Dear Mr. Cayce,
I am grateful indeed for you kindness and consideration
in giving me an earlier date for a reading than your usual
scheduled time. Up to the present I have been able to hold
off the X-ray, and if I can manage to do that until March
24th or thereabouts, it will give me time to talk over
your findings with my doctor. He has been so very patient
over such a long period of time, but recently he has been
demanding that I have a thorocoplasty. If the expected X-ray
corroborates his present theories, I shall be helpless to
avoid it.
The surgery would necessitate county care again, and my
experience in Olive View Sanatorium was so unhappy and so
unfortunate that I shudder at a repetition of the experience.
The county doctors had prescribed a thorocoplasty to
be administered on the left lung after a small amount of
infiltration should heal in the right lung.
In the meantime the cavity in the left lung, which the Olive
View Medical Staff declared could not close, had closed in
spite of their verdict. Regardless of that miraculous
demonstration, they transferred me from Olive View Sanatorium
to a notoriously bad county rest home. There treatment was
discontinued, and of course, the cavity re-opened. Also they
transferred to the rest home only those X-rays that showed
the open cavity, and kept the X-ray that evidenced the closed
cavity. County Rest Homes may take new X-rays only through
Olive View Sanatorium. The history, showing absolute
evidence of the closed cavity, was not divulged until long
after treatment had been discontinued and the cavity had
re-opened. My present doctor has been trying for four years
to re-close the cavity, which would have been healed long ago
had proper care been given in Olive View. (This is not meant
as a tirade against Olive View. I want you to know my fear
of returning.)
I shall do all I can to hold off any radical treatment until
I hear from you.
I understand from your booklets that all questions at this
reading must deal entirely with the physical, so I shall make
them up accordingly and shall enclose them on a separate
sheet of paper.
Thanking you again for your very kindly consideration, I am
Gratefully yours, [

QUESTIONS (Please forgive the pencil. I have run out of ink
and cannot get a new supply at the moment.)
I expect to be in Room 455, Hotel Californian, 1907 West
Sixth Street, Los Angeles, California, on March 24th, 1944.
If any change occurs in my plans I shall write or telegraph
you immediately.
The following questions concerning my health, have troubled
me now and then, but I prefer to leave the choice of those
you ask during the reading, to your discretion - also
the wording of the questions would undoubtedly be
managed better by you.
1 - Can I get well from tuberculosis? Can I be healed
completely?
May I expect to lead a normal life?
What treatment do you prescribe?
2 - Will a thorocoplasty be necessary or even advisable?
If so, must I have the surgery performed under county care,
or may I have access to some better hospital?
3 - Is continuation of the present pneumoperitoneum treatment
advisable?
4 - Would the new drug Diasone heal my lungs?
If so, how may I obtain treatments?
5 - Is the present discharge of mucous a result of the
tuberculous condition or is it caused by a bronchitis or
other infection?
6 - Has my right lung healed?
7 - Do I still have a cavity in my left lung?
8 - How extensively has the tuberculosis healed, if at all?
9 - Can I obtain all treatments you prescribe? How?
10 - Is my heart normal? Are the occasional poundings and
uneven heart beats a result of air pressure or indigestion?
What treatment, if any, do you prescribe?
11 - Are my kidneys affected? Is treatment indicated?
12 - What do you advise as to the digestive system and the
diet?
13 - Is the nervous condition I have had since childhood
something that can be healed completely? What do you
prescribe? Is my rather poor memory a result of laxness on
my part or the result of some physical condition? What do
you advise?
14 - Do my colorless lips and gums suggest anemia? If so how
may this condition be corrected?
15 - Is the present condition of my teeth endangering my
health? If so, can you advise how I may have them cared for?
16 - May I regain normal hearing?
What treatment do you prescribe?
17 - My vision has been impaired rather recently. Do you
prescribe treatment for my eyes?
18 - For years I have had little resistance to colds and
influenza. What do you prescribe?
19 - Tissues in my upper left arm have been impaired. Is
this a dangerous condition? Does it require treatment?
20 - I have felt that fumes from gas heat have aided in
lowering my resistance to tuberculosis. Is this true in
my case?
Please accept my humblest gratitude for your help, and may
God bless you always.

Dear Mr. Cayce,
Thank you so very much for the Reading. I shall do
everything in my power to follow instructions but am
afraid it will be impossible for me to find Apple Brandy
in this vicinity. I telephoned several liquor stores and
distributors but all said that Apple Brandy has not been made
for at least two years, and is impossible to get. Two
friends have been trying to find it for me also, but with no
success. Can you inform me where I may obtain it?
I tried also to buy Acigest and Calcios in Los Angeles but
could not, so I sent an air mail letter to the Colloidal
Health Products Corporation two weeks ago asking for an
immediate reply via air mail, but as yet have received no
reply.
The Reading specified a gallon and a half charred oak keg,
but I could obtain only a two gallon one. However the extra
page of instructions for preparing the keg called for either
a gallon and a half or two gallon keg so I am hoping that
will be acceptable. Charred Oak kegs also are almost
beyond finding at the present time.
I should be most grateful for some other readings on
tuberculosis from your files, if it is possible for you to
send them. I just could not afford an active membership but
am wondering if you have any such material in booklet form
or in any form which an associate member might obtain. I am
greatly interested in learning whether or not all cases are
treated the same generally, or if each case is given highly
individualized instructions.
Somehow I cannot help feeling that if it will be possible
for me to follow instructions to the letter I shall be cured.
But my difficulties lie in obtaining the required materials
and in the financial part. I just do not have money to spend
upon facilities or special foods, but I shall do everything
I can to obtain them. Even getting out of doors where I may
lounge about rather than to be on almost constant exercise
will be a real problem.
Would it be possible to have another Reading that might clear
up these difficulties? I do not know what your procedure
is in such cases, and I could not pay for another reading at
the moment but would do so as soon as possible. However I do
not want to be selfish and I know that you have heavy demands
upon your time and abilities, so I merely present these
problems hoping that you may aid in solving them. At the
moment the most pressing need seems to be Apple Brandy and I
shall be grateful indeed if you can advise where I may obtain
it.
Thanking you for your kindness in my behalf, I am

Dear Miss [
4018]
I have yours of the 17th.
I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble in getting
the apple brandy. I don't know where to tell you to obtain
this. I know it can be obtained. As far as I know they have
been making apple brandy right along in the East. That is
one portion of the treatment that is given in practically
every case of tuberculosis, and it has been one of the most
effective. In fact, unless it is a case too far advanced,
there have been very, very few that haven't responded to the
suggestions that have been made through the readings.
There are quite a number of these cases, that are entirely
different. So far we have not prepared any special papers on
tuberculosis, though there have been numbers and numbers of
cases through the years. If you have read There is a River,
you will know that this is one of the conditions in which
I have the most interest, because it was possibly the first
thing that came about in my own immediate family, for my
wife was afflicted with it, and we had despaired of her ever
being well. In fact, we had been told by possibly fifty
physicians, she had gone far beyond anything being able to
bring her back. This was one of the first readings given for
my own immediate family, outside of what had been done for
myself.
The people who make Acigest and Calcios are very much like
several of the things that we have given. They are not
primarily in that business, but have made it as a side line,
because it has been suggested for them, and they have gone
ahead to prepare it for others, and it is not sold in any
stores. I am sure you will hear from them. They may be a
little late, but you will hear from them direct.
There are other people in the Los Angeles area who have been
given the brandy keg. The two gallon keg will be perfectly
alright. It will only mean that it will evaporate much
faster in a large container.
It would be mighty hard to get a reading until you at least
commence something or another. In fact, the experience
through forty years has been, unless you have begun, usually
the information will tell you to do what it has suggested,
even if that it not as helpful as it should be.
We will send you a list of our publications just as soon
as we can get them from the printers. There are quite a
number of case histories, but as I said, there is not one on
tuberculosis, and to give you anything that has been given
otherwise, we would have to make it up from various readings,
which would be practically impossible just at this time. We
will try to answer any questions that you might wish to ask
about.
Hoping that you will be able to get started on the
suggestions soon, I remain
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC/gm

Mr. Edgar Cayce

Dear Mr. Cayce,
I am enclosing a letter from Speas Company of Sebastopol,
California, informing me that their Apple Brandy is not
re-distilled. It is the only Apple Brandy I could find after
almost two months of searching. Wholesalers and Liquor
Stores, as well as Drug Stores say that Hildrick's Apple
Brandy and other Apple Brandies are still being made in the
east but that government regulations prohibit their shipment
to the west coast.
Since Hildrick's Apple Brandy is still being manufactured, I
am wondering if it might be possible to have some sent to me
by means of a doctor's prescription, which could be forwarded
directly to the manufacturers in the east. However, since
my doctor is to take no part in this course of treatment
it would be impossible for me to obtain a prescription from
him, so I am wondering if that might be arranged through some
doctor interested in the Association. I know of none, nor do
I have an address of any Hildrick's plant. Do you think it
might be possible to make such an arrangement?
If that is not advisable would it be possible for you to
give me names and addresses of people in this vicinity - or
in California (for I understand the shipment of liquor is
prohibited from state to state) who are using the charred keg
with a re-distilled apple brandy at present. I could write
to them and perhaps in that way find a source of supply.
Those two avenues failing, would it be possible now to have
a reading to inquire where I might obtain re-distilled apple
brandy? The Acigest and Calcios came immediately after my
last letter to you and I have been taking both regularly as
prescribed, and have been adhering to the diet suggestions as
closely as possible, but of course have not been using Apple
Brandy fumes because of my inability to obtain redistilled
apple brandy. If it is possible to have a reading to
inquire about the apple brandy, would any questions as to the
possibility of obtaining more adequate finances be advisable
also? That part of my living is becoming more and more
difficult and any added expense must be paid out of the money
allotted for my food and of course that means less food.
I shall be very grateful for an early reply for I am so very
anxious to start the course of treatments.
Thanking you for any help you can give, I am
Sincerely yours, [

Dear Miss [

I have yours of the 15th, enclosing the letter from Speas and
Company.
I believe, Miss [

apple jack, but distilled brandy would be alright to use.
So if you can get this fixed for you do try that. That, I
believe, will be the best way.
Hoping you will get real results, which I believe you will
if you follow the treatments through, I am, with every good
wish,
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC/wi
