9/17/23 Letter from [
3977] to EC: "I am in receipt of your
welcome letter [not in A.R.E. files] of
9/14/23 and in answer
will say that I was more than glad to receive a letter from
you, and to hear you was closer by - Mr. Cayce. I guess you
thought you would never hear from me any more. Please pardon
me for I have not been able to write since I last wrote you
in Dayton, O. at the time I last wrote you. I was improving
nicely but all at once I turned the other way. I sure trust
and hope and pray that I will get well some of these days. I
sure have suffered a long time. I still believe that you can
cure me through the Power of our blessed Saviour. I wish I
could see you Mr. Cayce - I could tell you more than I can
write, but I don't see no chance to see you for I am a poor
and afflicted man and not able to pay my way to Selma to see
you. I will send you some more money just as soon as I get
it for your kind efforts in which you shown me. I feel like
you done all you could for me.
"Well Mr. Cayce - I will tell you where I hurt the worst and
that is in the lower part of my bowels - I got jerked in my
bowels [about 2 yrs. ago - not well] and this is part of my
troubles. I have been examined by 4 or 5 Doctors and they
can't tell me what my trouble is. Write me what my trouble
is if possible. Say Mr. Cayce, I wish you would come to ...
I know you would get lots of work to do for there's more
afflicted people in this county than any other county I know
of. I feel like you would not regret your trip nor lose any
either, it would be money to you.
"Well I will close for this time by asking you to write me at
once. I still have faith in you." Respect, [

10/15/23 Letter from EC to [
3977]: "Yours of 17th came to
me after I had left Selma - some other business I had called
me away and has been so that I could not get back there, so
am going to ask you if it is possible for you to do so make
another engagement and let me see if we can go over your case
again and see if we can get that just as is needed for your
case.
"Too bad didn't get to see you while in Ala., but seems that
the greater part of my work is called to be done some where
else tho had planned to remain there in Selma.
"But you write me making the engagement and will see what we
can find here. Thank you for your letter, and trust that
will be able to get that needed for your case, and that you
will get so you can get relief from your pain and suffering.
"Hoping to hear real soon, with kindest personal regards..."

28th, we shall be very glad to make an appointment for you,
but just at the present time our appointments are so far
ahead that we feel we are not justified in having people
wait so long - for some condition may exist or may come about
before we are able to get to it that would need attention at
once by a local physician. However, just as soon as we can
get our slate cleaned up a bit, I will drop you a line, and
if you want the appointment then, we hope to be able to be of
service."
