This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 5th day of April, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [4068], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the article in CORONET.

TEXT

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here. There are disturbances preventing the better physical functioning of the body. The sources of the disorders have been of longstanding, and this in itself has caused the body - through nerve reflexes, in the activities through blood supply and the distribution of assimilated forces - to build conditions that will be hard to overcome. Or there will be required a great deal of prayer, a great deal of patience and persistence if there would be much help brought for the body.
3. For, as we find, in times back there were those conditions existing from congestions through the body-forces, causing a neuralgia in the areas of the 9th dorsal and the brachial center. This caused excesses of that assimilated to be distributed. Hence affected areas causing short circuiting, as it were, or patches of the emunctories in these areas specifically became almost solid. Thus the association of activities through the sensory and the sympathetic nervous systems began gradually to become a voluntary motion or activity of the muscular forces controlling through the nerve forces from these specific areas, the coordinating with the cerebrospinal system; producing first this incoordination as a partial paralysis.
4. Then, with these accumulations, there has gradually come more and more, and at times more severe than others, the agitans or the inability to control the locomotories - either from the lower limbs or from the hands or arms. These are the problems to be dealt with.
5. Parts of these arose from congestions in the liver area and inactivity through alimentary canal. These are, then, the sources and the disorders as we find existent.
6. First we would begin applying the Castor Oil Packs over the liver area, for an hour and a half each day for five days in succession.
7. At the end of the fifth day, or the next morning, take internally about a tablespoonful of Olive Oil.
8. Rest from these applications for three days. Then begin all over again.
9. Continue to repeat this procedure following each series with the Olive Oil, each time increasing the amount, until at least three tablespoonsful are taken at the time and there are better eliminations established throughout the alimentary canal.
10. If after the second, third or fourth round, these tend to cause too great a fullness in the lower abdomen, give the body a colonic irrigation.
11. After there has been the purifying of the system, begin with the use of the Radio-Active Appliance; very consistently, for an hour to two hours each day. When this is applied, use this period for prayer and meditation.
12. Each day following the Appliance treatment, give the body a good massage over the whole cerebrospinal system, but more specifically in the brachial center; that is, from the last of the cervicals to the 5th and 6th dorsals. Then the 9th dorsal to and through the lumbar axis. For the massage use an equal combination of Olive Oil (heated) and Tincture of Myrrh.
13. Be persistent, be consistent with these applications. While we may not eliminate these conditions entirely, because of the age, we will find that there will be the ability of the body to use itself much more easily, and the ability to walk will be regained to such an extent that there need not be a great deal of fear in the body as to the ability to control its locomotion in those directions as may be desired. But it will require persistency and consistence.
14. Keep the attachment plates of the Appliance very clean. Do not mix the periods of the rubs in the particular areas indicated. Massage across the liver area as well as the diaphragm. This will also be well for this body. Do that.
15. Ready for questions.
16. (Q) Do I need a gallstone operation?
    (A) Not if you will use those things suggested.
17. (Q) Is there any womb trouble?
    (A) None that will not be materially aided by the applications suggested. Because of the pressures there is caused an unpleasantness and a slight discharge at times. Use Glyco-Thymoline douches to relieve these tensions and to reduce the acidity that causes a great deal of the inconvenience and discharge. Have the water body temperature, using a tablespoonful of Glyco-Thymoline to the quart of water - only in a fountain syringe.
18. (Q) Has my arm been properly treated?
    (A) This is very good but the use of the massages as well as the Appliance indicated will make coordination much, much improved.

BACKGROUND

1. 9/15/43 She wrote: "My son phoned me from camp to read the article in this month's CORONET about you. I have read it and taken heart. I have paralysis agitans, or old fashioned palsy. I am 63 yrs old and otherwise seem in good health, but this constant trembling of my hands is wearing me down... Right now I have a broken left arm. That's getting better, but not the palsy. Please, can you do anything for me?"
2. 10/12/43 She submitted questions: "What is the treatment for the paralysis agitans from which I suffer? Do I need a gallstone operation? Has my arm been properly treated? Is there any womb trouble? The worst trouble is the palsy. No doctor seems to know the cause or treatment."
