make the corrections found to be necessary as to the position.
It is better that this be done when there has been some preparation made, and should require the body keeping off the feet for at least four to five weeks, with these corrections.
Do that if we would make for better conditions.
The rest and the adjustments will also aid in better assimilation through the whole body-forces, for the natural stress and strain upon the nerve system has also upset the hypogastric and pneumogastric centers. These will be relaxed with the general treatments that would be made osteopathically.
Do that for this body.
Ready for questions.
(Q) Is there anyone in Nashville you would recommend to make these corrections?
(A) One of the osteopathic profession such as we have indicated.
(Q) What was the nature of the injury received?
(A) There was a slipping that caused the gradual pulling of the muscular forces at the head of the femur.
(Q) Is the vitamin preparation I am taking benefiting my hip condition?
(A) Not benefiting, it is rather making more of a pulling out of place than correcting. There has to be a correcting of the position.
(Q) Why is the pain so much more severe at night than in the day?
(A) Because of the equilibrium attempting to keep the balance after having been on the feet. Thus, as indicated, the body should keep off the feet while these corrections are being made.
(Q) Is sitting down as beneficial as lying down?
(A) Not as beneficial as just indicated.
Do as outline.
We are through with this reading.

Dear Mr. Cayce:
Knowing that people have made remarkable recoveries by following your instructions, I should like to know if you think you can do anything for me. I know what my trouble is but the doctors, both medical and chiropractic, have been unable to find the focus of infection causing it or to treat it successfully. I have a general rheumatic condition, arthritis in the right hip joint, and, to a less degree in other parts of my body - just occasionally.
I have utmost confidence in you and know if you think a Reading will not benefit me, you will tell me so. Thanking you and hoping you'll find it convenient to write me soon, I am

Dear Edgar,
I am sending you the data you requested some time ago. Now that you are giving four and five readings a day, won't that move my appointment up quite some time? Your letter of Aug. 1 said my appointment was for March 28, 1944. I do hope you will be able to give sister [4023]'s reading, and mine, too, very soon.
With best wishes and the season's greetings, I am
Your friend, [3909]
1. Has my right hip joint been injured in any way, and if so, how? 2. What has caused my right leg to become 1/2 inch longer than my left? 3. Should I have my left heel built up? 4. Is the vitamin preparation I am taking benefiting my hip condition? I live on the ... Road - 41 E - about two miles from ... (The farm formerly belonged to Mr. [...].) I'll be at home and if I know exactly the date of my reading, I'll be alone so that I may concentrate.

Dear Edgar,
Yes, I want my appointment for March 28. The principal reason I am so anxious for an earlier reading is to find out if the vitamin - Ertron - I am taking is doing me any good. My physician frankly admits he does not know how to prescribe it. One druggist said I should take three capsules a day and another said I should take six. So I do not know what to do. I am taking three but I should like to know whether I should take more. I want to take the right dosage, both for benefit and because it is very expensive. I just thought as you were giving more readings than your usual number that it would automatically move my reading earlier in the year.
Yes, if there is a cancellation I certainly hope you will give the time to [4023] as she suffers so much more than I do.
With the season's greetings and best wishes for continued success in your humanitarian work, I am

I thank you so much for the lovely Christmas Card you so kindly sent me.

Dear Miss [3909]
Thank you for yours of the first. If it is possible for us to get this in earlier than March 28, you know that I will be glad to do so. I have been trying to find a period both for you and Miss [4023]. I felt very bad that I haven't been able to get one before this time, but you can't imagine how many hundreds of letters we have daily, begging for appointments. We will keep your period of the morning of March 28, from 10:30 to 11:30, our time, if we don't have an earlier period. Be sure to let us have your questions that you will want to have asked before that time and if we have these on hand at the time, we may be able to get the reading in, early.
Thanking you and hoping that you have a happy and prosperous new year.
Sincerely yours, Edgar Cayce

Dear Edgar,
I am hopefully and anxiously awaiting my reading on the morning of March 28. I have been suffering more severely for the last month than ever before, so naturally am more concerned. At your request I sent you some data and questions some time ago. However, since I'd like to submit further questions, I am repeating my first four and adding four more.
I live on the ... Road - about two miles from ... You may remember it as the ... place. I'll be at home and alone, that I may concentrate as completely as possible.
1. Has my right hip joint ever been injured in any way, and if so, how? 2. What has caused my right leg to become one half inch longer than my left? 3. Should I have my left heel built up? 4. Is the vitamin preparation I am taking benefiting my hip condition? 5. Is either walking or standing injurious to my hip? 6. When resting, is sitting down as beneficial as lying down? 7. Why is the pain so much more severe at night than in the day? 8. And of course I want to know the etiologic factors involved in the cause of my condition.
Thanking you and wishing you many more years of service to suffering mankind, I am
Your friend, [3909]
